There will be a wide variety of instruments, voices and different
styles of music presented by volunteer pupils from gifted
11 year olds to Diploma Standard Advanced Level Students.
Alumni Concert

We are delighted that many of our former pupils have been able
to agree to return to School to share their performing skills with
us. Many of them have been involved in music at degree level
and those that have continued to participate in professional
and amateur performance will be presenting instrumental and
vocal items of the highest standard, whilst others will be joining
our own Alumni Choir and Orchestra as well as assisting our
present Senior Choir and Senior Orchestra. In addition to those
listed elsewhere in this brochure we also expect the presence of
many more, plus former teachers including Jane Rowland, Lillian
Croston and Anne Patefield. This will surely be a wonderful
evening of memories and inspiration.

Orchestral Concert

would like to be seated. All seats are priced the same and we
will make every effort to accommodate your choice but we do
reserve the right to give alternative places if your preferred place
has already been fi lled. Early booking is always advisable. Please
advise of any specific requirements e.g. hard of hearing, sight
issues or disabled access.

STAGE
Talented Sixth Formers will perform movements from concertos
and sing arias as the climax to their School musical careers.
Other orchestral pieces will feature and parents and friends of
the School are invited to join the Westholme Choral Society to
perform Mozart’s Requiem, with rehearsals on Wednesday April
13th (4pm-6pm), Friday April 22nd (7pm-9pm) and at 2pm on
the day of the Concert.

Our traditional end of term School Concert will feature the
Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Chamber Choir, Senior Orchestra,
Junior Orchestras, String Orchestra, Swing Band, Brass Band
and lots more besides!
Martin Roscoe Piano Recital
Wednesday 4th May 2016 - 7.30pm
Having had our largest audiences at Martin’s concerts in the
past and being amazed by his contribution to the Ribble Valley
International Piano Week held in the Theatre in July, we are
greatly looking forward to hearing him again. With more than
500 broadcasts and 7 Prom appearances to his name it is not
surprising that his CDs always receive great critical acclaim,
though he can still communicate with a young audience as
shown by his masterclasses at Westholme and his Professorship
at London’s Guildhall School of Music. This concert is presented
in association with the Ribble Valley International Piano Week
and tickets will be unreserved with doors opening at 7pm.
The Westholme Senior and Tour Choir will perform a concert
prelude at 7.15pm.
EAST GALLERY
Members of the School Choir had a wonderful time on its tour to
Copenhagen in 2011 performing in the St Alban’s Church and at
the Harbour Festival, so we are delighted that the Salvation Army
Brass Band from Copenhagen Temple is paying us a return visit.
The band’s history goes back to 1892, which means that it is not
only the oldest band in the Danish Salvation Army, but also the
first real brass band in Denmark. The band is based at the Temple
Corps at the edge of both Vesterbro and Frederiksberg – a true mix
of working class and more affluent area of the capital. The band has,
through the years, played in many concerts around Copenhagen
and other Danish towns. They have toured in a number of countries
in Europe, the USA and also participated in a lot of national radio
and TV programmes in Denmark. We are promised an evening
of exciting and uplifting music with the Senior School Choirs
providing a prelude to the concert from 7.15pm.
