CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Please read all instructions carefully before beginning. 1/4" seam allowance is included in measurements and all strips are cut across the width
of the fabric unless noted otherwise. Label pieces and keep together until
ready to sew. These instructions are based on unwashed fabrics.
A. Pattern #23287 – MUL1 (panel):
1. Fussy cut six panels with red backgrounds to measure approximately 51/2" square.
2. Fussy cut eight panels with green backgrounds to
measure approximately 51/2" square.
B. Pattern #23292 – CRE1 (wood texture):
1. Cut one 51/2" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into twenty-eight
11/2" x 51/2" strips.
2. Cut six 11/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into twenty-eight
11/2" x 71/2" strips.
C. Pattern #23294 – RED1 (ornaments):
1. Cut two 31/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into twenty-four
31/2" squares.
D. Pattern #23290 – DKGRE1 (scrolls):
1. Cut four 2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into forty-eight
2" x 31/2" strips.
2. Cut two 37/8" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into twelve
37/8" squares.
E. Pattern #23290 – CRE1 (scrolls):
1. Cut two 37/8" x 42” strips. Sub-cut into twenty
37/8" squares.
2. Cut six 31/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into seventy-two
31/2" squares.
F. Pattern #23288 – MUL1 (stripe):
1. Fussy cut eighteen 61/2" x 121/2" strips centering each
on the green stripe.
G. Pattern #23289 – RED1 (holly):
1. Cut one 61/2" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into four
61/2" squares.
2. Cut two 51/8" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into sixteen 51/8"
squares. Cut each square across one diagonal to make thirty-two triangles.
3. Cut three 31/2" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into thirty-six
31/2" squares.
4. Cut seven 11/2" x 42" strips. Piece the strips together
to make two 11/2" x 721/2" strips and two
11/2" x 621/2" strips.
H. Pattern #23290 – LTGRE1 (scrolls):
1. Cut three 67/8" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into sixteen 67/8"
squares. Cut each square across one diagonal to make
thirty-two triangles.
I. Pattern #23289 – MUL1 (holly): 1. Cut one 61/2" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into six 61/2" squares.
2. Cut one 37/8" x 42" strip. Sub-cut into four
37/8" squares.
J. Pattern # 23290 – RED1 (scrolls):
1. Cut three 37/8" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into twenty-four
37/8" squares.
2. Cut seven 21/2" x 42" strips for the binding.
K. Pattern # 23293 – RED1 (leaves):
1. Cut four 37/8" x 42" strips. Sub-cut into thirty-six
37/8" squares.
Backing:
1. Cut two 70" x 42" strips. Sew together and trim to
make the 70" x 82" backing.
PIECING INSTRUCTIONS:
Press towards the darker fabric when assembling.
A. Half-Square Triangles:
1. Place one 37/8" Fabric E square on top of one 37/8"
Fabric D square, right sides together. Draw a line
across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 1). Sew 1/4"
away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig.
1). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal
line (Fig. 1) to make two E/D half-square triangles
(Fig. 1). Press. Trim the blocks to measure 31/2" square.
Repeat to make a total of twenty-four E/D blocks.

C. Quilt Top Assembly
Refer to the quilt photo and diagram while assembling:
18. Sew together four Block One squares, two Block Two
squares, six Block Three squares and eight Block Four
squares to make the 481/2" x 601/2" quilt top.
19. Sew together five border strips as shown to make one
side border. Repeat to make a second side border. Sew
the borders to sides of quilt.
20. Sew together four border
strips and two corner
blocks to make the top
border. Repeat to make the
bottom border. Sew the
borders to the quilt top.
21. Sew one 11/2" x 721/2"
Fabric G strip to each side
of the quilt top. Sew one
11/2" x 621/2" Fabric G strip
to the top and bottom of
the quilt.
22. Layer and quilt as desired.
23. Sew the seven 21/2" x 42"
Fabric J strips together endto-end with 45° seams to
make the binding. Fold this
long strip in half lengthwise
with wrong sides together
and press.
24. Bind as desired.
