Representative Jones, Environmental League of MA discuss FY`17
Page 4 THE LYNNFIELD ADVOCATE - Friday, February 5, 2016 Representative Jones, Environmental League of MA discuss FY’17 Green Budget House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) met recently with Reading resident Heather Clish (left) and Erica Mattison, Legislative Director for the Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM), to discuss ELM’s budget priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. On January 27, ELM released its annual Green Budget, which outlines the organization’s funding requests for the state’s parks, the Department of Environmental Protection’s Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program, the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Watershed Management Program, and various other environmental initiatives. Heather is the Director of Conservation and Recreation Policy for the Appalachian Mountain Club, one of 75 nonprofit organizations that have formally endorsed the Green Budget, which is available at http:// environmentalleague.org/upload/docs/FINAL FY17 GREEN 20BUDGET.pdf. Signing day at LHS continued from page one Shown at Wednesday’s signing event at LHS, from left to right: Mia DeGeorge, Samantha DeGeorge, Lisa DeGeorge, Sylvie Terranova, Lisa DeGeorge, Cameron DeGeorge, C.J. Finn, Chris Finn, and Alexis Finn. (Advocate Photos by Mike Kearney) they signed their letters during a special signing ceremony at LHS on Wednesday afternoon. CJ had chosen Assumption over Bentley College due to a winning tradition and a family atmosphere, similar to the four years he had spent playing for the Pioneers. At Assumption, he plans on playing linebacker alongside former fellow Pioneer, D.J. DeGeorge, who happens to be the older brother of teammate Cameron DeGeorge. He will also be joining fellow freshman, Peabody star running back Doug Santos, so expect an exciting four years at Assumption. C.J. will be studying business at Assumption. Cameron DeGeorge will be heading off to the University of Connecticut in the Fall. The decision was not an easy one as Cameron was almost a Syracuse Orangeman but a change of coaching staff at the upstate New York university led him to UConn instead. Cameron had turned down offers to play football for Rutgers, North Carolina State, Purdue, UMass and Wake Forest. According to DeGeorge, one his biggest reasons for UConn was its close proximity to home. Impressed during his visit with the UConn campus, its facilities and coaching staff, DeGeorge believes he will be playing on the offensive line at UConn, but will apply his talents anywhere he’s needed Cameron said he’s still undecided with his academic focus as business, engineering and health sciences are among his interests. Both C.J. and Cameron enjoyed their time at Lynnfield High, mentioning one particular highlight: getting to play at Gillette in the Super Bowl. LHS Principal Robert Cleary added that both were great football players but more importantly, “dynamite kids.” Proud Dad, Chris looks on as CJ signs his commitment. Supporting Cameron during his signing is mom, Lisa.
