Wing production has begun in Marietta, which is home to the C-130J Super Hercules final assembly line. Other structural parts are in production at the Meridian and Clarksburg facilities. The LM-100J is the civil-certified version of Lockheed Martin’s proven C-130J Super Hercules and an updated version of the L-100 (or L-382) cargo aircraft. Lockheed Martin officials submitted a Program Notification Letter to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Jan. 21, 2014, for a type design update for the Lockheed Martin Model L-382J airplane, a civil-certified variant of the C130J Super Hercules to be marketed as the LM-100J. The LM-100J is expected to make its first flight in 2017, then enter into an FAA certification phase. Through select design innovations, the LM-100J will perform as a commercial multi-purpose air freighter capable of rapid and efficient cargo transport. The LM-100J is an ideal airlift solution for delivering bulk and oversize cargo, particularly to austere locations worldwide. Like its military counterpart, the LM-100J will be able to support multiple missions, ranging from firefighting, to medevac, to VIP transport. The LM-100J incorporates technological developments and improvements over the existing L-100s that result from years of C-130J operational experience, including more than 1.3 million flight hours by operators in 16 nations. The result of this experience and advancement translates to an aircraft that will deliver reliable service in a multi-role platform for decades to come. includes more than 125 aircraft operating in 26 countries, with total assets in excess of US$1.5bn. Changes in consolidation had a positive impact of 0.2 percentage points on first-half growth, while foreign exchange contributed a positive 8.6 points. Current Operating Income before IFRS 3 was €80.4m, down compared to the first half of 2014/2015. As for the fiscal year 2014/2015, this low Current Operating Income results from the difficulties encountered by the Aircraft Interiors activities, where excess costs remain high, estimated at around €110m versus budget in H1, and which are also impacted by programs in ramp-up phase with a lower profitability. Non-current operating items came to a negative €10.7m in the first half of 2014/2015 fiscal year compared to a negative €12.6 m the previous year. This was largely due to goodwill amortizations linked to IFRS 3 standard. Operating income is down -57.7% to €69.7m. (€1.00 = US$1.12 at time of publication.) Jeppesen, a part of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, has teamed with audio expert Bose Corporation to provide automatic audio warnings as part of its flight information solution for private pilots flying under visual flight rules – Mobile FliteDeck VFR. Audio warning functionality continues Jeppesen’s platform of data-driven, or realtime presentation of flight information for pilots. Pilots are able to connect their Bose A20 Aviation Headsets to the Mobile FliteDeck VFR app via Bluetooth and receive real-time critical airspace and waypoint audio warnings. Pilots flying in or near controlled airspace receive both visual and audio warnings ensuring airspace awareness. Unique sound and spoken word “airspace” warnings alert pilots to current airspace. If the pilot has defined route waypoints entered in Mobile FliteDeck VFR, similar audio and visual alerts are available to warn them in flight. Pilots also are able to choose which audio alerts they would like to receive, providing a personalized experience. The union of these leading technologies will allow Lufthansa Systems’ customer airlines to measure and enhance the effectiveness of their on-screen alerts which pre-empt costly disruptions. These include weather alerts, air traffic control issues and pending missed connections. SMI’s screen-based remote eye tracking will be used to determine when and if these alerts are seen. If there has been no gaze fixation by the operator within an ac- ceptable time frame, additional warnings will be generated in the form of a sound or a vibration on a wearable device. Longer term, the accumulated eye tracking data will help improve the effectiveness of next generation operations control systems.
