AC For in-depth itineraries and additional travel options, visit our website at www.avantidestinations.com I 109 Brazil Manaus - Gateway To The Amazon Planning tips for the Amazon: Climate: The Amazon Basin lies close to the equator and there is not a lot of difference between winter and summer. High humidity is common in the deep jungle but is more mild in the cities and on the river. The average temperature is 80°F. Nights are cool. Rainy season is Dec.-Jun. (high water) and dry season is Jul.-Nov. (low water). Travel in both seasons is good with different types of wildlife visible at each time. Luggage: We recommend durable luggage, especially if you're going to one of the jungle lodges as some of these can be remote. A duffel bag is most suitable but other options may be better based on your pre- and post-travel plans. We suggest packing light if possible. What to Bring: We highly recommend wearing subdued colors in the jungle as bright colors may scare wildlife. Bring long sleeves and long pants to protect yourself from the sun and insects. Bring a day pack, a wide brimmed hat, comfortable shoes or boots, a lightweight raincoat, insect repellent, a small flashlight, and a sense of adventure! Immunizations: Yellow Fever immunization may be required for travel to the Amazon region.
