2013 SUMMER USTA ADULT LEAGUES
The Central Indiana USTA Adult League matches begin in May
and end late July. All teams are based on ability level. The divisions are 18 & Over adult men and women (2.5-5.0+), 40 &
Over men and women (3.0-4.5+), 55 & Over as well as 65 &
Over men and women (6.0-9.0).
Anyone who turns the particular age or is older than the division number may participate in that league. (Ex: an individual
turning 40 in December may participate in both the 18 & Over
and 40 & Over leagues.)
CITA has not received official info for this year’s competition,
but historically the tournament has run as described below.
CRC will post information when it arrives.
Entry deadline is May 9.
Players in any division must have a computer rating or selfrating and be a USTA member.
Each division will play a full round robin. Each match will consist of one eight game pro-set with a match tiebreak played at 7all. Each district team will be awarded one point for each game
one by all of the doubles teams entered. The district scoring the
most points will be declared the winner. Additionally, doubles
teams scoring the most points within the age division will receive a division championship award.
Any player without a rating will be required to self-rate when
registering for a team. Players can play on one team in a division. However, they can play on one team in as many divisions
as they choose. Players must play at their NTRP rating or
above.

In February Dr. Tim Fletchall and wife Jill joined the Hamilton County Community Tennis Association/HCCTA board of
directors. They are serving with Christina Fugate (president),
Dan Dowing (vice president), Katie Downing Crain
(secretary), Lee Ann McKay (at-large), and Dr. Enoch “Nick”
Brown (at-large).
Tim is a family physician with Community Health Network.
He graduated from IU School of Medicine and has been practicing for 15 years. He started playing tennis when he was six
years old. In the four years he played tennis at North Central
High School the team won three state championships.
Jill graduated from Purdue University with a degree in elementary education. She taught fourth and fifth grade before starting
a family with her husband Tim. They have three children and
two beagles. Jill started a Project Sunshine chapter in Indiana
eight years ago. Her group volunteers at both Peyton Manning
and Riley North Hospitals every week.
Tim and Jill are both interested in expanding the HCCTA Hamilton County Special Olympics Tennis started last summer by
their daughter Molly.
HCCTA SPECIAL NEEDS TENNIS GRANT
The USTA Serves Foundation granted Hamilton County Community Tennis Association/HCCTA a $15,000 grant to develop
and expand its special needs summer tennis program held at
Carmel High School.
HCCTA is a 501 c 3 nonprofit started in 1990. It’s mission is to
“enrich communities in fitness, education, community service,
and diversity.” It’s focus is on 10 and under players with play
on school and neighborhood courts in Carmel, Fishers, and
Westfield. The HCCTA Special Olympics of Hamilton County
is the only special needs tennis program registered with the
USTA in Indiana.
The grant will help with T-shirts, bottled water, player party,
equipment, banners and educational materials.
The grant will also allow HCCTA to produce the second series
of its Champion Citizen books. The first series featured athletes
who over came challenges, became champions and then devoted their lives to helping others: Arthur Ashe, James Blake,
Billie Jean King, Gale Sayers, and George Taliaferro.
The second series will feature special needs athletes. Like the
first series, the second series will also be written by local high
school tennis players. The selected athletes are still being researched, but the books should be ready for publication by the
end of 2014.
