Come and enjoy this powerful program that helps young people discover the fun in
science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge and teamwork skills!
The FLL program has children in grades 4-8, in teams of up to eight members, solving
problems by building a LEGO-based robot to perform a variety of tasks in a seasonending tournament. Jr. FLL, for children in grades K-3, has teams of up to six children,
solving a real-world challenge by researching the problem and building a LEGO model
for presentation.
Teams work together from August-December. Each team requires, at minimum, one
parent to coach the team. The head coach will get a $25 discount for his/her child’s
registration. TEAMS CAN ONLY RUN IF PARENTS VOLUNTEER TO COACH.
Team meeting schedule will be dependent on the team members and coach(es) schedule.
Costs are dependent on how many members per team AND which LEGO kit the team
decides to purchase. Jr. FLL will be approximately $150 per child and FLL will cost
approximately $300 per child. Fees include all supplies for team use, club dues and
tournament fees.
This year, registration for teams is on a first come-first served basis. As soon as we
have a coach, we will open up that team to the first set of children in the appropriate
grade level. If you would like to coach, and already have your team set, you can register
your whole team at once (call the KCE office for instructions). To secure a spot, please
send in half of the approximate fee ($75 for Jr. FLL and $150 for FLL) along with a
registration form.
In addition, we will have a Parent Open House on May 9th in the Kenston Middle School
Cafeteria at 7pm to answer any questions and form teams if necessary. All money and
registrations will be due no later than May 31 st.

Procedures

Registrations are not accepted by the instructor.

All fees must be paid at the time of registration.

Checks and money orders are to be made out to
Kenston Community Ed.

There will be a $20 fee for all returned checks.

Classes may be cancelled at the last minute due to low
enrollment.

No notification unless class is filled or cancelled.
Inclement Weather Advisory
If the Kenston Schools are closed due to the weather,
Community Education classes will also be closed and classes
will be rescheduled. Please check with your local radio and
television stations for school closings. You may also log on
to kenstoncommunityed.org for cancellations.
Liability
Registration fees DO NOT INCLUDE accident or personal property insurance. No liability is assumed by the Kenston Board of
Education or Kenston Community Education or their sponsors in the event of an accident or loss of personal property at any
site where programs are held.
Refund Policy – Please Read!!!
Programs are run on user fees, therefore, decisions to hold all classes are based upon
enrollment. To receive a refund, you must cancel your class registration 24 hours in advance.
There will be a $5 cancellation fee for ALL registrations cancelled at any time. Once classes
have begun, NO refunds will be granted. Students assume the risk of change in personal
affairs or health.
