The Ignitor replaces breaker points and troublesome factory electronic ignitions with a dependable, self contained and maintenance free electronic ignition system. The Ignitor has been called the “stealth” ignition because of its quick installation and nearly undetectable presence under your distributor cap. There is no “black-box” to clutter the engine compartment. For optimal performance, use the Ignitor with Flame-Thrower 40,000 volt coils. Ignitor II units sense the coil current level and use a powerful micro controller to adjust the dwell. Variable dwell helps to maintain peak energy throughout the entire RPM range. Ignitor II systems develop up to 4 times more energy between 3000 and 5000 RPM than standard ignition systems. High RPM performance is improved when used with the Flame-Thrower II super low resistance (0.6 ohms) 45,000 volt coils. For optimal performance the Ignitor III requires a minimum of 12 volts. Vehicles equipped with a resistance wire or ballast resistor, should be modified as outlined in the instruction manual. It’s common to swap out or upgrade distributors in search for more performance, we understand this and have developed an application guide based on each distributor, OE or aftermarket. Applications are based on the vehicle’s original equipment. If an aftermarket distributor is being used, reference page 22 of this catalog. An “LS” suffix indicates a Lobe Sensor version. Lobe Sensor technology senses the point cam, and does not use a magnet sleeve or ring. Most applications have Ignitor and Ignitor II kits available. These kit part numbers are found in there respective columns. Turn to page 3 for feature comparison chart. Unless otherwise noted, the part numbers in this catalog represent 12-volt negative ground kits. Many of our Ignitor applications are also available in 6-volt negative ground, as well as 6 and 12-volt positive ground. Add a N6, P6 or P12 suffix to the part number when ordering. Positive ground and 6-volt negative ground kits are not available for Ignitor II applications. Compatible coils can be found in the coil section of this catalog. PerTronix’s Ignitor II and III ignition systems require a full +12V power connection between the ignition switch and the positive coil terminal. This requires bypassing the ballast resistor or resistance wire. In many cases, the original resistance wire is buried in the vehicle’s wiring harness. Adding a PerTronix power relay will eliminate the need to dig through the wiring harness and replace wires. Plus, the power relay guarantees maximum system voltage for more power. This 30 AMP relay kit can also be used with the original Ignitor conversion kits as well. Applications are based on the vehicle’s original equipment. If an aftermarket distributor is being used, reference page 22 of this catalog. An “LS” suffix indicates a Lobe Sensor version. Lobe Sensor technology senses the point cam, and does not use a magnet sleeve or ring. Most applications have Ignitor and Ignitor II kits available. These kit part numbers are found in there respective columns. Turn to page 3 for feature comparison chart. Unless otherwise noted, the part numbers in this catalog represent 12-volt negative ground kits. Many of our Ignitor applications are also available in 6-volt negative ground, as well as 6 and 12-volt positive ground. Add a N6, P6 or P12 suffix to the part number when ordering. Positive ground and 6-volt negative ground kits are not available for Ignitor II applications. Compatible coils can be found in the coil section of this catalog. Applications are based on the vehicle’s original equipment. If an aftermarket distributor is being used, reference page 22 of this catalog. An “LS” suffix indicates a Lobe Sensor version. Lobe Sensor technology senses the point cam, and does not use a magnet sleeve or ring. Most applications have Ignitor and Ignitor II kits available. These kit part numbers are found in there respective columns. Turn to page 3 for feature comparison chart. Unless otherwise noted, the part numbers in this catalog represent 12-volt negative ground kits. Many of our Ignitor applications are also available in 6-volt negative ground, as well as 6 and 12-volt positive ground. Add a N6, P6 or P12 suffix to the part number when ordering. Positive ground and 6-volt negative ground kits are not available for Ignitor II applications. Compatible coils can be found in the coil section of this catalog.
