Shortland Horne, Golden Patron for Godiva Awakes
www.shortland-horne.co.uk RESI D ENTIAL SALES Shortland Horne, Golden Patron for Godiva Awakes invite you to experience this extraordinary journey Shortland Horne, one of Coventry’s leading independent estate agents and chartered surveyors, is helping the Godiva Awakes project on its way with Gold Patronage. Godiva Awakes is a mechanicallyengineered six metre high animated puppet which will be powered by 100 cyclists on a journey to London accompanied by a carnival of more than 2,000 performers from across the region. It was the brainchild of Imagineer Productions who won their bid to the Cultural Olympiad. David Shortland, director of Shortland Horne, says: “When we first heard about this inspirational project we just had to get involved as it is so ambitious and aspirational. Our city needs to demonstrate to the rest of the country that it has these qualities and Godiva Awakes is the perfect embodiment of what can be achieved through the marriage of creativity and construction. “Shortland Horne believes in playing a full part in the city community whether it be our sponsorship of the arts, sports or local events. The Olympics will be an inspiration to Coventrians like me and I look forward to enjoying a once in a lifetime football experience at the City of Coventry Stadium.” The Godiva Awakes carnival takes place on 28 and 29 July in Coventry city centre. The 500 performers in the July 28 event include 100 drummers, 100 cyclists and the 150-strong Godiva Choir. A further 2,000 people will then take part in the Godiva Carnival the following day as the 33ft tall Lady Godiva is taken around the city as part of the procession. David concludes: “It was wonderful to see the excitement in the city when we saw the Olympic Torch, and I know that the Godiva Awakes project will bring all the crowds out again.” Shortland Horne sponsors The Belgrade Theatre, Criterion Theatre, Earlsdon Festival, Junior Football Teams, The Lord’s Taverners and many other local events.
