Transoral Robotic Surgery
Ÿ
HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers
Ÿ
Challenges and controversies in skull base reconstruction

Every year, the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, invites a guest society to
participate in our annual meeting in Dubai. In the last three years we have hosted colleagues from Turkey,
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. This year we are honoured to invite our colleagues from Lebanon to participate, as we
play host to the Lebanese Society of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, the Guest Society for 2014. We are
also pleased to invite our colleagues from the Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery Department at Tanta
University, as the 2014 Guest University.
One of the most prestigious departments from the USA is also joining us this year as the International Guest
Institution; the New York Head and Neck Institute faculty will impress everybody with the depth and scope of
their expertise in Otolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery.
Given the tremendous success of the Young Otolaryngologist's Day and Awards for the past two years, in 2014
you will be seeing a lot more young faces around as the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and
Neck Surgery have sponsored the travel and accommodation of 150 residents from across the Middle East to
participate in our successive third year of 'Resident's Day'. They will be presenting their research papers and
competing for three research awards.
I would also like to thank the Activity Director Dr Michael Benninger, Head and Neck Institute, Cleveland Clinic,
and Professor of Surgery, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, for his continued
support to the Middle East Update in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Conference.
I do believe that we will have a very special meeting this year, and I am looking forward to seeing you all in
Dubai.
Kind regards,
