Technical Requirements
2 Installation and Licensing
Before you can start ProPlanner, you must install and register the software. You can then use
certain modules free of charge but will need to purchase a license for others.
Please note the technical requirements necessary for installation and operation of the software.
2.1 Technical Requirements

2.2 Installation
1. Select one of the following options:
• Insert the installation CD into your PC's drive. The installation file will start up automatically.
• Call up the following Geberit download page:
http://gpp-update.geberit.com/Download/ProPlanner_2014. Download the
ProPlanner_2014.exe file and double-click on it.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Accept the license agreement and click on Next.
4. Click on Finish to complete the installation.
Note
You may need to install additional updates depending on the update status of your Windows
program.

Starting the Program for the First Time
2.3 Starting the Program for the First Time
The choice of country effects the available modules and product range. The examples shown in
the Training Manual cannot be performed in every country selected.
1. Start ProPlanner by double-clicking on the relevant symbol on your desktop.
 The following window will appear after a short time.
2. Select your country.
 As soon as you have selected a country, you will be assigned to a sales company and a
market. The user interface language will also be set accordingly.
3. Confirm with OK.
 The ProPlanner registration page appears.
Note
If you need to alter the settings for language and market, this can be done via the
File > Program Settings menu.
Subsequent modification of the market setting does not affect existing saved projects.

Registration
2.4 Registration
You must register after starting the program for the first time. Registration is free of charge and
every corporate customer receives a so-called corporate key and a license file. The name of the
individual is entered with private customers in place of the name of the company.
Registering as a new user of ProPlanner 2014
Proceed as follows if your company has not yet used ProPlanner 2014:
1. Select the first registration option.
2. Click on Next.
3. Enter your contact details. These are passed on automatically.
4. Once you have received the corporate key by e-mail, enter it and confirm with Finish.

Registering with a corporate key or license file
Proceed as follows if your company has already used ProPlanner 2014:
1. Select the second registration option.
2. Click on Next.
Important note
Make sure you enter your registration details correctly.
3. Import your company's license file (PLD file) or enter the registration details and corporate
key.
4. Confirm with Finish.

Offline registration
You can register offline if you do not have internet access and your company has not yet
registered.
1. Start ProPlanner 2014 and register as a new user.
2. Call your sales company to obtain a corporate key and further information.
ProPlanner Updater
The ProPlanner Updater informs you about new program versions. The new program version is
automatically downloaded and installed, depending on the setting.

Double-click in the task bar on ProPlanner Updater, to call up the ProPlanner Updater.
Click on Download, to download and install a new program version.
Click on Search for updates, to search for new program versions.
Enter the Language and the Market.
In the Action when a new update is found field, select whether a message is displayed or
whether the download of the program version should start automatically.

The downloaded data is saved in the Downloads folder on your computer.
You can also call up the ProPlanner Updater via the ? > ProPlanner Update menu

Licensing
2.5 Licensing
After registration, you can use some modules free of charge but will have to purchase license
packages for other modules. You can use the licenses for one or more computers.
Purchasing a license package
1. Start up ProPlanner 2014.
2. In the menu bar click on the question mark ? and select License management.
3. Select a license package and click in the relevant line on Administrate.
4. Enter your e-mail address and send the license order.
5. Call your sales company should you not have access to the internet.
Activating a company license
Should your company have already purchased license packages, you can activate them as
follows:

Save the license file to your computer.
Start up ProPlanner 2014.
In the menu bar click on the question mark ? and select License management.
Click on Import license data and select the directory in which the license file is saved.
Using company licenses as multi-computer licenses
You can use every ProPlanner license on several computers.

In the menu bar click on the question mark ? and select License management.
Click on Export license data and save the license file, for example on a USB memory stick.
Save and activate the license data on other computers.
Note
Geberit ProPlanner can be started several times so that several Windows user accounts can
simultaneously access an installation, which, for instance lies on a server.

Opening a project
Existing projects can be opened. Projects are displayed as soon as projects have been saved in
the current version of ProPlanner.
First steps
Find help and information on innovations in the current version of ProPlanner here. There is also
a link with which you can call up other documents and films.

You can select a subproject and start ProPlanner in the Create new project area.

New Project
3 Projects
A project can contain several subprojects. Select a subproject at the start of a project. You can
add other subprojects to the project at a later stage. You can enter general data, such as Name,
Numbers and Addresses, to the project and subproject.
3.1 New Project
As soon as you create a new project in ProPlanner, you can choose whether you wish to enter
project data and building properties using assistants at the start of a project or whether you wish
to enter the program directly and enter the project data and building properties at a later stage.
Creating a project without project data and building properties
1. Uncheck Retrieve project data when creating a new project and Retrieve building
properties when creating a new project.
2. Click on a subproject in the Create a new project area.
 ProPlanner starts with the subproject you have selected.
Note
You can only select subprojects that you have licensed.
Creating a project with project data
1. Check Retrieve project data when creating a new project.
2. Click on a subproject in the Create a new project area.
 The New project assistant appears.
3. Click on Project information and enter the data for the project.
This information appears in the header of the drawing area and on the cover sheets of lists.

4. Click on Plumber/sanitary engineer to change the company logo and enter the address of
the person responsible for the project.
The logo and plumber/sanitary engineer's details will appear in the drawing header and on
the cover sheets of lists.
5. Click on Change company logo and select an image file.
6. Click on Open to carry over the image file into the New project assistant.
 The logo is now saved for all new projects and subprojects.
7. To accept the settings as the default for future projects, click on Save as default.
 The data will be saved on your computer.
8. Click on Next and document the Change history of the project.
The Change history appears on the cover sheets of lists.

9. Click on Next to define the Hourly rate and the Value Added Tax for Offers.
10. Click on Finish to exit the assistant.
 A new project with the selected subproject appears.
Creating a project with building properties
Note
Building properties can only be entered for Detailed Planning 3D and Schematic Planning
subprojects.
1. Check Retrieve building properties when creating a new project.
2. Click on Detailed Planning 3D or Schematic Planning in the Create a new project area.
 The selected subproject is opened and the Building properties window appears.
3. Accept the building properties and click on Close.
Note
You will learn how to adapt the building properties in the respective Detailed Planning 3D and
Schematic Planning Training Manuals.
Saving a project
The new project has not yet been saved and is therefore identified by a star:

Tip
Remember to save your projects regularly.
1. Click on Save in the menu bar.
2. Enter a File name in the Save project as window.
3. Click on Save.

As soon as a project is saved, it will appear in the Open project window on the Start
page and a link will be automatically created. If the file path is changed, the link to the file
will no longer function
A backup file (.bak) is also created alongside the ProPlanner file (.gpp) in the storage
location. The backup file contains the last but one saved copy of the project. The most
recent saved copy is contained in the ProPlanner file. If you need to, you can rename the
extension of the backup file as .gpp and call it up in ProPlanner

Subprojects
3.2 Subprojects
You can create and edit several subprojects within a project. There are various functions available
to you to manage your subprojects so that you retain an overview of them.
Creating subprojects
1. Click on Add subproject in the File menu.
2. Select a subproject.
 The subproject selected appears in the Project window.
Renaming subprojects
ProPlanner automatically names subprojects according to their respective type. If you wish to
create several subprojects of the same type, you can rename the subprojects to differentiate
more easily between them.
1. Right-click on the subproject in the Project window and select Rename subproject in the
pop-up menu.
2. Enter a designation and confirm with Enter.
Copying subprojects
If you wish to design an installation several times, you can copy this installation as follows:
1. In the Project window, double-click on a subproject in the Quantity field.
2. Enter the required quantity of subprojects and confirm with Enter.
 The number just entered appears after the subproject. The quantities will be adjusted in
the material list to match this figure.

Data Export
Graphic Export for Installation Systems
4 Data Export
You have the following export options:
•

Graphic export (DXF, DWG, JPEG, BMP etc.)
AVA export (GAEB, UGL)
Excel export (XLS, CSV)
Note
You can export CAD data using AutoCAD 2000 to AutoCAD 2013. You can export versions
2010, 2011 and 2012 using ProPlanner formats AutoCAD DXF 2010 and AutoCAD DWG
2010.
4.1 Graphic Export for Installation Systems
Proceed as follows in the Installation Systems module:
1. Double-click on an installation wall in the Position elements window.
 The Installation wall window appears.
2. Select a view in the preview (Side view, Front view or Plan view).
3. Click on Graphics export.
4. Select a File type.
5. Click on OK.
 The Save as window appears.
6. Enter a File name.
7. Select the relevant file format for your CAD program as the File type.

4.2 Graphic Export for All Other Modules
Proceed as follows in the Detailed Planning 3D, Schematic Planning and Roof Drainage System
modules:
1. Click on Export in the File menu and select Graphic.
 The Graphics export window appears.
2. Select a View in the Detailed Planning 3D module.
3. Select a File type.
4. Click on OK.
 The Save as window appears.
5. Enter a File name.
6. Select the relevant file format for your CAD program as the File type.

7. Click on Save.
4.3 AVA Export
ProPlanner provides a variety of interfaces and file formats to provide a uniform standard for the
exchange of data, for example for specifications or requests for offerss. The English translation of
the abbreviation "AVA" is Tendering, Contracting, Invoicing.
1. Click on Export in the File menu and then on AVA.

2. In the Content area, select whether you wish to export the project or the current subproject.
3. Select a Data format: UGL, GAEB DataExpert etc. and enter the relevant settings. The
following types of query are available for UGL:
• AB: For order confirmations from wholesalers to contractors
• AN: For enquiries from contractors to wholesalers
• BE: For orders by contractors to wholesalers
• PA: For price offers by wholesalers to contractors
• TB: For call-off orders by contractors to wholesalers
Note
The data formats and setting options available depend on the market set in the program
settings.
4. Select a Storage location and a File name.
5. Click on Export to export the file.
Tip
IGH 451 is available as an additional export format in the Swiss market.
4.4 Excel Export
You can save lists as Excel files via the Print dialog. Each list is entered as an individual table
sheet.
Note
The Microsoft Office® version you have installed determines which format can be exported.
Proceed as follows:
1. Click on Print lists in the File menu.
 The Print lists window appears.
2. Select subprojects, installation units and modules for which you wish to create Excel lists in
the Source data area.

Open the range of list types in the Lists area.
Check or uncheck the checkboxes to select list types.
Select Excel export in the Output area.
Click on Print.
 The Save as window appears.
7. Select a File name and a storage location.
8. Click on Save.
 The Excel file will be created.
