A Word From
Our President
Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers
Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers went into business in July 1931.
A lot has changed since then but the goal is still the same. Helping
area farmers to sell their product to suppliers across the United
States. Currently, there are 11 Ray-Carroll Grain Growers in Missouri. Pretty much, if you are on a farm and need a product, Ray
Carroll is the place to get it: Seed, feed, fertilizer, and just about
anything else you could want. They are a full service cooperative.
Ray-Carroll employs dozens of people and are always willing to help
the community in any way that they can. There staff is always
friendly and greet you with a smile on their face. I feel as a rural
community, it is very important to acknowledge the farmer’s support system and Ray Carroll is an intricate part of it. Please help me
to congratulate Ray-Carroll for 82 years in business. To commend
them for everything they do for our great city, and our rural community. Thank you Ray-Carroll and here’s to 82 more years of suc-

Christmas Extravaganza will be kicking off soon starting with
The Chamber Before Hours on November 15th @ 7:30am
At the Chamber Office!
The 2013 Christmas Extravaganza is getting underway. On November 5th, the Interact Club from
RHS will set up the Christmas Trees. The trees, wreaths, and baskets will be
available for pick up or decorating from November 6th to the 14th. November 15th will be the Chamber’s Before Hours at 7:30 am in the Chamber Office. The Board will be supplying a light breakfast for those who attend. This
will mark the beginning of the Christmas Tree Extravaganza. Tickets will be
available for purchase through December 5th. December 5th is when the
Christmas Celebration will be held starting at the City Hall with the Mayor’s
Christmas Tree lighting. The parade will form there and proceed to the
square. The Shrine Club will be raffling off a Kindle Fire and an IPad. The
Salvation Army will be holding their Kettle Kick Off as well. The Snow Princess and Snow Queen will be announced. There will be lots of live music,
refreshments available, and the Parade of Lights. Jerry McCarter will be the
Grand Marshall for the event. Several musical groups from local schools will
be in attendance also. Please mark your calendars and come celebrate the
lighting of Downtown Richmond with us. Hope to see you there!

The Holidays are here and thoughts turn to family, friends, good food and good cheer. So come join us for our kickoff for the
Christmas Extravaganza before hours on November 15th at 7:30am at the Chamber Office. Our chairman this year, Board Member Felicia Farabee, who always does a great job with the Christmas extravaganza, will have the beautiful trees, wreaths and baskets
on display and ready to buy a chance to take one home for Christmas. The chamber will be providing good food, friends and good
cheer. The public will be able to buy chances for the trees, wreaths and baskets starting on November 15 th during our Before
Hours, and every day with extended Chamber hours. Our beautiful lighted Christmas parade will be on December 5 TH. We are in
need of participants in the parade. If you are interested, please contact the Chamber office and they will put you in contact with our
chairman, Sherry Smith or myself for any questions. Let’s make this a wonderful parade for all. Everyone please participate and
enjoy the Mayors’ Christmas Tree Lighting starting at 5pm at the City Hall. Following will be our lighted Christmas Parade. You
can also visit with Santa, eat cookies and drink hot chocolate. We will be announcing the winners of the Christmas Trees, Wreaths
and Baskets that evening after the parade as well. Hope to see you all there. Let’s give this years’ Christmas Extravaganza a home
town feel with small town appeal. Invite family and friends to the parade and better yet, why not get your family and friends or coworkers together and enter in the parade. LET’S LIGHT UP RICHMOND!!!.
As we approach the end of the year, it seems like a good idea to look back over the year at the great events that Richmond has had.
Some will be very memorable. Whoever thought it would snow in May at our Mushroom Festival? The Ray County Fair Farmer’s
Appreciation Dinner hosted by KMZU and Henkel, was a great success. Outlaw Days was a fun event. The afterhours, quarterly
luncheons (highlighting our great business in Richmond), and the 45 th Chamber Annual Banquet was wonderful. So many things to
be thankful for like great times and memories, and remembering that home town feel.
Please know that we, The Chamber Board, appreciate the members and the contributions you bring. We are open to any new ideas
on how to improve the communication of the Chamber, member to member.
I would also like to let you know that if you have any business announcements you would like to share, let Natalie know so she can
put it in our monthly newsletter or The Chamber Connection. That email blast goes out on Fridays. She will need this information
by Wednesdays at noon. Maybe your business is offering a special promotion or is your business involved in a charitable event that
you would like to publicize. You may even have a short business article or tips that you would like to share. We would like to
know if you made a successful business connection with another Chamber member. Our goal is to keep the members informed
and connected. Your input is vital to us and we are very open to any suggestions. We would appreciate any business related article,
announcement, event, or business connection Space is limited, so please keep that in consideration. We can do inserts into the
newsletter each month. Your business just provides the copies, we do the rest.
Hope to see you all at the Christmas extravaganza. Let’s “ Make it Richmond” and keep “Business in Motion!!
Sincerely Christal Milligan
