Stone Age Time Periods
Your tribe of hunter-gathers has lived in this place for as long as anyone can remember. But now there are not enough animals to hunt. Whenever you find berries and roots, you have to share them with people from other tribes. Your leaders think it’s time to find a new home in the lands far beyond the mountains. But no one has ever traveled there, and many people are afraid. How do you feel about moving to a new home? Stone Age http://www.yourfrenchconnexion.com/images/2006-cro-m-painting-lascauxsm.jpg The Stone Age The Stone Age is divided into three time periods: Paleolithic (~2,000,000BCE – ~10,000BCE) Mesolithic (~10,000BCE - ~6,000BCE) Neolithic (~6,000BCE - ~3,000BCE) The dates are different in different regions of the world Example: Asia might be in the Mesolithic while North America might still be in the Paleolithic Paleolithic Paleo - Ancient (Old) Lithic - Stone During the Paleolithic Stone Age, early humans developed: Stone tools/weapons Language Early humans also migrated around the world during this time period History Textbook History Textbook Mesolithic Mesolithic - “Middle” “Stone” Use of bow and arrow, fishhooks, spears Tamed dogs Neolithic Neolithic - “New” “Stone” Agricultural Revolution – Huntergatherers settle down and begin farming The beginnings of houses and permanent dwellings Early Domestication When did it come from?
