The Alexandria Commission for the Arts is a City Council appointed 16-member commission
responsible for allocating public funds to support the arts, and advising Council on arts related policies.

The Art League, Inc. located at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria, is a multifaceted,
nonprofit visual arts organization that seeks to stimulate and encourage artists by operating a gallery
with monthly-juried exhibition opportunities for members. The Art League operates a school with
over 2000 students per term and an art supply store for students and members.

The Del Ray Artisans is a non-profit, membership, art organization featuring monthly visual and
functional arts exhibits, artist receptions, special arts events, and arts education programs at their

The Torpedo Factory Artists Association is one of the largest visual art organizations in the US. This
creative alliance began in 1974 by a group of local artists and the city of Alexandria. It houses more than 165
visual artists who produce artwork in a wide variety of media.
