1. Project Overview
Astaldi Construction Corporation is the Contractor for the FDOT T1598 project, situated in
Charlotte & Desoto/Sarasota County, Florida. The improvements under this contract consist of
adding lanes and reconstruction, including bridge rehabilitation, milling and resurfacing,
widening, base work, shoulder treatment, drainage improvements, curb and gutters, sidewalks,
signing and pavement marking, signalization, intelligent transportation system components and
lighting on State Road 93 (I-75) from south of Harborview Road northeasterly approximately
15.581 miles, to Sumter Boulevard in Charlotte and Sarasota Counties.
EHC Construction Inc. is the earthwork subcontractor for Astaldi that will perform the excavation
and the dewatering activities hereby described.
1. Description of the dewatering activities
We are planning on starting on the Ponds 1 & 2 in Charlotte County and the Ponds 5 & 4-04 at
Sumter Blvd simultaneously as soon as the clearing will allow. Excavation activities will
approximately start in mid-January. We then plan on moving to the Toledo Blade ponds after the
Sumter ponds are complete. We should be complete with the Charlotte ponds in about 4-5 weeks,
the Sumter Ponds in about 3-4 weeks, and the Toledo Blade Ponds in 10-12 weeks.
All the dewatering activities will be performed as per specific plans included in the following
annexes:
1. POND #1;
2. POND #2;
3. NW Pond Sumter BLVD
4. SW Pond Sumter BLVD
5. NE & NW Ponds Toledo Blade
6. SE & SW Ponds Toledo Blade
Our Construction Plan and dewatering activities are as follows.
1.1. Charlotte Pond 1 & Pond 2
We plan to start construction with installing a conveyance swale from Pond #1 to Pond #2 and
excavate Pond #1 and Pond #2 down to the water table and install a perimeter berm around pond
#2. After construction of conveyance swale and containment berm, we intend to install specified
pump system and pump in Pond #1 with dewatering discharging into the conveyance swale
flowing to Pond #2 containment area. We plan to continue pumping while completing the

construction of Pond #1. Then we intend to install a pumping system in Pond #2 and discharge
dewatering into the conveyance swale flowing to Pond #1 containment area. We plan continue
pumping while completing construction of Pond #2.
1.2. Sumter Blvd Pond 5 & Pond 4-04
We anticipate to first install a containment berm around Pond #4-04. We plan to install specified
pump system and pump in Pond #5 with dewatering discharging through piping to Pond #4-04
containment area. We would continue pumping while completing the construction of Pond
#5. Then we expect to install pumping system in Pond #4-04 and discharge dewatering into Pond
#5 containment area. We plan to continue pumping while completing construction of Pond #4-04.
1.3. Toledo Blade Pond 2-01 & Pond 1-02
We anticipate to first install a containment berm around Pond #2-01. We plan to install specified
pump system and pump in Pond #1-02 with dewatering discharging through piping to Pond #2-01
containment area. We would continue pumping while completing the construction of Pond #102. Then we expect to install pumping system in Pond #2-01 and discharge dewatering into Pond
#1-02 containment area. We plan to continue pumping while completing construction of Pond #201.
1.4. Toledo Blade Pond 2-02 & Pond 2-03
We anticipate to first install a containment berm around Pond #2-02. We plan to install specified
pump system and pump in Pond #2-03 with dewatering discharging through piping to Pond #2-02
containment area. We would continue pumping while completing the construction of Pond #203. Then we expect to install pumping system in Pond #2-02 and discharge dewatering into Pond
#2-03 containment area. We plan to continue pumping while completing construction of Pond #202.
