TM KODAI DJINNS™ KODAI: Ancient DJINNS: Powerful spirits that carry animal totems The KODAI DJINNS™ are magical creatures formed from the great battle of three thousand years between TENSHI (angel) and AKUMA (oni). The battle was for the fate of the Universe, but with the two being so evenly matched, there could be no winner. In the destruction of their battle, the galaxies were formed. The great battle created Earth and from this battle the elements were formed as their slashing blades created the wind. The sparks of their swords created the fire and lit the core of the planet to make it warm. The broken pieces of their armor and weapons created the rocks and mountains and their blood, sweat and tears formed the seas. Their parents could no longer sit idly by and watch this mayhem. OWARI (Father=End) and HAZIAOME (Mother=Beginning) tried to plead with them to stop, but they would not, so they cast them both down into the Earth. The two were bound in CRYSTAL. But as they were being bound they both made one last attempt to escape but the crystals absorbed their power and exploded up through the Earth, scattering much of their strength across the planet. Imprisoned there, they would be left to ponder the errors of their ways. The shards of crystal became small gems. Each one had the life of an animal plus a portion of TENSHI and AKUMA’s power. These gems are known as KODAI-JEMS, and only humans can hold them because they are the descendants of TENSHI and AKUMA. Whenever a person touches a KODAI-JEM they take on the personality of either TENSHI or AKUMA, whichever they are most related to. Alas over countless years TENSHI came to realize that they were both part of something bigger than themselves and tried to reach out to AKUMA, but AKUMA’s feelings for TENSHI only got worse. They both realized that their spirits could reach out to the KODAI-JEMS and direct them into the hands of those that might help them. They both set out to recruit people who would help them on their quest to free themselves. If AKUMA is released first it will signal the end of the world. The KODAI-JEMS come in four main shapes, each representing the elements. FIRE WATER WIND EARTH There are two others that represent the PHOENIX and the DEMON. One represents life, the other death. Each one has the ability to draw on the animal totems of; RAT BULL TIGER DRAGON RABBIT HORSE SHEEP MONKEY EAGLE WOLF RAM SNAKE TENSHI “The Lord of Light” LIGHT DJINN PHOENIX “A calm breeze can become a fierce storm if provoked” Tenshi Lord of Order – his blade is as swift as air. His motions are as fluid as the sea. He is the harbinger of hope. The light within us all. DRAGON DJINN (AIR) “Sometimes the eye of the storm comes with fangs and claws too.” “Those who can’t see within themselves are truly blind.” Height: 6’1” Weight: 175 lbs. COUNTRY: China OCCUPATION: Blind Swordsman ABILITIES: The DJINNS give the Dragon the power of sight through the blade of his sword. WEAPONS: Dragon Swords, Dragon Blades, Hair Ring HORSE DJINN (WATER) “They don’t call ’em rapids for nothing.” “Sometimes power is not enough. It needs purpose.” Height: 7’4” Weight: 170 lbs. COUNTRY: Africa OCCUPATION: Tribesman ABILITIES: The DJINNS give the Horse the power of super speed.This power can only be maintained while he is charged. WEAPONS: Wood Bo Staff RABBIT DJINN (AIR) “If you felt the breeze, then it’s too late.” Height: 5’7” Weight: 118 lbs. COUNTRY: Sweden OCCUPATION: Viking Warrior ABILITIES: The DJINNS give the Rabbit super agility. Her incredible strength is a mystery but it is believed to have come from her descendants of long ago. WEAPONS: Iron Hammer “Home is where you make it.” SHEEP DJINN (WATER) “There is strength in numbers.” Height: 4’11” Weight: 225 lbs. COUNTRY: Ireland OCCUPATION: Bare Knuckle Boxer ABILITIES: The power the DJINNS give the sheep is the ability to multiply himself up to 10 times for about an hour.This power can only be used once per day. Some people think the sheep’s power makes him a great equalizer and a loyal companion. WEAPONS: Brass Knuckles “Settling the odds, you say.” EAGLE DJINN (AIR) “A spirit that is free rises above anything.” Height: 6’3” Weight: 195 lbs. COUNTRY: Egypt OCCUPATION: Shaman ABILITIES: The DJINNS give the Eagle the power of flight and to levitate others. WEAPONS: Golden Spears “Wisdom is the mightiest of all spells. Use it sparingly.” WOLF DJINN (WATER) “The moon’s effect on man is sometimes worse than the tide.” Height: 5’10” Weight: 170 lbs. COUNTRY: Japan OCCUPATION: Ninja ABILITIES: The DJINNS give Wolf the power of stealth. WEAPONS: Energy Sword, Holy Water Ice Daggers “Lord, guide my blade... May it find those who seek it.” AKUMA “The Master of Darkness” DARKNESS DJINN (ONI) “From the fires of Hell it came, and when it left nothing remained.” Born of ash and raised in fire, Akuma’s temper and ferocity is unmatched by anything in the known universe. He is the Lord of Chaos. Beware his wraith. SNAKE DJINN (EARTH) “Some of nature’s most lethal poisons lie underground.” Height: 5’10” Weight: 110 lbs. WEAPONS: Morning Steel Star “Never lose a fight you could’ve won; for honour and mercy are weapons of the defeated.” TM PLAYER’S MANUAL GETTING TO KNOW YOUR KODAI DJINNS™ Wireless Port LCD Screen Reset Button Up Key Left Key Right Key Down Key HELPFUL HINTS When you throw the yo-yo, you will see a light come on.This is an indication of the charge.The brighter it shines, the bigger the charge.To get the most powerful charge, throw your yo-yo with as many sudden spinning and stopping motions as possible. If you leave the KODAI DJINNS™ alone for too long without throwing the yo-yo to extend its lifespan, it will eventually expire and your monster will change back to an infant.When this happens, you can throw the yo-yo to wake up another KODAI DJINNS™ monster, however, all the previous scores will be lost.To prevent your KODAI DJINNS™ monster from disappearing, you can put it into hibernation. In most cases, the light on your yo-yo will be RED, GREEN or YELLOW. However, if the light on your yo-yo is BLUE, you are lucky. You have the SUPER KODAI DJINNS™™ yo-yo! Your KODAI DJINNS™™ monster is more powerful than the regular ones. It is ready to fight at birth and capable of meeting any challenge immediately. STARTING UP – AWAKE THE MONSTER WITHIN 1. Remove the pull-tape to turn on the power.You can also press the RESET button next to the LCD screen to restart. Pull-tape Reset Button 2. The logo KODAI DJINNS™ will begin scrolling across the LCD screen continuously... Now it’s time to activate your Digital Warrior. In order to do this, you will need to jolt it awake. Begin yo-yoing (any standard technique should do the trick) and continue to do so until you’ve generated enough electric power to awaken your infant monster. You’ll know your KODAI DJINNS™ warrior is ready for action when your yo-yo shines brightly. Note: The KODAI DJINNS™ infant has only a 2 hour lifespan. If this time expires, it will disappear and you will have to start all over again. THE INFANT MONSTER After a few yo-yos, the KODAI DJINNS™ logo will explode and out comes the KODAI DJINNS™ infant monster. The infant monster will bounce up and down, moving back and forth across the screen. Initially it bounces slowly, but moves faster as you continue to yo-yo.Your infant monster thrives on electric power, so throw your yo-yo fast and hard.When it has generated enough electric power from the generator, it will transform into a KODAI DJINNS™ adult. THE KODAI DJINNS™ MONSTERS After an explosion, one of the 12 KODAI DJINNS™ adult monsters will appear on your LCD screen. It will begin walking across the screen, awaiting your command. The adult monster has an initial lifespan of 24 hours.To extend the life of the adult monster, you must yo-yo from time to time while the monster is walking across the screen.Your monster’s lifespan can be checked in the Status Report Menu.When there is only 1 hour of life left, your monster will become stationary and its image will begin to flash.This is your last chance to throw the yo-yo or your adult monster will change back into an infant again. Now press any one of the LEFT, RIGHT, UP, DOWN keys to bring up the Main Menu. BULL DRAGON EAGLE HARE MOUSE RAM SHEEP SNAKE HORSE MONKEY TIGER WOLF THE MENU IT EMS THE MENU ITEMS The main menu offers these 11 options to choose from – 7 Games, 3 Control Functions and 1 Status Report Menu. Use the LEFT and RIGHT keys to scroll through the options and press the DOWN key to execute the selected function. Press the UP key if you decide to exit the menu and go back to your KODAI DJINNS™ monster. If you leave the menu on for too long without doing anything, it will exit automatically. THE MENU IT EMS THE GAMES Build your digital Warrior’s power by playing the games described below.The more you play, the stronger and more battle ready your monster will become! 1.Yo-Yo Game – Basic Throw The Yo-Yo master appears on the screen. He does the demo once showing you the straight down-up throw. Now it’s your turn! Use the DOWN and UP keys to control the yo-yo just like the master did. Start by pressing the DOWN key.When the yo-yo hits the bottom, press the UP key to tug it back up to the palm. You must control the yo-yo in a natural rhythm and a correct sequence in order to continue. As you move on, you must pick up speed or you will fall behind and lose.The total game time is 60 seconds.The more you play, the more points you will accumulate. Your total scores are stored in the Status Report Menu which builds your KODAI DJINNS™ power for future battles.When the game is over, you can continue to the next round by pressing the DOWN key again or you can make another selection using the LEFT and RIGHT keys.To return to your KODAI DJINNS™ monster, press the UP key. DOWN KEY UP KEY 2.Yo-Yo Game – Around The World The Yo-Yo master appears on the screen. He does a demo once showing you the forward cycle throw (a.k.a. Around The World). Now it’s your turn! Use the LEFT and RIGHT keys to control the yo-yo just like the master did. Start by pressing the LEFT key and the yo-yo shoots out. Now press the RIGHT key to return it to the palm.You must control the yo-yo in a natural rhythm and a correct sequence in order to continue. As you move on, you must pick up speed or you will fall behind and lose.The total game time is 60 seconds.The more you play, the more points you will accumulate.Your total scores are stored in the Status Report Menu which builds your KODAI DJINNS™ power for future battles.When the game is over, you can continue to the next round by pressing the DOWN key again or you can make another selection using the LEFT and RIGHT keys.To return to your KODAI DJINNS™ monster, press the UP key. LEFT KEY RIGHT KEY 3.Yo-Yo Game – Combined Throw The Yo-Yo master appears on the screen. He does a demo once showing you the combined straight and circular throw. Now it’s your turn! Use the DOWN/UP and LEFT/RIGHT keys to control the yo-yo just like the master did. Start by pressing the DOWN key.When the yo-yo reaches the bottom, press the UP key to tug it back up. When it comes to halfway on the string, press the LEFT key to toss it forward.Then press the RIGHT key to get it back to the palm to complete the throw.You must control the yo-yo in a natural rhythm and a correct sequence in order to continue. As you move on, you must pick up speed or you will fall behind and lose.The total game time is 60 seconds.The more you play, the more points you will accumulate.Your total scores are stored in the Status Report Menu which builds your KODAI DJINNS™ power for future battles.When the game is over, you can continue to the next round by pressing the DOWN key again or you can make another selection using the LEFT and RIGHT keys.To return to your KODAI DJINNS™ monster, press the UP key. DOWN KEY UP KEY LEFT KEY RIGHT KEY 4. Elements Battle This game pits you vs. the yo-yo computer.Think: “Rock, Paper, Scissors” with a twist. Instead of 3 choices, you play with 4 elements.They are WATER, FIRE, AIR and EARTH.The rule is WATER beats FIRE. FIRE beats AIR. AIR beats EARTH and EARTH beats WATER.Your selection is shown on the right of the screen and the computer’s choice is shown on the left.There are a total of 10 rounds per game.To begin, the computer keeps throwing out the elements.You keep your eyes on the computer’s choices and when it comes to the right moment for a hit, press the DOWN key to conquer.You can change your element by pressing the LEFT and RIGHT keys. Remember, the computer gives you very little time to think.You must hit as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the faster the computer throws out the elements.You must win at least 5 rounds out of the 10 to get any points.Your total scores are stored in the Status Report Menu which builds your KODAI DJINNS™ power for future battles. WATER FIRE EARTH AIR 5. Kill the Monster Put your KODAI DJINNS™ monster to the test against another KODAI DJINNS™ warrior. The battleground – inside your yo-yo! In Round 1, you have 30 seconds to defend yourself from a fireball attack.When you see a spinning yo-yo on the screen, throw your yo-yo as hard and fast as possible so your yo-yo lights up brightly. As you yo-yo, you will see a firewall rising up in front of your monster.The faster you yo-yo, the stronger the firewall will become.You can either throw the yo-yo for the full 30 seconds or you can stop any time by pressing the DOWN key. If the firewall is strong, it will withstand the blast and protect your monster. If it is weak, the firewall will collapse and your monster will be hit and lose energy. In Round 2, it’s your turn to strike back. Again, you have 30 seconds to charge up your monster by throwing the yo-yo.Throw the yo-yo as you did before when you see the spinning yo-yo on the screen. Depending on your monster’s strength, your opponent will either get blown off the screen or it will survive.You will gain points if the other monster gets blown away or lose points if it survives.Your total scores are stored in the Status Report Menu which builds your KODAI DJINNS™ power for future battles. THE OPPONENT YOUR MONSTER 6. Showdown To play Showdown, you’ll need to compete head-to-head with another KODAI DJINNS™ owner. When you see a spinning yo-yo on your LCD screen, you and your opponent will have 30 seconds to yo-yo using your skill, speed and strength.The computer inside your yo-yo will record your individual skill levels. When the 30 seconds expires (the beeping sound stops), place the yo-yos together with the red Wireless Ports touching each other and keep them steady. Press the DOWN keys on both yo-yos and after a short while the winner will be determined. The victor will get a thumbs-up and 1 point.The loser will get a thumbs-down and be granted no points. In the result of a tie, a handshake symbol will appear.The accumulated scores are stored in the Status Report Menu. WIRELESS PORT 7. Online Monster Battle The ultimate test of your KODAI DJINNS™ power will require you to take on another KODAI DJINNS™ owner using your built-in Wireless Port.Your monster will draw upon all the energy collected from the scores you’ve accumulated in games 1-6. NOTE: During battle, there will be other factors at play that will determine the winner, so having higher scores than your opponent won’t necessarily guarantee victory.To compete in this supreme showdown, you must have at least 10 points in each of the previous 6 games. If you see a STOP sign, it means that you are not qualified.You will need to accumulate more points. Go back to Games 1 through 6 and play to increase your scores. This ultimate competition has 2 stages – the Element Battle and then the Monster Battle. WIRELESS PORT STAGE 1 – The Element Battle... This is a 3-round battle. You will have to win 2 rounds in order to win this stage.The screen randomly selects and then shows your element and waits for your command.You can change the element by pressing the LEFT and RIGHT keys. But remember, don’t let your opponent see what you pick.Your opponent must do the same.When both of you have picked you elements, press the DOWN keys.The screens will turn black hiding your choices. Now, place the yo-yo’s together with the red Wireless Ports touching each other and keep them steady. After a short while, the results will be revealed. Your screens will show the selected elements.The winner will get extra energy scores to carry forward to the final Monster Battle. NOTE: You can skip Stage 1 altogether if you decide to. Just press the UP key right after you enter this stage.The game will proceed to Stage 2 immediately. STAGE 2 –The Monster Battle... Before the monsters fight in the 2nd Stage, you are given 30 seconds to throw the yo-yo to gain last minute energy.When you see a spinning yo-yo on the screen, throw the yo-yo hard so that the light comes on brightly. If you don’t have higher scores than your opponent, throw the yo-yo harder and faster with all your might.This is your last chance! You can stop any time before 30 seconds expires or you can throw for the full 30 seconds.When you are done, place the yo-yo’s together again (red Wireless Ports touching) and press the DOWN key immediately. Don’t move them until the screens show the monsters fighting.When they are done, the result will be shown on the screen.The winner will get a thumbs-up and the loser will get a thumbs-down. A handshake symbol represents a tie.The scores will be recorded in the Status Report Menu. THE MENU IT EMS THE CONTROL FUNCTIONS Hibernation This function puts your KODAI DJINNS™ monster into hibernation.You should activate this function if you won’t be playing for more than a week.When activated, time will stand still. The screen will black out. All activities will stop.Your monster’s lifespan will be preserved and its scores and status will remain unchanged.To wake up your monster, press any key. It will reappear on the screen again – power and points still intact. IMPORTANT NOTE: Even if you are in hibernation mode, you will need to yo-yo from time to time to keep your battery active. If you don’t, the battery will eventually die out. SPEAKER ON Turn ON the speaker for volume. SPEAKER OFF Turn OFF the speaker for no volume. Status Report Menu The Status Report Menu lists point totals in all the games you've played, plus some additional information about your monster. Press the Down key to enter the Menu then the LEFT & RIGHT keys to scroll across. Press the UP or the DOWN key to exit at any time. It already features a rechargeable battery to supply power. The battery relies on the built-in, environmentally friendly electric generator to receive charging.The generator is activated by throwing the yo-yo. So, always remember to throw your yo-yo from time to time to keep the batteries in full charge.
