Glen Dornoch - Glens Golf Group
14 Glen Dornoch Glen Dornoch Designed by Clyde Johnston in a tribute to the legendary Donald Ross, Glen Dornoch is a traditional course where each hole flows with the natural terrain of lakes, centuries-old live oaks, and spectacular marsh and river views. Featuring rare-for-the-area 35-foot elevation changes and South Carolina’s most beautiful stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway. This is truly a wonderful site for a championship golf course. Each hole seems to have been crafted by nature rather than by man. The three finishing holes are among the world's best. The magnificent Glen Dornoch club house features a traditionally-decorated pro shop with an extensive fashion collection. The Pub offers homemade salads, fresh sandwiches, and delicious daily specials...all served with a tranquil view of the unique double green of 9 and 18, plus the scenic Intracoastal Waterway. Make sure to take enough club for uphill second, must clear front bunkers. Keep drive as close to bunkers on left as you dare, to give you best angle for your second. Avoid pot bunker and over the green. • 79 • 104 • 157 1 2 Handicap 11 Par 4 333 308 292 263 246 Red Handicap 11 Neat little dogleg left, play short and safe, you have a blind second; go for it with the drive, keeping it slightly right, as trouble is worst on left. Handicap 9 Par 4 410 342 335 305 270 Red Handicap 9 A redan green, just play the yardage. • 53 • 78 • 104 185 yds. to clear bunkers from white marker 3 Handicap 13 Par 4 300 285 272 255 225 Red Handicap 13 4 Handicap 17 Par 3 168 155 137 127 117 Red Handicap 17 • 120 Glen Dornoch 16 Try to keep your drive down left side for best angle to carry wetlands on second shot. Keep second shot to left side of fairway for best angle approaching the green. Very deep green, make sure of your yardage. • 61 • 97 • 125 66 yds. to carry wetlands. 176 to 2nd wetland. 262 yds. from white marker to wetlands. 215 to bunker. 5 Handicap 3 Par 5 590 560 532 515 497 Red Handicap 1 There is a lot of fairway left, the key is to place your ball as close to wetlands as possible to get a shorter shot to green. Second is • again uphill, take 62 extra club to carry front bunker. Avoid the left of green, only real trouble. • 134 74 yards to carry wetlands • 136 231 yds. from white marker to fairway bunker 6 Handicap 7 Par 4 410 394 352 333 300 Red Handicap 7 • 156 7 Handicap 15 Par 3 192 176 166 150 130 Red Handicap 15 • 182 • 268 Glen Dornoch Keep drive left center, safe second should favor left side again; however, the best place to be is as close to right edge of fairway as you dare for best angle into green for the third shot. 17 Stay left off the tee. Second is deceivingly uphill; take enough club. • 68 • 116 214 yds. to crest of fairway from white marker • 128 • • 241 8 9 Handicap 5 Par 5 570 540 512 495 415 Tee shot not defined well because of wetlands. A finger of wetland on right measures yards from blue tee, either play short of it, or take enough club to make sure you can clear it. The second and third shots are straight away. 76 yds. to carry wetland from front edge. 10 Handicap 4 Par 5 535 508 472 436 410 Red Handicap 6 • 207 Handicap 1 Par 4 460 420 406 387 314 Red Handicap 5 Red Handicap 3 219 yds. to wetlands from white marker 178 Keep drive a little right of center for best angle on second. • • 173 150 • 204 yds. to carry tips of waste area from white marker 259 11 Handicap 10 Par 4 386 365 351 329 306 Red Handicap 8 • 156 Glen Dornoch 18 Live oak on left prevents you from aiming too far left, but drive should favor left side. Take enough club to make sure you carry the nasty little pot bunker fronting this green. Drive should be left center to set up a second shot that is very demanding. Consider laying back to 125 yards to avoid trees on right if second strays too far right. 279 yds. to wetland from white marker. 12 • Handicap 14 Par 4 350 335 330 318 260 Red Handicap 14 What you see is what you get! Just play the yardage, favoring left side of green. 204 13 Handicap 8 Par 5 525 505 487 465 415 Red Handicap 2 Keep drive down left side of fairway; a short hole, so placement more important than distance. Second should carry on to green, as there is a diabolical mound hidden from view just short of green to deflect short shots. • 67 242 yds. to front of fairway waste area from blue marker 14 Handicap 18 Par 3 183 161 147 131 77 Red Handicap 18 15 Handicap 12 Par 4 380 360 342 295 285 Red Handicap 12 • 115 Glen Dornoch 19 As close to bunkers on right as you dare, leaves you in best position to approach this green. Pay attention to the yardage to the crest of the hill. You don’t want to hit it over. Scary second, but you can’t deny its beauty! 253 yds to crest of fairway from blue marker • 172 • 187 16 Handicap 2 • 232 Par 4 431 413 371 348 330 Red Handicap 4 Deep green, play the yardage. Pay attention to pin placement. 17 Handicap 16 Par 3 212 182 164 115 105 Red Handicap 16 From blue tee: 250 yards to bunkers on right-hand fairway, 230 yards to carry wetlands to lefthand fairway. If you carry wetlands, this leaves a short iron to the green. Take it up the right hand fairway and you will have a long iron into a deep green. 18 112 • • 142 • 175 • 202 Handicap 6 Par 4 455 427 367 350 300 Red Handicap 10 From the white tee: 161 yards to carry wetlands to left-hand fairway; 215 yards to bunker
