WestJet Announces Unprecedented
Increase in Air Service to YMM
The ‘Triple Crown’ of new destinations Las Vegas, Kelowna, and
Vancouver to launch in May and June
WestJet announced this morning new air services
to Fort McMurray including nonstop service to
two new destinations Las Vegas and Kelowna as
well as service to Vancouver.
This announcement marks a major investment
in Fort McMurray by WestJet. Details of the new
service announcement include:
Nonstop service to Las Vegas – Twice per
week service beginning June 24, 2014
Nonstop service to Kelowna – Daily service
beginning May 12, 2014
Nonstop service to Vancouver – Daily
service beginning May 12, 2014
“This is a significant endorsement by WestJet
of Canada’s fastest growing airport. Announcing
three new destinations at the same time is rare
at Canadian airports and speaks volumes as to
the commitment that WestJet is making to the
community and region,” said Airport President
& CEO Scott Clements. “This is a milestone
announcement for WestJet and YMM. Each
of these destinations provides travelers with
additional convenience and more options when
traveling within Canada or the US.

UPDATE
YMM has grown at a rate of 29% over the past
two years, breaking monthly passenger records
on a frequent basis. Welcoming nearly 1.2 million
passengers in 2013 has meant that Canada’s
sixteenth busiest airport is looking forward to moving
into new terminal. The new terminal building and
redevelopment project will provide much needed
capacity for the airport, vital to our partners’ growth

Welcome to the New YMM
After much consultation with the community and stakeholders in the Fort
McMurray International Airport (YMM) unveiled it’s new brand and logo.
The logo’s inspiration comes from many different elements that were
brought up during the market research.
We have titled the concept AURORA IN FLIGHT as the elements lend
themselves to the aurora borealis and the take-off of an airplane. The two
different logo applications will allow us to define our airport and our region
for both international and local audiences.
