WELCOME TO THE 36TH HEART OF OHIO TOLE CHAPTER
DECORATIVE PAINTING CONVENTION
“IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A PAINTBRUSH…!”
Dear Painting Friends, We have some exciting news for our convention attendees. This year the convention will be in the Hyatt Regency Hotel only. The convention center is in the middle of a remodel and renovation, so we are back in the Hyatt. The Exhibit Hall will be in Battelle Grand, where we have had our Exhibit Hall in the past. We have the Union meeting rooms, another four rooms on the same level in the County Hallway, and all the meeting rooms on the lobby level next to the food court. There are four elevators giving us access to the two levels containing the meeting rooms. Registration will be in the Franklin Foyer as usual. We will have plenty of signs to guide you. In response to the comments from last year’s guests, we have tweaked the schedule so that, hopefully, our guests will be able to take 2 classes per day. There will be 4 exciting Special Events taught by Willow Wolfe, Beth Wagner and Carol Spohn, Brenda Stewart, and Chris Haughey and Laurie Speltz. We encourage all of you to enter a project in the Art Show. This is an excellent way to showcase your talent and to let everyone know that you are a proud decorative artist. We look forward to seeing you at the 2016 HOOT convention. Happy Painting, Diane Eyestone 2016 Heart of Ohio Chapter Convention Chairman 1

MEMORY BOX PROGRAM
The Memory Box Program was begun in California in 1998 by decorative artists who realized that the many babies
were lost through miscarriages or early deaths. When the parents returned home, they had no baby and had only a
few precious keepsakes that were given to them by the nursing staff, usually in a paper or plastic bag. These artists
decided to paint papier mache boxes with appropriate designs to be donated to area hospitals to be given to
bereaved parents. Today, not only decorative artists in the United States take time to paint memory boxes, but also
decorative artists in Canada, England, Italy and Germany.
Heart of Ohio Tole Chapter has participated in the Memory Box Program as one of our philanthropic projects for over
15 years. HOOT provides boxes to the members throughout the year to be donated to one of the 14 area hospitals
we support and has donated over 7000 boxes since the program began. The January Chapter meeting is devoted to
painting these boxes with our members teaching the projects.
We invite our convention guests to assist us by painting a memory box or two or three if they have free time. The
Memory Box Table is open throughout the convention and is located on the Lobby level of the Hyatt.
