MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL ... ... ...
It’s with deep sense of pride that I write this message
on the occasion of the Annual Inter House Sports Meet
2015 of Maris Stella College, Thimbirigaskatuwa.
Sports activities and interests provide many positive
opportunities for children. Good sportsmanship provides
guidelines that can be generalized to classroom and
lifelong achievement. Participation in challenging sports
contests teaches children to love classroom challenge. It
also teaches children to function in a competitive society.
The world of sports mirrors how one can play the game of school and life.
Good athletes stay in the game and play their best even when they are losing.
They know they will win some and lose some. They discipline themselves.
They practice with grueling regularity the necessary skills for their sport.
Education, life accomplishments, creative contribution in the arts, sciences,
business, and government involve similar perseverance and self-discipline.
I take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to Mr. Anton Niroshan
Fernando – the Prefect of Games’ Thimbirigaskatuwa and his Core Group,
House Masters & Mistresses, members of academic and non-academic
staffs, House captains and all the students for their dedicated cooperation

THE PREFECT OF GAMES’ MARIS STELLA COLLEGE,
THIMBIRIGASKATUWA
It gives me much joy and pride to send this message
across this souvenir which is to be simultaneously
launched with the commencement of the Annual Sports
Meet scheduled to be held on the 21st of February 2015.
Games and sports keep one physically and mentally fit.
They keep one away from diseases relating to heart,
obesity, mental stress and sleeplessness. They instill
in the player a spirit of self confidence, self-reliance,
discipline, justice fair play and patriotism. Games provide us with recreation
and enjoyment. So in order to give all virtues and to provide a healthy life to
the students, Maris Stella College has provided all proper training facilities.
We believe that each student must give equal prominence to sports and
academic studies. So that each child will be able to recognize their hidden
and inborn talents and those talents will be appreciated.
I offer my sincere thanks to all my colleagues, and the students for their
noteworthy discipline, devotion and dedication towards success of this
significant event. I express my gratitude to the Principal of Maris Stella
