Our 2014 Supporting Partner Campaign resulted in significant
growth of private financial support with 30 new financial
supporters. The Spring Annual Dinner saw our largest
attendance ever, formally welcoming new downtown businesses,
recognizing building rehabs and outstanding volunteer efforts.
MSVW strives to keep our community informed of downtown
improvements & happenings through speaking engagements,
social media, and local newspapers.

Downtown is the only part of a city that belongs to everyone. It
doesn’t matter where you find your home, downtown is yours too.
Because of this, investing time and dollars into downtown is
improving the community for everyone who lives here.

WHO IS MAIN STREET?
Main Street Van Wert, Inc. (MSVW) is a Nationally Accredited Main Street Program, and a 501(c)3
organization. We operate by leveraging public & private funds alongside community volunteerism. Our
work each year is focused on revitalization and sustainability of our downtown central business district
through exciting events, building preservation, recruiting businesses to downtown, and growing our
partnerships with existing businesses, other organizations, and community residents.
MSVW and volunteers work to improve the overall visual
experience and function for everyone who visits, shops,
lives or works Downtown We strive to promote & educate
building owners and residents about the important history
and architecture only found downtown.
- Hidden Spaces upper floor building tour
- completed 4 exterior building renderings
- assisted with 3 Design Review applications
- hosted Design Review Board training seminar
- maintaining 18 sidewalk planters
- 36 streetlamp banners & American flags
- expanded Harvest & Christmas decorations

Following the National Main Street Approach, MSVW sets a
program of work each year in the 4 areas of Design, Operations,
Business Enhancement, and Marketing/Promotions. These
activities are executed by volunteers and staff, making it a true
community effort to keep Downtown vibrant, active, and a
positive reflection of the County and City of Van Wert.
BUSINESS ENHANCEMENT:

businesses to flourish in Downtown. In 2014, this included
activities to assist existing businsses and the opportunities in
business mix and unoccupied buildings.
