A DEVELOPMENT OF DISTINCTION The use of glass and brick gives a sense of tradition, while the private roof terraces create a striking contemporary look. These elements, along with the mixture of brick and render finishes, mean that the building is distinctive in both its form and build quality. AN OASIS OF CALM Brackenbury Square’s distinctive architecture is matched by the contemporary landscaping of the residents’ courtyard. Lawns, paved areas and seating combine to create the perfect city garden, exclusive to residents of Brackenbury Square. AN URBAN V I L L A G E Living at Brackenbury Square, you will soon discover the many compelling qualities of Brackenbury Village and Hammersmith Grove. The two areas create an unmistakable urban village ambience. Hammersmith Grove is a conservation area characterised by handsome period buildings and tree-lined avenues, while Brackenbury Village feels local and welcoming, with its attractive pubs, restaurants and independent shops. Here, you can escape the city bustle and enjoy a life of independence, selecting quality produce from the local artisan delicatessen or traditional butcher, and taking time to enjoy an expertly made espresso, or dine in one of the many highly regarded restaurants. It all feels a world away from the city, yet central London is easily accessible, thanks to excellent local transport connections. Computer Generated Image of Brackenbury Square. Indicative only. This is food shopping as it should be: independent shops selling sustainably sourced and lovingly crafted products. You’ll stroll down to the village when you want to track down the ingredients for a special recipe, or simply want the best fresh bread you can find. A friendly reception is assured, for these are shopkeepers who value personal service and soon get to know their customers and their preferences. Delicatessens abound, allowing you a delicious choice of cheeses, olives, oils, breads, wine and other delights. Several of the local deli’s are also cafés, where you can enjoy very good coffee and cakes, and there are independent patisseries where you can pick up tempting sweet treats. Stenton is the local butcher, a family company established in 1983. They take pride in offering organic and free range meat in the most elegant cuts: bavette, onglet, noisettes. In addition, their range of gourmet sausages is famous in the neighbourhood. Photography taken at Stenton’s Family Butchers, Aldensley Road WINE AND DINE Some of west London’s best restaurants can be found in Brackenbury Village. Gastro-pubs such as The Grove are a speciality here, offering quality dining in a traditional setting, as well as a village social hub, with at least one of them hosting jazz evenings, quiz nights and events to celebrate occasions such as Burn’s Night. The Brackenbury is a long established restaurant that has recently been re-launched to great acclaim by the former manager of the legendary River Café. The speciality is meticulously executed British and Mediterranean food. Or when something more spicy is in order, numerous ethnic restaurants abound in the area. Photography taken at The Grove, Hammersmith Grove Photography taken at The Brackenbury Restaurant, Brackenbury Road LIFE AND FASHION London fashionistas flock to Westfield, to shop at deluxe brands including Burberry, Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Louis Vuitton, as well as high street fashion brands such as Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and House of Fraser. Also under the roof of this glittering mall are dozens of bars and restaurants and a Vue multiplex: it’s more a lifestyle hub than a shopping centre. Your new home can also be exceptionally well-dressed if you journey to nearby Chiswick. The High Road is an excellent hunting ground if you are looking for antiques, retro and French furniture, bed linens, lighting, tableware, art and picture framing, and much of it is unique or unusual. Chiswick has a wealth of eateries, independent shops and places to see and be seen. Remember too, that the West End is easily accessible. Take the Underground and you will be at central London’s shops, restaurants, theatres, galleries and events in less than half an hour. Keeping fit is always an important part of the urban lifestyle, and the local area offers a wide range of options, including gyms, sports clubs, yoga classes, spas and health clubs including Fitness First on Hammersmith Grove itself.
