Review of a new film by Llando MacBelleve, Our Critic for “films set in the provinces” Wow! Well if you’re after fantastical fantasy, this is a five star movie! Just make sure you
don’t take it too seriously - some folk apparently do.
The action packed but entirely unbelievable movie starts with deputy FM of a fictional country,
“Scotland” giving a speech to EU leaders. This is the kind of fairy-tale nonsense separatists
could only dream of and could never happen in the real world. If it were to happen in the real
world, we would know about it of course, because the media would be all over it!
The movie, The Brave Bravehearts of Brigadoon portrays the deputy FM of “Scotland”, one
Wendy Darling, as a brave, strong woman (so clearly fantasy on that level too). Sadly, she is
deputy FM in a mysterious parliament that only appears for a short time every 300 years,
engages in some keech song and dance routines, then disappears back into a romantic mist.
The EU leaders fall in love with her, little realising that she, her parliament and “country” are
merely twee fantasies, its colourful Braveheart history entirely made up.
