the catalog now - Long Branch PTA
On Behalf of the Long Branch Elementary School PTA, Welcome to the Annual Auction for 2015 Our auction this year returns to the great conference room space at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in Ballston. Kabob Bazaar is providing a delicious selection of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern inspired food again and we have over 250 items for you to bid on. The auction rules can be found on the following page. This year we are hosting for the second time a pre‐event online auction. The items that do not sell in the online auction will still be found in the silent auction. We have five sections in the silent auction‐ with a new table devoted to Andrew’s Project. Be mindful of closing times for each section because we wouldn’t want you to arrive late to the event and miss winning your favorite items. We also hope that our new auction program will help facilitate a smoother checkout for everyone. Please realize that we have a lot of information to process over the course of the night and we truly do it as quickly as we can. This event cannot take place without the help of a lot of people. We owe thanks to all the parents, staff and teachers of Long Branch who brainstormed and made happen all the great items we have to offer you. Teachers and staff, the donation of your time with special activities is very much appreciated, especially considering how precious your time is. We give a special thanks to the room parents who went out of their way to include the students in many of the class donations. Behind the scenes, we had volunteers who helped us by hitting the pavement, engaging with local businesses, and calling on friends and contacts to provide us with some amazing donations. Thanks to all the donors, we have a big selection of items to choose from – many new and exciting. We also want to thank the volunteers who helped with last minute details, organizing the auction tables, manning the check‐in and checkout stations and preparing for everything to go smoothly. This year, I would like to thank our PTA president, Arshia Arvandi, for all her advice, help and brainstorming‐ always pushing to make this event better than ever. I also would like to thank the PTA treasurer, Laurie Hand, for taking on the job of getting the insurance and the credit card processing working. Thank you also to everyone in the Long Branch office, especially Mrs. Russo, but, also Mrs. Wooley and Mrs. Williams. I am very appreciative of the staff in the Long Branch office for their patience with me and their help. Thank you to Adam Rasmussen for heading up the IT team for the event, to Chris Lewicki for coordinating the classroom and teacher donations, and to Howie Bierman for agreeing to MC again this year. And finally I would like to thank my family for their understanding, patience and support. Please read through this catalog, mark your favorites, and bring it with you to the auction. Bid often, bid high and have fun! Stacy Snyder 2015 Chair 1 Auction Rules Registration As you enter the auction you will check in and receive a bid number. Please use only the number assigned to you for bidding on live and silent auction items. Couples may choose to be assigned only one number. Silent Auction The silent auction begins at 6:00pm. All sections are open for bidding at this time, with closing times staggered (see below). The minimum bid and minimum raise for each item are on the bid sheet located next to the item. Write your bid number next to the next available bid amount. You are welcome to also write your last name, but just the bid number is sufficient. The last (highest) valid bid entered prior to the section closing will be the winner. Section Closing Times Green – Dream/Fix/Shop will close at 7:30pm Yellow – Dine In/Dine Out will close at 8:00pm Red/Orange – Family Fun and Andrew’s Project will close at 8:30pm Blue – Teachers/Staff/Classrooms will close at 9:00 pm Live – Available for silent bid from at 6:00pm / taken live at 9:00pm and other noted times. Live Auction The live auction items will be starting out as silent items with bid sheets at 6:00pm. At 9:00pm our auctioneers will take the stage and commence live bidding, starting with the last (highest) silent bid indicated on the bid sheet. We use a simple method of hand raising or bid card raising to indicate participation. The winner of the live auction items will be determined by the auctioneers. Checkout Checkout is a tricky thing. We need to have all bids entered for all sections before checkout can begin. We will start checkout as soon as possible after the 9 pm table closing time with multiple stations open to make the line move quickly. Again, we have to process a lot of data during the course of the event so your patience with this final/critical stage is much appreciated. We promise we are working as fast as we can to get you home to relieve those babysitters! 2 Payment We gladly accept cash, checks and all credit cards All items must be paid for by the end of the evening before you leave. Please inquire at the checkout desk before you leave to see if you were the successful bidder on any items. Retrieving Items on Display Once you have paid, if you are the successful bidder for an item that is on display, you MUST retrieve that item and take it home with you the evening of the event. If you have walked to the event and end up with too much to carry, we’ll gladly call you a taxi! Follow‐Up on Donated Services If you win an item that requires coordination with the donating party, it is the responsibility of the winner to follow up with the donor using the information provided on the gift certificate the winner receives at checkout. Terms of Sale Writing a bid on a bid sheet in the Silent Auction and/or being acknowledged by the auctioneer in the Live Auction constitutes a legal contract to purchase that item at the price you stated/ acknowledged. All sales are final. There will be no exchange or refunds. The Long Branch PTA (LBPTA) has attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered and sold “as is” and “with all faults.” By the buyer’s purchase, the buyer waives any claim for liability against LBPTA or Long Branch Elementary School, its elected and appointed officials, members and employees, sponsors, volunteers connected with the auction, and/or the donor of the item. Neither the LBPTA nor the donor is responsible for any personal injury or damage that may result from the use of the property or services. Expiration of Offers/Services Unless otherwise noted, all donations of services/ events made by parents, teachers or staff will expire on March 15, 2015. Please redeem your winnings prior to that time. Commercial donations have their terms and expirations indicated per their instructions. STARTS SILENT, GOES LIVE 104. Andrew enjoyed sitting right behind the backstop, close to the action on the Aces side of the field. He chased foul balls with the other kids and built up a collection of those baseballs he didn't sell back to the team for $1. It was at an Aces game he met Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., patiently waiting for Cal to finish with other fans while standing in the rain, and Cal thanked Andrew personally for playing baseball. The Aces generously recognized him and showed their support last summer, when they held Andrew Alford Memorial Project Night at the ballpark and donated half the gate from that evening. The Alexandria Aces, a proud member of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League (www.calripkenleague.org) kick off our eighth season in 2015.
