It was a day filled with laughter, fun and so much love. Just like every day is here at Marian Heights—love is just simply what we do! Spring into Health by Nicole Lumley Exercise Physiologist With the warm weather and the flowers blooming, it’s clear that most of us will be itching to go outside and enjoy the change of seasons. With that—it’s important to make sure we are making healthy choices. Here are three healthy habits that will keep a spring in your step! 1. Eat right. The old saying is true—you are what you eat! Make smart choices by keeping your plate full of colorful fruits and vegetables. 2. Wear sunscreen. Dermatologists recommend applying SPF 15 (or greater) sunscreen every day. For maximum benefits, make sure to apply sunscreen to your ears, neck and hands too! 3. Stay hydrated. Water is needed for almost every body process, including perspiration and the removal of waste products, so make sure you meet your daily quota—that's about eight cups a day. Complement Corner I recall visiting my Dad in a skilled nursing facility and saying to myself, “I wish he wasn’t so sick so that he could come to Mulberry." I was thinking about the time my parents came to a party here and I introduced him to one of the residents, John, whom I admired. He started chatting and said he would meet us in the lobby in a few minutes. When the party was over, he was still in John’s apartment talking about the dinosaurs’ movements through the Connecticut River valley. That was many years ago and I knew, then, that Mulberry Gardens was a special place. —Renny Hanson, Maintenance Director Each Individual is a Treasure One anonymous donor Resident-Family Programs In the spirit of Planetree, we welcome you to join your loved one for a wonderful afternoon.
