Choir concert and Messa della Pace (Mass of

emotions felt throughout our stay in this
extraordinary town and region.
Jazz on the Mountain at Mohonk,
New Paltz, NY, January 17–20, 2014
Great music, culture, stunning scenery and
delectable cuisine are the key ingredients that
make this the perfect way to spend the New
Year’s holiday. The magnificent adventure
includes a stay in a Four-Star hotel, guided
tours, a New Year’s Eve celebration, a gospel
concert and of course, the Umbria Jazz
Festival.
Daily excursions will take you to Umbrian
Medieval hamlets of Montefalco, also famous
for its Sagrantino wine. Todi and Bevagna will
reveal their charms and well deserved ranking amongst some of the most beautiful “borgos” in Italy, their streets, still faithfully
reveal glimpses of a culture that revered
beauty and art.
Southern Tuscany will be well represented
during an excursion to Pitigliano first mentioned as far back as 1061. This quaint town is
also known as the little Jerusalem as throughout the centuries, was and still is the home of
a well-established Jewish community.
The Umbria Jazz Winter Festival will feature
some of the most recognized artists of the
jazz world. Our daily activities will be carefully planned so as not to interfere with the
scheduled concerts. On New Year’s Eve, we
will be celebrating in grand style at the San
Francesco, the swankiest party in town, as
we’ll swing the night away to the sound of
cool jazz and blues!
The culmination of the festival and a venerwww.wbgo.org
For the fourth consecutive year, WBGO invites
you to experience a celebration of jazz at the
magical and historical Mohonk Mountain
House resort located in New Paltz, NY, in the
picturesque Catskills. WBGO announcer
Michael Bourne will celebrate his 15th year
creating a stellar program with a line-up of
jazz greats including Anat Cohen, Fred Hersch,
Julian Lage, Joe Locke, Scott Robinson, Matt
Wilson, Martin Wind and more. You will be welcomed to the mountain top on Friday with a
warm cocktail reception and enjoy a private
dinner on Saturday night with Michael Bourne
and the musicians for a lively and fun dinner.
If you can find a few minutes in between the
eight concerts, the bountiful meals, the stunning views—take a dip in the swimming pool,
go snowshoeing or ice skating. New this

challenging fun for all ages.

WBGO’s Spring Kids

Entertained More Kids
Than Ever Before!

BGO’s Kids Jazz Concert

anniversary season this past
April. It was the most successful yet
thanks in large part to the new

arts, education, and healthcare. The Varis

students to WBGO’s free concerts. This
opportunity grew audiences at each of the
five free concerts, and further spread
WBGO’s mission among families and
youth organizations in New Jersey.
Audiences at multiple concerts this season pushed the limits of theater seating
capacity providing a packed house full of
energy for the performers; somehow
Bobby Sanabria (April 6) and Ascención
still found room for families to dance in
the aisles to classical Latin jazz beats.
Lauren Hooker (April 13) and her band
continued the party with dancing and
audience sing-a-longs through the history
of jazz during WBGO’s first Kids Jazz
Concert at Luna Stage’s new West
Orange location. Mimi Jones (April 20)
and her all female band turned kids into
stars when they invited young audience
members to improvise their own blues
song on the microphone at the Montclair
Art Museum. Lenny White (April 27)
gave students inspiration to delve deeper
