SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The ST Lumiere decorative facing is a perforated panel made of stainless or pre-coated galvanized steed with a
nominal thickness of 1 mm or in aluminum alloy with a thickness of 1.5 mm. These panels fit together by their
longitudinal edges.
This facing panel can be used as roofing cover, sunbreaker, interior decoration or aesthetic façade facing. This
product can be used on new or renovated public or private buildings used for commercial or lodging purposes.
(technical drawings – fig. 9 to 13)
ST Lumiere facting does not participate in the general stability of the building (no wind bracing or anti-buckling
functions). The support wall must provide the strength functions and stability of the façade and meet
requirements in the matter of air and water permeability.
A special version can be used for installing grating. (finish in C) (technical drawings – fig. 3 to 8)

COMPONENTS AND PARTICULAR FEATURES
ST Lumiere panels are designed to be installed on a ruled secondary frame. This frame serves as bearing and
attachment support for the ST Lumiere panels.
This secondary frame is a construction element by itself and is not an integral part of the ST Lumiere process.
Nevertheless, proper execution is a condition for the final result, notably as concerns the appearance of the
facing.
The separation of frames is to be determined by the loads applied to the panels. The table of allowable loads in
normal wind as a function of the spans given in the appendix determines this separation for ST Lumiere panels
in 10/10ths steel (consult us for other materials and thicknesses).
No frame alignment or flatness errors can be compensated by the ST Lumiere panels themselves.
The allowable loads and spans of the ST Lumiere panels under normal climatic conditions have been
determined by tests considering the following criteria:
•
•
Deflections of at most 1/200th of the span
Safety coefficient with respect to ruin greater than 2 for panels from steel sheet.
For aesthetic considerations, it is also advised to limit the spans to 1.5 m.
4
ST Lumiere panels are installed and attached on metal rails with the following characteristics:
•
•
Bearing width of at least 40 mm.
The thickness of the secondary frame sections must notably allow construction of assemblies with a
minimum characteristic strength of 300 daN.

For the installation of grating type panels, consult P.M.A. for the allowable loads.
ATTACHMENTS
ST Lumiere panels in C are installed with special brackets secured to the frame by self-drilling screws.
As these brackets are attached through the panel by passing the tool through a perforation opening, the carrier
frame separation thus has to be a multiple of the peroration step.

ORGANIZATION
The PMA company is the product manufacturer and does not install the product. The panels are to be installed
by contractors having the required professional qualifications.
Design and studies prior to executing the facade are not incumbent on the maker PMA nor on the distributor
companies. On request, PMA can provide technical assistance.
The purpose of the present specification is not to give details on all points of implementation but to state the
main technical definitions of the panels and their particular characteristics. To help in the study of the facades, it
is complemented in the appendix with particular design suggestions and finishing elements.
HANDLING AND CONDITIONING
A delivery invoice is glued to each package stating:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Customer order reference,
Batch reference,
Customer name
Type of product
Facing thickness
Bundle content (number and length)
Color reference of pre-coated steels.
ST Lumiere panels are packed on the production line.
The weight of the bundles may in no case exceed 2.5 tons.
ST Lumiere panels and their accessories are to be transported under conditions that preserve the integrity of the
characteristics (shimmed up packages, carefully stacked and strapped, tarpaulin-covered trucks).
Handling operations are carried out in consideration of the particular features of the products. They are to be
handled vertically on edge.
TRANSPORT, STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE
The panels are stored in bundles, slightly inclined in the longitudinal direction on a flat surface, without stacking
more than two packages. Storage time on the work site is to be reduced to the minimum.
The essential precaution consists in avoiding water from entering by runoff or condensation between the panels.
Store sheltered from sunlight.
The peel-off protective film covering the pre-coated panels is to be removed as work advances, at the latest 15
days after shipment.
Custom manufacture makes it possible to limit the cutting on the work site. As required, cutting operations on
site are performed using the appropriate equipment (jigsaw, nibbler, fine-tooth saw). It is strictly prohibited to
use a grinder wheel.
Watch out to avoid hot particles from being incrusted on the coating. All dirt (filings, drilling chips, etc.) are to be
eliminated immediately.
Metallic facades have to be normally maintained in accordance with the prescriptions of the Professional Rules
for Metallic Siding (article 4-2-91 exterior maintenance).
Although naturally cleanable by runoff of rainwater, if needed, they can be cleaned periodically with household
detergent, without chlorine added, with no use of abrasive or solvent, followed by rinsing with fresh water.
6
Maintenance notably consists of:
•
•
Eliminating various vegetation (such as moss) and any incompatible matter that might be deposited on
the facing surface.
Repair of any localized degradation as soon as detected, such as incipient corrosion caused, for
example, by exterior deterioration actions.
DRAWINGS OF DETAILS OF PRINCIPLE
The following drawings are examples of how singular point of ST Lumiere panels are treated on a facade.
Any other solutions can be considered and studied by the installing contractor in consideration of the specific
characteristics of the product.
