Whether you are looking into the Adult School to earn your high school diploma, prepare for one of the high school equivalency tests, learn new skills for your professional or personal growth, or you are exploring enrichment classes, we thank you for your trust in serving your educational needs. It is our commitment to provide the best educational environment at all times. Last year we were able to offer new courses in healthcare and welding which were very successful in helping develop skills needed by employers. This year, we continue to provide high quality Career and Technical Education classes and have several new course offerings that we are very excite d about. You can take a course to become a certified tax preparer, learn the skills needed to become a paraeducator in the school setting, or open your own home daycare after taking our new Childcare Business Development course. We have worked to develop our personal enrichment classes which focus on helping students gain valuable personal skills. We now offer Art (Drawing, Painting, and other mediums), the Art of Welding, Digital Photography, and Photoshop. Our individualized high school diploma and equivalency classes focus on online learning to assist students in obtaining the necessary skills and credits to complete their program. Additionally, our English Language Acquisition (formerly ESL) classes provide the best instructional programs in our region. We look forward to serving your needs and believe you will find the changes we are making to our school to be more student centered, more inclusive, and just plain more fun. Explore Microsoft Windows, the internet, and email. Students will learn important business language and accounting terminology, fundamental accounting concepts, the accounting equation, the double entry syst em, debits and credits, adjusting entries, financial statements, posting transactions, and more. Prerequisite: Algebra 1 or equivalency. California is one of the few states that regulate professional tax preparers. California law requires that anyone who prepares tax returns for a fee to be either an attorney, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Enrolled Agent (EA), or a CTEC registered tax preparer (CRTP). This course provides the required 60 hours of instruction for you to obtain your CTEC Registration. Instruction will also be given on how to obtain your IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) and your tax preparer bond —both required for CTEC Registration. Upon successful completion of this course, your qualifying exam results will be automatically uploaded to the CTEC. This one day course will teach you everything you need to know to be a successful notary public. The course is provided by an official notary public education provider for the State of California. Becoming a childcare professional requires a little bit of research, the ability to obtain adequate licensing, and the capability of learning how to run and operate a business from your home. This course provides individuals with the basics necessary to start a home daycare business. Learn everything from how to define your motivations and capabilities to the necessary legal requirements involved in starting a home daycare business. Students receive classroom instruction and tests in Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Ability to Assist and Employability Skills. Must attend all 30 hours to receive a certificate of completion. Students will learn to set up and operate safely all equipment for MIG and TIG welding. MIG welding instruction includes manipulation of the welding gun and adjusting machine settings. Subjects covered in the first half of the course include an overview of Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Infection Control and Decontamination. The second half of the course focuses on the Sterile Processing Department. Topics include Packaging, Sterilization, and Instrumentation. Upon completion of this course, students will be presented with a Certificate of Competency. This certificate satisfies the educational requirements for admission to challenge the National Institute for the Certification of Healthcare Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel certification examination (NICHSPDP). NICHSPDP is a nationally recognized certification organization that has the approval of the American Hospital Association. Students will receive an EMS Safety Services Certification card that is good for two years upon completion of the class. IMPORTANT: Must be able to read English sufficiently to understand ski ll book. Fee includes EMS Safety Services certification card good for two years. Bring an exercise mat or towel to class and a snack. Students must be in good physical shape to kneel on the floor for training. Students will not be admitted late. Certain fees are CASH ONLY. If a check is returned due to insufficient funds, a $25 fee will be assessed. ● Please Note: Cash refunds are limited to cash on hand. Refunds may be processed in the form of a check from the Fairfield Suisun Unified School District office and may require 2-3 weeks for processing. ● Refunds for payments made by check will be held 3 weeks and may require proof of check having been cleared by the bank before refund is paid. PearsonVue, GED, HiSET TESTING In January 2014, a new generation of GED tests were introduced. You may not combine any GED scores earned before January 2014 with the current tests. No previous scores can be carried over. For more information, call the Testing Office 421-4391. NO SMOKING POLICY Smoking is not permitted anywhere on Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District campuses. The Fairfield-Suisun Adult School is a smoke-free campus.
