Last year thousands of families came downtown to enjoy the life-size bronze sculptures by J. Seward Johnson, and this year we have 20 new sculptures The Arts Fund to display in our center city from May 16 to August 15. This is an interactive exhibit, so touch, photograph and interact with Major Sponsor: the sculptures! WDTN-Channel 2 While you are enjoying the sculptures, be sure to check out some of the other things happening downtown this summer. There is something for all ages to enjoy, and many of the activities are free. About the Artist City Life ‘08 Sponsors: J. Seward Johnson, Jr. is considered by many to be one of the most popular, widely seen contemporary sculptors in the United States. Johnson turned his painting talents to the medium of sculpture in 1968. Since then more than 200 of his life-size cast bronze figures have been featured in private collections throughout the world and in public places such as Rockefeller Center in New York City. Strike A Pose, Pen Some Prose! There is a photo contest in conjunction with this exhibit, so remember to bring your camera along! There is also an essay contest, so put on your creative hats and think of a story to tell about one of the sculptures. Winners will be selected for both the photo and essay contest each month.
