This product should not be used near water, i.e. a bathtub, sink, swimming pool, wet basement, etc.
This product should be located so that its position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. It should not
be placed flat against a wall or placed in a built up enclosure that will impede the flow of cooling air.
This product should not be placed near a source of heat such as stove, radiator, or another heat producing
amplifier.
Connect only to a power supply of the type marker on the unit adjacent to the power supply cord.
Never break off the ground pin on a power supply cord.
Power supply cords should always be handled carefully. Never walk or place equipment on power supply
cords. Periodically check cords for cuts or signs of stress, especially at the plug and the point where the
chord exits the unit.
The power supply cord should be unplugged when the unit is to be unused for long periods of time.
If this product is to be mounted in an equipment rack, rear support should be provided.
The user should allow easy access to any mains plug, mains coupler and mains switch used in conjunction
with this unit thus making it readily operable.
Metal parts can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The vinyl covering used on some units can be cleaned with
a damp cloth or ammonia based household cleaner if necessary. Disconnect the unit from the power
supply before cleaning.
Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the unit through any
ventilation holes or openings. On no account place drinks on the unit.
A qualified service technician should check the unit if:
The power cord has been damaged
Anything has fallen or spilled into the unit
The unit does not appear to operate correctly
The unit has been dropped or the enclosure damaged.
The user should not attempt to service the equipment. All service work is done by a qualified
service technician.
Exposure to extremely high noise levels may cause a permanent hearing gloss. Individuals vary
considerably in susceptibility to noise induced hearing loss, but nearly everyone will lose some hearing if
exposed to sufficiently intense noise for a sufficient time. The U.S. Government's Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA) has specified the following permissible noise level exposure.

According to OSHA, any exposure in excess of the above permissible limits could result in some hearing loss. Ear
plugs or protectors in the ear canals or over the ears must be worn when operating this amplification system in
order to prevent a permanent hearing loss if exposure exceeds the limits set forth above. To ensure against
potentially dangerous exposure to high sound pressure levels it is recommended that all persons exposed to
equipment capable of producing high sound pressure levels such as this amplification system be protected by
Lightning Bolt Symbol:

The TT range sets the standard by which all-TRUE tube amps will be measured. The TT50/100 combos and heads are designed to offer
the player that exclusive high-value boutique sound that every serious player aspires to.
You may find at first that the front panel of your new TT amplifier seems a little daunting. Don't be put off as a great deal of thought has
gone into the layout of the controls and features. Please follow this instruction manual carefully and all of your questions will be
answered.

BEFORE SWITCHING ON
After unpacking your amplifier check that it is supplied with a three pin 'grounded' (or earthed) lead, relevant to your region. Before plugging
into the power supply ensure you are connecting to a grounded earth outlet of the correct voltage.
Your Laney valve amplifier has undergone a thorough two stage, pre-delivery inspection, involving actual play testing, as well as valve burn in.
Valves are the most important component in your Laney valve amp. However they are also the most fragile component. The glass envelope
and valve filaments can be damaged in transit without any apparent signs of damage to the box, amp or valves. Valve damage is however quite
simple to diagnose and even more simple to remedy. These procedures are explained later in this manual..
If there is a problem with your Laney valve amplifier please contact the store where you purchased your amplifier and they will help you resolve
the problem. If for some reason they cannot help you, please call our support line who will be pleased to help.

BRIGHT SWITCH: Adds brightness and sparkle to the upper frequencies of the amplifier. These upper frequencies are more noticeable at low volume
positions.
VOLUME: Sets the level of the Clean channel - channel 1.
DRIVE: Sets the level of Drive for the Crunch Channel - channel 2
MODERN SWITCH: The Modern switch applies a degree of compression to the signal which smoothes out the sound providing smooth sustain
BRIGHT SWITCH: Adds brightness and sparkle to the upper frequencies of the amplifier. More noticeable at low drive settings.
MASTER: Sets the individual level of the Crunch channel - channel 2
DRIVE: Sets the level of drive for the Led channel -channel 3
XPAND: At high levels of gain and volume, the natural tendency for a valve amp is to compress, this has the effect of limiting the dynamic range of the note.
The XPAND switch gives you the option of reducing the level of compression and allowing more dynamic freedom of the note should you require it. If you are
not playing at high gain and volume levels then the Xpand switch can also be used to get some interesting effects at low volume levels. At low levels the
Xpand switch functions as a mini gate and some interesting volume swell type effects are achievable.
MASTER: Sets the individual level of the Lead channel - channel 3
CHANNEL SELECT SWITCHES: Allows the user to select the the preamp channel of choice. This feature is also footswitchable and midi controllable. For more
information on MIDI switching see the MIDI application section later in this manual.
VOLUME 1: Sets the overall listening volume of the amplifier.
VOLUME 2: Switches in the alternate master volume level. Can be used to give a volume boost to the amplifier irrespective of which channel is selected on
the pre amplifier. For instance if you are playing a clean passage want to boost the volume for a solo section simply set the level of Volume 2 higher than that
of volume 1, when the appropriate time comes simply switch from volume 1 to volume 2 via the footswitch. In this case you will get an increase in overall
volume without getting an increase in the level of gain. Applies for Channels 2 and 3 as well.
BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE : As with most amplifiers, these controls tailor the frequency response of the amplifier to get the sound you desire. Remember,
while playing at high volume levels, lowering the bass control will help maintain note definition. Equally, increasing the treble and mid, may help project the
sound further and ‘cut’ through everyone else.
REVERB: Sets the individual channel reverb level. Please be aware that the individual channel reverb level determines the level of channel signal sent to the
onboard reverb. The overall level of reverb is controlled by the master reverb level (32). If the master reverb level is set to zero no reverb will be heard
irrespective of what level is shown by the individual channel reverb send
BOOST: Switches in an extra tube gain stage for those who just cant get enough.
DAMPING: Damping is the term applied to the interaction of an amplifier in response to its load - in this case its speaker. The higher the damping factor the
more the speaker is controlled in it's response to an input. To the listener this is heard as a tighter more defined low-end response. The Damping control lets
you experiment with two levels of damping factor in order to get the bass response you're looking for. It is normal for this control to make a clicking sound
when operated.
AMP MUTE: This mutes the output section of the amplifier and the line out socket. I t does not effect the signal path through the pre amplifier so sends to the
effects loops and record out are maintained allowing signal levels to be monitored silently and silent recording via the record out.
REVERB: Sets the overall master level of reverb. Works in conjunction with the individual channel reverb sends.
FX MIX: Determines the level of signal from the FX Return jack.. With the FX MIX turned to zero the effects loop is bypassed and no signal appears frpm the
FX return jack. With the FX MIX set at 5 the effects loop functions as a side chain effects loop where 50% of the signal is returned from the effects return (Wet)
whilst the remaining 50% is the original (Dry) signal. With the FX MIX set to 10 the effects loop functions as an insert loop where 100% of the signal is
returned from the effects return (wet) and none of the original (dry) signal is present.The individual level of each channel sent to the FX MIX control is
determined by the individual channel volumes.
Note, when not using the effects loop set the FX MIX to zero.
If nothing is connected to the effects loop and the FX NIX is set to 100% no signal will be heard from the amplifier.
PRESENCE: Adds high end frequencies to the power amp stage of the amplifier giving it more definition and brilliance.
STANDBY: Use to enable/disable the high voltage DC to the valves. The heaters are left on to keep the tubes warm and ready to run. (Head only)
POWER: Mains power switch for the unit. Always turn off when not in use for long periods. (Head only)

POWER SOCKET : Socket for connecting mains power. Please note that the mains power fuse is also located here.
Replace only with same type and rating.
2 ON/OFF SWITCH: Main power switch for the amplifier. (Combo only)
3 FUSE HOLDER: Fuse holder for HT Fuse. Should this fuse fail, please replace the fuse with exactly the same type of fuse.
4 FOOTSWITCH: Use this socket to connect your FS6 footswitch only. No other device can be connected to this port. The FS6 allows
the user to remotely switch between Channel 1,2,3,Reverb and Volume1/2 switches on the amplifier. You can control the switches
using the footswitch and the front panel switches.
5 LINE OUT: Provides a line level signal (Nominal 600mV) for connecting to another TT amplifier via the power amp in or FX Return
socket. The Line out can also be used as a send to a mixing desk for sound reinforcement.
6 EXTENSION SPEAKER SOCKET: (TT50 Combo Only) Use to connect an 8ohm extension cabinet. When an extension cabinet is
connected you should slide the switch to the on position. Not doing so will result in mismatched impedance and will reduce the
amplifiers performance and in some cases may cause damage to your amplifier. Remember to switch back when not using an
extension cab.
7 RECORD OUT: Use to conect to your chosen recording device. This socket will emulate the sound of the tube output stage so you don’t
lose that fantastic sound. Used in combination with the mute switch will enable silent recording.
8 EFFECTS RETURN: 1/4“ jack socket for connecting to the output of an external effects device output. Only use good quality shielded
cables.

Troubleshooting
Notes
In the unlikely event that you are experiencing problems, here are some of the most likely symptoms of valve malfunction and a suggested
method of correction.
Symptom 1 - Amp connections have been performed correctly but no channel switches are illuminated.
Solution 1 - Check time delay POWER FUSE and replace if necessary :TT50/TT50H = 230V - T2AL 250V
115V - 15L 250V
100V - T5AL 250V
TT100HTT100C = 230V - T3.15AL 250V
115V - T6.3AL 250V
100V - T6.3AL 250V
Symptom 2 - Channel switches illuminate, no sound out put. Amplifier set up correctly.
Solution 2 - Check secondary HT fuse. Replace if blown with: TT50/TT540H
= T500mAL 250V
TT100H/TT100C = T1A L 250V
Symptom 3 - Secondary HT fuseblows repeatedly. This is a strong indication of a damaged valve. The diagram below indicates valve type
and position.
Solution 3 - !CAUTION! Output Tubes get very hot, Turn power off and wait to cool before touching.
Turn on the power. View the output valves, They should glow red after the unit warms up. If one valve fails to light up, replace that valve. If
the output valves check out ok, another cause of a blown secondary fuse is a damaged pre-amplifier valve. Start with valve V1 and replace it,
follow the above procedure. If the symptom persists, consult a qualified engineer, do not fit higher rated fuses. Replace Secondary HT Fuse
when problem has been rectified.

Symptom 4 - Slow loss of power
Solution 4 - Check first for damaged output valves (glowing ,flashing or dead) by using the procedures described in symptom 3. Replace as
necessary.
All of these trouble shooting procedures can be performed quickly, without the aid of any sophisticated test gear. We suggest that you always
maintain spare valves for emergency purposes. Keep your Laney free of dirt, dust and moisture to prevent performance failure Never subject
your valve amp to environmental conditions that would not be comfortable for you!
TipsThe valves in your new valve amplifier will eventually need replacing due to wear, this is normal with valve amps. In most instances you
should be able to effect valve replacement yourself without incurring the costs of a service engineer. Spares are available from all good music
shops or directly from our service department. Normally valve amps give optimum performance when fitted with matched sets of output
valves as factory fitted to all Laney valve amps. NB: Damage will not occur by not fitting matched sets although the amplifiers performance
may be impaired
The following hints and tips are provided so that you can get the best performance out of your Laney valve amplifier. These are only
guidelines and should be adapted for your own preferences:1: Valve amplifiers take a short time to 'warm up' to optimum operating temperature. To get optimum performance out of your TT amplifier
allow the amplifier to 'warm up' for three mins. before you begin playing.
2: The position of an amplifier in a room has an effect upon the overall sound characteristics. If you wish to increase the bass response of
your amplifier place the amplifier on the floor. If you wish to reduce the bass response of your amplifier place the amplifier on a stand.
3: Do not place you amplifier hard up against a wall as this will reduce the air circulating around the back of the unit and may result in
overheating.
4: When using the 'BRIGHT SWITCH' on the amplifier keep in mind that it has a greater audible effect the lower the amount of distortion
produced by the preamplifier. At some distortion levels the 'BRIGHT SWITCH' may appear to have no effect at all.

TT Midi implementation
The advantage of midi in a guitar amplifier is that it allows your amplifier and external devices (like FX) to talk to each other. At last you can
press one button and select the amplifier channel, delay and reverb on multiple devices to get the sound you want. (No more ballet dancing
over FX pedals!)
The switches below generate, (and can be controlled) via midi Program change messages:Channel 1, Channel 2, Channel 3, Volume 1 / Volume 2
Reverb State can be recalled via midi but does not generate any midi information.
Imagine you can now assign a different effect to each Channel + Volume 1 and each Channel + Volume 2.
Some application notes to achieve this appear later.
The amplifier achieves these features by Storing amplifier switch states at the last received Midi Program Change

MIDI ADDRESS DIPSWITCHES: This selects the midi channel which the amplifier will send and receive on. Default setting of this are all
switches set to `0' ,this is called omni mode as it will respond to all midi channels. If you need to select a certain midi channel so that
your amplifier only sends and responds to messages on the selected channel it is done as follows. Each switch has a value (1,2,4,8)
simply add the switch values together to get the channel you require.
Eg.
Channel 7 = 4 + 2 + 1
Channel 13 = 8 + 4 + 1

FOOTSWITCH SOCKET: Use this socket to connect your FS6 footswitch only. No other device can be connected to this port. The FS6
allows the user to remotely switch between Channel 1,2,3,Reverb and Volume1/2 switches on the amplifier. You can control the switches
using the footswitch and the front panel switches.

STORE BUTTON: The integral Led flashes to indicate the amplifier is receiving midi data or has stored the amplifiers switch state . If you
press and hold down the Store button the state of the channel, Volume and Reverb will be stored at the last received Midi program
change. The next time the amplifier receives this Midi program change via the Midi In socket the amplifier will switch to the stored state.
Please note the Reverb can only be assigned via the FS6, there is no front panel control for switching reverb.

MIDI OUT: This where the TT amplifier generates its midi information. It is a 7 Pin DIN socket provided for connecting to the MIDI IN of an
external MIDI equipped device. *

MIDI THRU: MIDI THRU is a daisy chain buffered output of the MIDI IN signal and contains no MIDI information generated by the amplifier.
Normally connected to the midi in of the next midi device in the chain f required. It is a 7 Pin DIN socket supporting phantom power
devices. *

MIDI IN: The TT amplifier receives Midi information here from external MIDI devices such as foot controllers or MIDI sequencers allowing
the status of the amplifier to be switched via MIDI It is a 7 Pin DIN socket supporting phantom power from some high end guitar
processors and their controllers. *

In this configuration the TT amplifier is a slave device ,its setting being called up by the
midi controller. This midi controller could be a device which purely generates
midi information or a multi effects pedal board. To setup the amplifier You
Need to do the following:-
The next time your select that patch - the setting of the Channel/Volume/Reverb switches
will be recalled. Repeat steps 1 3 for each of your favourite patches
FS6 Footswitch
Midi Out
1. Select the required patch on your pedal board/midi controller
2. Select the Channel/Volume/Reverb switch setting on your TT amp.
3. Press and hold the Store button. (for about 2 second)

So for all your favourite sounds, your pedal board can assign a TT amp state.
Midi Controller
The TT amplifier will respond to 127 different program changes. Some FX processors have separate midi pedal board controllers which they
remotely phantom power. Your TT amplifier is compatible with this system as it passes phantom power from the Midi In socket to the Midi
Thru socket.
Combining Application note 1 and note 2
If you have quite a selection of midi effects toys you can combine the above applications. Useful recommendations in doing so are
1. Daisy chain the Midi out to Midi in from the midi controller to the TT amp, as shown in application 2.
2. Connect the next cable from the TT amps Midi Thru to the next devices Midi In repeat step 2. until you get to the end of you chain of toys.
