AISG welcomes you to this year’s APAC Girls Soccer Tournament.
Competition is synonymous with winning and losing, with records
and trophies and with determining the best team based on victories.
However, this focus overlooks a very important element: persistence. This is the ability to play hard, to play as a team (we not me) and to ‘gut it out’ in
the face of adversity. Persistence is why less skilled individuals or teams defeat more
skilled players or teams. More than wins or losses, persistence aligns with life’s successes.
If, when this tournament concludes, you can say you fought to the end, consistently
tried your best and never gave up, then regardless of the outcome you are a winner.

Welcome to Guangzhou!
The High School faculty, students and administration are excited to
have the athletes and coaches from our APAC partner schools join
us for the 2016 APAC Girls Soccer Tournament.
Soccer is a game that requires not only a high level of precision and
skill, but also a heightened mental awareness that promotes an intense perseverance,
while maintaining a calm, focused demeanor. The capacity to manage these somewhat
conflicting emotions is a skill that will serve you well on and off the field, across all real
world endeavors. I encourage you to embrace the spirit of tennis as a mantra in life, not
just in sport.
This APAC event is an opportunity for participating athletes to practice and improve
their endurance and skill, while also demonstrating their capacity as leaders and as
ambassadors, ensuring behavior on and off the court. For me, as a member of our
international APAC community, the most celebratory outcomes of this tournament will
be the relationships you build within and across teams as you show us your best as an
athlete.

2016 APAC GIRLS SOCCER
General Information
Housing Athletes: All visiting athletes will be hosted by a family from the
AISG community. Athletes will be provided with the name, address and phone
number of their homestay and must carry this with them at all times.
Athletes, it is a privilege to be afforded the hospitaility of your homestay family.
Please ensure you are respectful of your homestay family at all times.
Curfew: Coaches will make curfew calls to athletes every night at 22:00 un-
less otherwise notified. Athletes are to be at the host families’ home well ahead of
time to receive the curfew call. No excuses!
Transport: All transport to and from AISG will be provided by AISG.
Food and Water: The tap water is not safe to drink and only water from the
dispensers is to be used as drinking water.
All ahtletes will be able to purchase lunch each day according to the schedule.
The meals will cater for both Western and Asian tastes. Fruit and snacks will be
provided free of charge throughout the event.
Campus Security: Tournament participants are not permitted to leave
the AISG campus during school hours unless cleared by their respective coach
whom in turn has cleared it with Mark Elliott, the AISG Activities Director.
Brief Welcome: There will be a brief welcome with all the players and
coaches in the gym at 8.00 am to go through some house keeping and the format
of the tournament. The Ceremony will be no longer than twenty minutes.
School Pictures: School pictures will be taken on the first day of the
tournament at a specified location outdoor. The whole process will take no longer
than five minutes for each team.
The order will be as follows; CA, CISS, HKIS, SFS, SASPX and AISG.

APAC Code
The APAC program has established a code of conduct for students participating in
APAC activities. The purpose of this code is to encourage studetns to engage in
healthy and responsible behaviors that enhance performance. Activities which are
hazardous to the health and safety of a student and those around him or her cannot
be condoned. Policies have been developed to help students make responsible and
appropriate choices.
The following are some of the general policies.
Rules Infraction:
When a student commits an infraction while at an APAC activity relating to alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, cheating, deceit, flagrant curfew violations, and violations of the “off
limits” areas, as well as aiding and abetting any of the above, the following shall apply:

The student will be sent home at the parents’ expense if it is feasible to do so.
The student’s school will appy appropriate disciplinary action.
Should a student commit two infractions during a school year, then the
student will be excluded from all APAC events including the same event the
following year for one calendar year.
5. If at any time a student is suspended from further involvement in an event,
then the only results affected will be those happening after a decision is made
on the infraction.
