Six Anchor Technique STEP 1 DermaClose® Shoelace Technique Guide V 1 2 4 3 M 2 STEP 3 1 2 3 W 6 4 6 Using both hands, grasp the tension line near the front of the tension controller and with the first movement form the letter V by going around the tabs of anchors #1 and #3. 1 STEP 2 1 4 With the next movement form the letter M by guiding the tension line around tabs #4 and #6. 3 DermaClose® Shoelace Technique Guide 2 3 6 Holding the tension line with one hand, guide line over anchor tab #2 opposite the tension controller, completing the letter W. Gently pull back on the tension controller to remove any slack in the line. Turn blue control knob clockwise until audible clicking is heard (approx. 22 half rotations). 1. Supra fascial undermining of the wound margins approximately half the width of the wound is recommended. 6 4 2. Close distal and proximal ends of the wound as clinically indicated prior to positioning skin anchors. 3. Position tips of skin anchors approximately 0.5 to 1cm from wound edge and 2-3cm apart. It may be helpful to press the blue knob in and out. OR Seat tension controller tube under tab of home anchor (#8); loop line under anchor tabs #2 and #4. STEP 4 Loop line under anchor tabs #6 and #10. KEY STEPS STEP 5 Loop line under anchor tabs #1and #5. STEP 6 Turn the blue knob counter-clockwise while pressing down on the knob. DR-0084_H To take up slack, pull tension controller while allowing line to loop under anchor tab #3. To take up remaining slack, turn tension controller knob clockwise and seat into home anchor #8. CAUTION: Be sure that a loop or eyelet is NOT created in the tension line. ®
