2016 Southern Consultants Meeting Technical Bulletin DuPont™ FeXapan™ Herbicide for Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans -‐-‐ DuPont Herbicides for BOLT™ Technology Soybeans Dave Johnson, Product Development Manager Soybean Herbicides and Traits February 25, 2016 DuPont™ Fexapan™ is not registered for use on Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans. No sale, offer for sale or use of DuPont™ Fexapan™ on Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans is permitted prior to the issuance of all required EPA and state approvals. Topics DuPont™ FeXapan™ herbicide • • • • Why dicamba? Regulatory status Use in weed control programs Stewardship BOLT™ technology • More options for weed control • Zero-‐day plantback to DuPont™ LeadOff® herbicide • Rotational flexibility after DuPont™ Finesse® cereal and fallow herbicide Why dicamba? Benefits of glyphosate + dicamba weed control program in soybeans: • Very broad spectrum control of grass and broadleaf weeds, including glyphosate-‐resistant weeds • Less spray volume and wider window of application compared to a LibertyLink® system • Systemic activity within the plant – kills roots and foliage • Use in a weed control program that includes multiple modes of action and overlapping residuals Technology regulatory status Trait: • Full deregulation for stack in US and Canada for planting • Approvals achieved in several importing countries − China approval for RR2Y+Xtend™ stack in early February • Still awaiting import approvals for stack in EU − Expected by end of 1st quarter Dicamba herbicides: • There is NO dicamba labelled for in-‐crop use − 28-‐day and 1-‐in rain requirement before planting still in effect • EPA comment period yet to open • Labels for 2016? BOLT™ technology benefits • More ways to control problem weeds • Zero-‐day plant-‐back after key DuPont burndown herbicides such as DuPont™ LeadOff® and other herbicides • Planting flexibility following DuPont™ Finesse® Cereal and Fallow herbicide use in wheat • Flexibility to change crops after certain DuPont burndown herbicide use in response to changing market conditions • Available exclusively in DuPont Pioneer genetics Zero-‐day plant-‐back after DuPont™ LeadOff® herbicide • BOLT™ technology is the only herbicide-‐tolerant trait that enables farmers to use LeadOff® with zero-‐ day plant-‐back to soybeans following application • LeadOff®: – Blend of rimsulfuron + thifensulfuron (1:1 ratio) – Rate/timing: 1.5 to 2.7 oz/a preplant up to 0 days before planting in BOLT™ technology soybean. – Also preplant and preemergence in corn, preplant in cotton BOLT™ technology enables: Plant-‐back flexibility with DuPont™ LeadOff® herbicide for Pioneer® brand soybeans with BOLT™ technology Soybean recrop intervals on product label Soybean trait with BOLT™ technology LeadOff® 0 days with STS® technology without BOLT™ or STS® technology 30 days 30 days-‐10 months1 1 Depends o n factors such a s rate, l ocation, soil p H, rainfall, temperatures, tillage, and relative variety sensitivity to rimsulfuron.
