welcome! This electronic sponsor package is designed to assist you in navigating available Idahospecific resources that may be useful to you throughout your relocation process. As the Airman &
Family Readiness Center Relocation Consultant, I have compiled the most commonly used and up to
date links and resources available in an electronic format in hopes to minimize the clutter of paperwork and packages that is so prevalent when relocating. Having relocated to Idaho recently myself, I
understand the concerns you have pertaining to creating a smooth and hassle free relocation experience. Although it is quite normal to experience stress during this time I would like to encourage you
to utilize the services that are available to you through the Airman & Family Readiness Center and
the base. Every Installation has a Relocation Consultant available at the A&FRC to assist you with
your questions. Here are some key points to get your wheels rolling, so to speak:
Request a Sponsor: Your sponsor will be key in helping you to get acquainted with the base, assisting you with in-processing, and also with your housing needs. If you do not have a sponsor already
call your gaining unit or the A&FRC to request one.
In-Processing: Base in-processing schedules newcomers for mandatory briefings ranging from
Right Start to First Term Airman Center orientations. All briefings must be scheduled within 5 days
of arriving at MHAFB. Military members must be in uniform for in-processing. Please bring with
you the following items to keep things running smoothly:


Housing Information
You have three basic options when considering housing while stationed at Mountain
Home Air Force Base. You may of course choose to live on base, or you may live in
the town of Mountain Home. On average, Mountain Home is about a 15-20 minute
drive from the base. Many people and families choose to live in Boise as well which is
a 35-50 minute drive from the base. If you choose this option, you may want to consider using the vanpool for your commute, as part of the cost for this service is reimbursed to you by the Wing. You can go online the VanPool website for information.
