Our Story
Handcrafted in Britain
Market Leading Design
Our story is a thoroughly British tale.
From humble beginnings in a simple
workshop in London, the Parker Knoll
business steadily grew over time. Its
home for many years was in the heart of
Chipping Norton, and today the business
is firmly based in Riddings, Derbyshire.
Throughout its incredible 140 year
history, Parker Knoll has established itself
at the heart of furniture manufacturing in
the United Kingdom.
At Parker Knoll innovation is a way
of life. Our founder was a highly
creative designer, who continually
sought to improve and innovate
the way furniture could be made to
enhance the seating experience. His
partnership with Willi Knoll showed
his breadth of vision, embracing
a radical new concept, which
ensured that Parker Knoll were the
first furniture company to use a
revolutionary new spring system.
This innovation would ultimately
set new standards for comfort in
domestic upholstery. Consequently,
if you mention the word “recliner”
today, people will instinctively think
of Parker Knoll.
In 1869 Frederick Parker created the
chair making business that was to
become Parker Knoll and quickly
established the business as a high
quality upholstery manufacturer. He
took pride in designing and developing
the finest furniture, using the best of
British craftsmanship. Those founding
principles remain at the core of our
business, and our dedicated team of
craftsmen and women, based in rural
Derbyshire, bring their experience and
high standards to production today.

leathers which we have sourced from
around the world. Frederick Parker
approached the development of fine
furniture with a simple goal – to transform
the everyday sitting experience. Today
the team at Parker Knoll continue to work
to this core principle when introducing
new designs to suit today’s lifestyles and
the modern day consumer. We continue
to innovate and lead the market in design,
technology and fabric development,
bringing you beautifully made furniture
which provides unparalleled comfort and
timeless design.

The Fabric Collection
The extensive fabric collection from Parker Knoll includes
classic designs, stripes and plains, and super soft chenilles
that are a delight to touch. Whether your preference is
for classic damasks, deep and rich velvets or the softest
of chenilles there is a world of choice to help you create
the perfect suite for your home. Our leather ranges are
sourced from the best tanneries worldwide, and offer the
finest of leathers that look fabulous, feel soft and offer their
own distinctive finish and natural characteristics.

Arm Height
Burghley, Canterbury, Cavendish, Faversham, Montague, Jasmine, Burlington
and Fairford Sofas and Chairs overall dimensions are the same. The arm height
of the chair is lower than the sofa, for optimum seating comfort.
Quallofil
Quallofil seat interiors are available in the following models:
Burghley, Cantenbury, Westbury, Hanbury, Henley,
Cavendish, Faversham, Montague, Jasmine, Burlington,
Kingston, Fairford, Sinatra, Mitford and York.
Zero Rated Vat
Available on Penshurst Rise Chair. You will need to provide relevant
documentation at point of purchase in order to qualify.
