Welcome to Las Vegas
Las Vegas is known for its glitz,
glamour and endless array of
entertainment options. The
exuberant city sparkles like
an oasis as it is located in the
middle of the Mojave Desert at
the southern tip of Nevada. Las
Vegas is the fastest growing city
in North America with 2 acres
of land being developed every
24 hours. If you are looking for
variety and excitement, Las Vegas
will certainly not disappoint.
Las Vegas is the second most
visited attraction in the United
States, boasting over 35 million
tourists each year. There are over
150,000 hotel rooms to choose
from when visiting the city, which
is no surprise considering that
17 out of the 20 largest hotels
in the U.S. are located in Las
Vegas. Whether you decide to
stay on the Famous Strip or in
Bustling Downtown, there will be
accommodations to fit your needs.
The most difficult decision to
make in this endless playground of
lights, casinos, live entertainment,
pools, thrills, hotel lounges, bars,
shopping and gourmet restaurants
is what to do first!

SIGHTSEEING ESSENTIALS
The most important thing to remember about sightseeing
in Las Vegas in June is that it will be HOT and dry! If you
are planning on traveling by foot, the early morning will
be much more pleasant than the sizzling afternoons.
Sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses are recommended for
protecting your skin and eyes from the sun’s rays. Since the
air is so dry, be sure to bring skin lotion and drink plenty of
water when spending time outdoors. Finally, remember to
bring a sweater or light jacket with you if you are planning
on checking out any indoor attractions. Even though it is hot
outside, the majority of casinos and shows tend to keep their
temperatures extremely cool to provide relief from the heat.

Las Vegas is famous for scorching hot summers and mild
winters. With over 300 days of sunshine each year, the
weather in Las Vegas is sure to be bright and clear anytime
you visit. In June the average temperature is a hot 85
degrees with temperatures rising as high as 100 degrees
and dropping to a comfortable 69 degrees in the evening.
Traveling Tips
Although Las Vegas is one of the most laissez-faire
cities in the United States, there are a few laws you
should keep in mind while visiting. In Vegas many
bars stay open 24 hours per day and there is no
closing time for liquor sales. However, driving while
intoxicated and having an open container of alcohol
in your car are both illegal. Also, contrary to popular
belief, solicitation is NOT legal in Las Vegas. Finally,
as a safety precaution, keep an eye on your purse,
change bucket, or chips when gaming. Las Vegas is
one of the safest places to visit, but it’s still smart to
be cautious when money is involved.

Walking Tips
walking
Since most of the action in
Las Vegas is all within a few
miles, many people choose
walking as their preferred
method of transportation,
especially when they are out
exploring and sightseeing.
1. Obey walk signals at traffic
lights. Many motorists are also
tourists, so they tend to be
sightseeing instead of paying
attention to their surroundings.
2. When walking on the Strip
you will be handed pamphlets
with content you may find
objectionable. If not interested,
simply do not hold out your
hand. The solicitors will not
harass you if you ignore them.
3. Wear comfortable shoes.
4. Bring plenty of water as the
weather will make you hot and
dehydrated.
free Public Transportation

Exploring Las Vegas
The Las Vegas that tourists travel from far and wide to visit consists of the
flashy Strip, glamorous Fremont Street (downtown), and the more affordable
Boulder Strip. Las Vegas is packed with casinos, themed hotels, shopping, and
countless entertainment options that will thrill your senses. The combination
of flashing lights, glitzy signs, and unique architecture breeds an atmosphere of
excitement and fun. There’s so much to do in Vegas that you will barely have
time to sleep!
The Las vegas Strip
The Strip is undeniably the most famous locale in Las Vegas. It is a 4-plus mile
long section of Las Vegas Boulevard and it is considered to be Vegas’ main attraction. The Strip is bursting at the seams with elaborate themed hotels and
casinos. The variety of architectural themes is truly unmatched as you can enjoy
the magnificence of the New York City Skyline, the splendor of Paris, the mystery
of Egypt, the decadence of Ancient Rome, the serenity of the South Seas, and
much more all within a few miles.
The Strip is divided into three distinct walking areas: South Strip, Center Strip,
and Northern Strip. The southern end of the Strip is closest to McCarran International Airport and stretches from the Mandalay Bay Hotel to Tropicana Avenue.
The South Strip is usually quite populated as it contains The Luxor, Excalibur, the
MGM Grand, and New York New York, which are all crowd favorites in Las Vegas.
The Center is the most crowded area of the Strip and runs from Harmon Avenue
to Sands Avenue. Some of the most famous and luxurious Las Vegas hotels/
casinos, including the Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, the Mirage, and the Venetian, can
be found here. There are also three shopping centers, the Grand Canal Shoppes,
the Forum Shops and the Miracle Mile Shops located here.
The north end of the Strip is the longest, stretching from Sands to Sahara Avenue. It contains a wide array of fun and exciting hotels/casinos including Circus
Circus, the Riviera, and the Stratosphere. The Las Vegas Convention Center can
also be found on the northern end of the Strip.

The boulder strip
Charming vintage hotels such
as the Golden Nugget and The
Plaza coupled with a hypnotic
array of 12.5 million LED lights,
and permanent party atmosphere make Las Vegas’ downtown unlike any other. The
“Fremont Street Experience”
consists of a sparkling luminous
covered pedestrian mall where
you will find endless amounts
of excitement in the form of
light shows, free concerts, street
performances, and vendors selling food, alcohol, and souvenirs,
and of course gambling.
Often referred to as “The Other
Las Vegas Strip,” the Boulder
Strip is an area of the Boulder
Highway that has its own set of
hotels, casinos and entertainment options. Although not as
glamorous as Las Vegas Boulevard or Fremont Street, you can
often find amazing deals on
hotels here. There is plenty of
fun to be had on the Boulder
Strip and with Downtown easily
accessible via the Sam’s Town
Shuttle; you can experience
all that Vegas has to offer at a
discounted price.

Healthy
Travel
Traveling for business is a great experience and can be very productive. The key to having a great business trip is to stay healthy. Getting sick while traveling is fairly common
as people tend to over-exert themselves, wearing down their immune systems, and
then coming into contact with a great deal of germs from re-circulated air on planes to
gas pumps and public restrooms. Here are some tips that will help keep you healthy
on your trip.
General Tips
n According to the CDC, washing your hands is the most effective way to prevent
the spread of germs. Therefore, it is extremely important to wash your hands
frequently when traveling as you are constantly touching public commodities.
Also, when traveling for business you will undoubtedly be shaking many hands
and there’s a good chance some of those people will be sick. Be sure to scrub
your hands for at least 30 seconds covering them completely. It is also a good
idea to carry an alcohol-based hand sanitizer for those times when you simply
cannot get to a restroom.
n Continue to eat a healthy balanced diet while traveling. This can be difficult as
food options are often limited to fast food and vending machines when eating
on the go. Seek out restaurants that offer healthy food and pack some healthy
snacks like veggie sticks to munch on while on the road. Also, be sure to drink
plenty of water as dehydration is a common reason people feel ill when traveling. Eating healthy helps keep the immune system strong and your energy
high.
n Luckily, many business trips are so packed with activity that exercise is built right
in. However, if this is not the case, it is important to incorporate exercise into
your trip. Sightseeing on foot is one of the easiest and most fun ways to stay fit
while traveling. If there is no time for that, you can always take a quick jog in
the morning if weather permits or do some jumping jacks and pushups in your
hotel room to get your blood flowing and give yourself an energy boost.
n Finally, don’t overdo it! Get plenty of rest to ensure that your immune system is
strong and that you have plenty of energy to accomplish all of your goals.

Trade Show Tips
Large trade shows consist of a flurry of activity
condensed into a short time span, which is exciting
and can be overwhelming. There are so many
vendors to visit and seminars to attend that we can
sometimes get lost in the shuffle. To get the most
from your trade show experience, it’s important to
have a clear strategy of what you want to accomplish in mind.
Before the Show:
List Your Goals – Writing out your personal and company goals is the first step
in developing a trade show plan.
Review Promotional Material – Check
out the vendors who will be displaying
at the show and make a list of those you
want to see. Next, look at a map of the
trade show floor and decide upon a route
that will allow you to see your vendors
of choice in the most efficient manner.
Finally, look at the seminars that are offered and schedule time to catch those
that are related to your interests.
Pack Appropriately – Be sure to bring
comfortable shoes and a lightweight outfit since trade show floors tend to be hot
and you will undoubtedly be on your feet
for hours on end. Also, pack plenty of
business cards so you never miss a chance
to network.
During the Show:
Review and Reevaluate – Upon arriving
at the show, consult the latest directory
to ensure that none of the vendors you
wanted to see cancelled and determine
if any new vendors signed on that would
be advantageous to visit. Revise your
plan and route if necessary.
Stand your Ground – You only have
limited time at the show, so don’t be
afraid to pass by booths that don’t interest you and cut conversations short if
they are not beneficial.
Be Flexible – While it is important to
stick to your plan, don’t let a great opportunity pass you by. If a vendor that you
are walking by piques your interest, stop
and find out if they have the potential to
be a valuable partner for your business.
After the Show
Organize and Review – Be sure to
organize and prioritize all of the information you’ve gathered. Also, jot down
your thoughts in relation to the vendors
you visited while they are still fresh in
your mind.
Follow up – Reaching out and forming
relationships with vendors and new contacts is extremely important as this is the
whole reason for attending the show.
