Clint grew up on his family’s Hereford and Angus ranch near Sun City, Kansas. Clint attended Colby Community College and a member of the National Champion Livestock Judging Team. In l985, Clint and his family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to manage the purebred cattle unit at Colorado State University. In 1987, he also accepted the duty of coaching CSU’s livestock judging team. Clint completed his M.S. degree in 1992 and his Ph.D. in reproductive physiology in 1997. Clint has been judging cattle, sheep and swine at county, state and national shows for the past thirtythree years. He has judged point shows for numerous breeds and has been invited to judge prestigious show across the United States including: the American Royal, the Arizona National, the Fort Worth Stock Show, the Houston Livestock Show, the National Western Stock Show, the North American Livestock Show, and the World Beef Expo. Clint has also judged cattle or sheep at half of the contiguous states and in Canada. Gant Mourer has recently joined the beef extension group at Oklahoma State University this past fall. A native of Carrier, Ok, Gant graduated with a BS degree in 2005 and completed his MS in 2012. While completing his MS degree Gant was a herdsman for the Range Cow Research Center, North Range Unit at OSU. Currently, Gant is the Beef Value Enhancement Specialist and specializes in adding value to Oklahoma’s cow herd. He is also the coordinator of the Oklahoma Quality Beef Network and OQBN Vac-45 Sales. Dr. Chris Richards is an Associate Professor of Animal Science at Oklahoma State University. He has an A.S. from North Eastern Jr. College in Sterling, CO, B.S. from Texas A&M University, M.S. from the University of Nebraska, and Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. His current position is as State Extension Beef Cattle Specialist based on campus in Stillwater Oklahoma with primary responsibilities in stocker and feedlot cattle nutrition and management. His extension and research program emphasis is on nutrition, management, and electronic remote monitoring of stocker and finishing calves to improve cattle health, well-being, production efficiency, and beef quality. He is also the developer/coordinator of www.BeefExtension.com which is Oklahoma State University’s integrated beef information resource. Dr. Sara Place is an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Beef Cattle Systems in the Department of Animal Science at Oklahoma State since February 2013. Her research program focuses on the intersection of management and production practices that optimize animal well-being, nutrient-use efficiency, and the business sustainability of agricultural operations. Prior to Oklahoma State, she worked with the Innovation Center for US Dairy and Winrock International as a Livestock Production Consultant. She received her Ph.D. in June 2012 from University of California, Davis in Animal Biology where her work focused on measurement and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from cattle. She earned a B.S. in Animal Science from Cornell University in 2008 and an A.A.S. degree in Agriculture Business from Morrisville State College in 2006. Place is originally from Upstate New York where she grew up on her family’s dairy farm. Dr. Dan Stein was raised on a family ranching operation in Cherokee, Oklahoma and graduated with a B.S. degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1978. He then joined the Stein Angus Farm family partnership and for three decades bred and marketed registered Angus cattle. In the spring of 2002, due to health reasons, Dan’s father and uncle retired and the Angus herd was dispersed. Dan began his graduate program in Animal Science at OSU in the fall of that year. Dan completed his M.S. degree in Reproductive Physiology in 2004 and went on to complete his Ph.D. at OSU in Animal Breeding and Reproduction in 2009. Dan accepted his current position in the OSU Animal Science Department in the fall of 2009 with a split teaching and extension appointment. He is currently teaching courses in Animal Reproduction and Introduction to Animal Science with his Extension emphasis in the area of Reproduction. Dan co-advises the OSU Collegiate Cattleman Association and the Animal Science Undergraduate Research Scholars Program. Dr. Clinton R. Krehbiel is Professor and Dennis and Marta White Endowed Chair in Ruminant Nutrition and Health at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Krehbiel holds an A.A.S. degree from Hutchison Community College (1986), B.S. (1988) and M.S. (1990) degrees from Kansas State University, and a Ph.D. degree (1994) from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Krehbiel was a postdoctoral fellow at the Roman L. Hruska U. S. Meat Animal Research Center, Clay Center, NE. He spent 3.5 years on the faculty at New Mexico State University before joining the faculty in the Department of Animal Science at Oklahoma State University in January 2000. Dr. Krehbiel holds a split appointment between teaching and research. His research interests include understanding relationships involving ruminal fermentation, gastrointestinal tract metabolism, and net nutrient flux to improve animal health, growth, feed efficiency and end-product quality of beef cattle. Dr. Deb VanOverbeke is an Associate Professor of Meat Science in the Department of Animal Science at Oklahoma State University. She received her B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska and her M.S. and Ph.D. Degrees from Colorado State University. Prior to her graduate work she worked for the Nebraska Cattleman in producer education and outreach. Following her graduate work she worked as an Assistant Professor as the Meat Scientist in The Center for Animal Health and Food Safety at the University of Minnesota. While in Nebraska, Colorado and Minnesota she was active in the development and delivery of each state’s Beef Quality assurance program. She joined the faculty at OSU in 2005 and in her appointment has been active in teaching numerous courses and conducting research in the area of beef quality. Deb has been involved as a principle investigator in the 2000, 2005, and 2011 National Beef Quality Audits. She has also been active in assisting with the Oklahoma Beef Quality Assurance programs and the Beef Quality Summit. Deb and her husband, Kirk, currently reside in Stillwater with their two children, Esther and Joshua. He has litigated a wide variety of cases involving business disputes, anti-trust violations, intellectual property rights, oil and gas law, real estate matters, and issues affecting the healthcare industry.
