We would like to inform you that as of September 30, 2015 we are no
longer under a reciprocal dining agreement with Trump National Golf
Club Charlotte. The reciprocity has run its course, and we feel that it is
time for a change as we explore other options. In fact, we have recently
partnered with Bright’s Creek, a Golf Club in Western North Carolina.
East West Club Management has added Bright’s Creek to its portfolio and
it will be a great reciprocal golf club for all of you to enjoy. Bright’s Creek is located in Mill
Spring, N.C. It has a Tom Fazio designed golf course, a mountain lodge, an equestrian center,
and a BMW excursion. Other amenities are in the planning phase, but we will keep you
informed. Please see Clair or myself if you would like to plan a Stay and Play.
My door is always open.
Warmly,
Bruce Furman

Marina & Aquatics
The
transition
from summer to
fall accelerates in
October, and with
it comes excellent
fishing on Lake
Norman. Some say that it’s the cool
weather and low humidity that makes
it so good, while others suggest it’s
better because there is less pleasure
boat traffic. A more palatable
explanation is that fish are hungry
after spending much of the summer in
deep water, where food is difficult to
find. History shows that when surface
water temperatures dip into the
seventies, bass go on a feeding binge.
If it’s schooling fish you are targeting,
look for bait pods swimming on the
surface, particularly in protected coves
and boat basins. The more baitfish, the
higher the probability of bass, hybrids
and stripers feeding in the area.
Tips from Capt. Gus: Since forage fish
are small on Norman, it’s best to cast
lures that replicate their size. Not all
bass will be feeding on the surface or
swimming the shallows. Anglers
fishing deep docks, points and submerged brush will find that soft plastic
lures bumped along the bottom entice
lots of strikes from tournament size
bass.
More on Shore Power Safety & Function
As mentioned in last month’s newsletter there is more to shore power
than plug and play. I would like to explain briefly how the shore
power works.
All shore power at PYC is metered and is assigned to an individual
slip number. It’s very important to keep track of what is plugged into
your receptacle or receptacles. If you think or see someone using your
Harry Smith
power
please let me know. Chances are they may not realize or even
Marina Manager
know they’re using someone else’s power.
Each power pedestal also has a light and each light has its own breaker. If the light on your
pedestal does not work check the breakers and let your marina staff know.

Saturday, October 3 - 10:00 am
When do I winterize, or should I? What are the risks involved in the geographical
location we live in? These are just some of the questions that boaters might have.
Enjoy this workshop of open discussion and knowledge.
Several topics that will be covered are:
- Boat heaters
- Cabin
- Bilge
- Light bulbs
- Engine winterization
- Freshwater winterization
- Topping off the fuel
- Pump out
- Oil changes
- much more

Let the fall be the time of year to get that extra practice in. Less
people and cooler weather make things a lot more relaxing when
working on the improvement of your boat’s operating. Call and
let us schedule some time, one on one, to help make your boating
with us more enjoyable. Group instruction is also available.
Other one-on-one opportunities:
•
Learn the lake.
•
Learn more about your boat.
•
All private instruction can be custom to your boating needs!
