CONCRETE RESURFACER
RESURFACER FOR AGED OR SPALLED CONCRETE
DESCRIPTION:
Cemix®Concrete Resurfacer is a high performance concrete resurfacing product for
aged or spoiled concrete. It serves to resurface good quality concrete with a thin

worn away. Its use serves to prevent the removal & replacement of good quality
concrete. It is applied with a steel squeegee, trowel or broom brush finished.

APPLICATION:
Dampen concrete substrate with a light spray
of water. Avoiding ponding, apply the first coat
immediately after mixing the product. Use a
suitable steel squeegee, trowel or brush to
force product into the surface. After the first
coat has completely dried, mix up a new batch
of Resurfacer. Dampen the surface with a light
spray of water and apply the second coat in
the same manner. A third coat may be applied
if required. If a broom finish is required, broom
the surface immediately after the final coat
of product has been applied. The total finish
thickness should be approximately 2mm - 3mm.
TYPICAL APPLICATION/USES:
• Resurfacing of aged concrete
• Resurfacing of surface spalled concrete
• Resurfacing of cracked concrete after undertaking crack repairs
• Residential driveways
• Patios
• Footpaths
• Shops, Restaurants & Cafes
• Hospitals
• Schools
• Overcoat ‘ugly’ concrete repairs
ADVANTAGES:
• Cost effective
• High bond strength
• Flexible
• Durable
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
Surfaces should be sound & rough to ensure a good bond. They should be
uncoated & clean, free from all contaminants, loose particles, dirt, oil, mould, curing
compounds, sealers & paints etc. Acid washing or honing & then water blasting is
required to prepare the surface depending on substrate condition. Washing with
soap & water blasting may also be required if oil is present. Holes, spalls, low spots,
uneven and deteriorated surfaces should be patched with a suitable Cemix repair
mortar and bonding agent. The better the substrate preparation & condition the
better the end result. The concrete substrate should ideally be at least three months
old.
CRACKS IN CONCRETE:
Cracks in the concrete substrate must be well repaired with suitable
products prior to product application. Seek technical advice if required.
MOVEMENT / CONTROL JOINTS:
Honour any control joints in the concrete substrate – do not apply product
over control joints. If required create control joints in substrate at suitable
locations.
