You’ll enjoy deluxe accommodations, including a luxury Irish Castle, wonderful culinary treats, great music and cultural opportunities, all rolled up in an easily paced itinerary. But foremost, you will come home with memories of the lilt of Irish laughter, the warm smiles and the welcoming spirit of this island country. DAY 1 WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 2015 Depart from JFK International Airport for a direct non-stop flight to Dublin, Ireland. DAY 2 THURSDAY, JULY 2, 2015 WATERFORD Arrive early into Dublin. Meet our Irish Driver and Guide. Board our deluxe coach for a relaxing drive south to Waterford, Ireland. We will make a short stop en route to stretch, and refresh. Relax as we drive through the Irish countryside making our first stop at the Irish National Stud Farm and Japanese Gardens. The Irish are in love with their horses and you will see why here. This amazing facility has produced some of the finest race horses in the world. Then take a walk in the adjacent Japanese Gardens which were laid out in 1906 to represent the “Life of Man.” We will continue with a drive through Kilkenny, with its impressive Castle framed by medieval city walls. We will continue to Waterford for our welcome dinner and overnight. (D) DAY 3 FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2015 CORK Awaken each day to a full Irish Breakfast at your hotel. We begin our discoveries today with a tour at the famed House of Waterford. Walk through the various areas of the factory that make up the fascinating steps in the creation of some of the finest crystal products in the world. We then head to the southern coast of Ireland to visit Charles Fort. This well-preserved star shaped fort was built in the 1670's by the English to protect Kinsale harbour against foreign naval forces. Continue on to Cork to check-in for two nights at your 4-star city centre hotel. Join the group for dinner at the hotel. (B, D) DAY 4 SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2015 CORK Formerly known as Queenstown, Cobh, Ireland has a long association with emigration and was the last port of call for the Titanic. The Titanic Experience in Cobh is a new permanent visitor attraction which opened in 2012. Situated in the original offices of The White Star Line, the location marks the departure point for the last 123 passengers who boarded the Titanic on its fateful maiden voyage to America. It is educational and emotional. The agenda this afternoon takes a different turn. We visit the Old Midleton Distillery, makers of one of the finest Irish Whiskeys - Jameson Whiskey. Get ready for a little education on the traditional whiskey making process and, of course, a little sample! Return to our hotel in Cork for dinner with the group! (B, D) DAY 5 SUNDAY, JULY 5, 2015 KILLARNEY Take a little time this morning to walk a few blocks from the hotel to visit the Old English Market in the heart of Cork city. It is a covered market for fish, fruit, meat and vegetable. The origins of the market can be traced back to James 1st in 1610, but the present building dates from 1786. We travel today a short distance to Killarney via the famed village of Blarney through the valley of the River Lee. Climb the steps of Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone and be blessed with the “gift of gab”. We'll have time for shopping at Blarney Woollen Mills. Continue on over the scenic Cork/Kerry Mountains via the Irish speaking villages of Ballymakeery & Ballyvourney. Arrive in Killarney and check into our 4 Star hotel located just a 5 minute walk to the centre of town. Sit out on the terrace before dinner and enjoy a cold one with a phenomenal view of the mountains. (B, D) DAY 6 MONDAY, JULY 6, 2015 KILLARNEY Today, enjoy one of the most delightful drives in Ireland along the jagged coastline of the Ring of Kerry. Travel via Killorglin, Glenbeigh, Cahersiveen, Waterville and Coomakesta Pass with its magnificent views over Derrynane, home of Daniel O' Connell, known as “The Liberator” to Caherdaniel. We wouldn't want you to pass by the Blind Piper Pub without a visit to this typical Irish Pub… so, of course, we will stop for lunch. Continue on to Castlecove to meet a mountain sheep & cattle farmer for a chat about his life & times. Travel on via Sneem, Moll's Gap, Ladies View, Killarney National Park and along the Lakes of Killarney. Return to the hotel in Killarney for dinner. (B, L, D) DAY 7 TUESDAY, JULY 7, 2015 CLIFDEN Depart for Connemara via the Atlantic west coast of Clare. Our first stop this morning is a fascinating collection at the Flying Boat Museum in Limerick. Foynes Flyingboat Museum captures perfectly the romantic era of the first transatlantic passenger flights by flyingboat. Pan-Am Airlines commissioned Charles Lindbergh who had made the first solo flight to Europe in 1927, to find a suitable base for their flyingboat service from New York to Ireland. Foynes on the Shannon estuary was chosen as the nearest European landfall, which turned out to be of strategic importance as a back door into Europe during WW2. Here too, the original Irish Coffee was served to warm damp passengers. We won't leave without a sample! Moving on to the east coast of Ireland, the dramatic 650 ft. Cliffs of Moher will take your breath away along the wild Atlantic way. And then we move on toward Connemara via the rocky land formations called the Burren. We will arrive at our accommodations for the night at the beautiful Abbyglen Castle Hotel. Enjoy a wonderful dinner at the hotel with the group. (B, D) DAY 8 WEDNESDAY, JULY8, 2015 DUBLIN Enjoy a little leisure time on the grounds of the castle and then take off for a drive north through Galway City and on for a visit to Kylemore Abbey. This is the greatest attraction in the area. Nestled at Connemara Mountains, it is regarded as one of Ireland's most romantic buildings. Mid-afternoon we will head to Dublin to check into your 4 Star City Centre Hotel. You may want to take a leisurely walk through Stephens Green Park adjacent to the hotel before dinner. (B, D) DAY 9 THURSDAY, JULY 9, 2015 DUBLIN Depart on a guided panoramic tour of Dublin city including visits to St. Patrick's Cathedral and Trinity College, home to the Book of Kells. Tour one of Dublin's most famous sites – the Guinness Storehouse at St. James Gate and enjoy a pint of Guinness in the Sky Bar. Or learn how to make the perfect pour. This has often been rated as one of the top 10 factory tours in the world. (The Sky Bar is located in at the top of a glass tower that commands spectacular views of Dublin City & County in every direction.) The afternoon is yours to explore one of Dublin's wonderful museums, do some last minute shopping, or stop in to one of the neighbourhood pubs. The group will gather for a farewell dinner. (B, D) DAY 10 FRIDAY, JULY 10, 2015 DUBLIN Transfer to Dublin Airport for your flight to JFK with an anticipated arrival early afternoon. (B) Kiss the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle!
