Vote In The Preliminary Election on Tuesday September 8th
Vote For District 4 City Councillor: MAHA asked the candidates for District 4 City Councillor candidates two questions.
The Community Preservation Act (CPA) helps communities create affordable housing, improve parks and playgrounds, and preserve
historic sites and buildings. 158 communities have adopted CPA, but not Boston. A broad coalition of Boston nonprofits is working to
put CPA on the Boston ballot next year (2016). If adopted a small property tax increase ($23.08/year for an average single family) would
qualify Boston for state funds and provide approximately $18 million per year to be used for affordable housing, capital investments
in parks and athletic fields, and historic preservation. This is the single biggest source of additional dedicated revenue for affordable
housing that could be available to Boston in the near future. We asked City Council candidates if they support the Community
Preservation Act for Boston. Here are their answers:

Councilor Jackson would vote in favor of the City Council placing the Community Preservation Act on the ballot in November 2016.
Councilor Jackson has a strong record of advocating for affordable housing and community stabilization. Over the past year,
Councilor hosted a series of hearings on housing displacement in the city of Boston. As a result, Councilor in partnership with leading
housing advocacy organizations negotiated an MOU with a large corporate landlord to prevent future displacement of local residents.
Councilor Jackson is committed to ensuring that all families have the opportunity to live and thrive in the city of Boston.
2. Would you publicly endorse a “yes” vote on CPA, and actively work for its passage that year?
Councilor Jackson would publicly endorse a "yes" vote on CPA and actively work on passage. Councilor Jackson would partner with
MAHA and like organizations on the passage of the CPA ballot question.

My answers to question 1 and 2 are Yes. I it is not rocket science to do and support what is good and right for the poor, undeserved
and the working class . I like MAHA have been been fighting for the rights of our people. As a former Boston Police Officer who took
an oath to serve and protect. And as City Councilor for District 7 I will continue to bring my passion and love to City Hall. Also I will
present the facts to the Mayor and all councilors, once the facts are presented they will have to do what is right, if they are for the
people.
