LZ BURBINE BLURB “Stand Downs Are Only The Beginning” East Bay Stand Down 2014 Eagle Scout Veterans History Project Chris Behring and fellow scouts from Troop 805 are interviewing ESBD Veterans about their military experience. The Veteran History Project is in conjunction with the Library of Congress. The videotapes from this project will be stored at the Smithsonian. The Eagle Scouts participating in this project will learn organizational and leadership skills as they contact, research and facilitate the interviews, manage administrative and legal forms, initiate the project and write and execute the plan. Prior to the EBSD the entire project was written and mock interviews were conducted. Viet Nam Veteran Interview The Eagle Scout Project also includes fund raising to support EBSD. To date Chris Behring has presented EBSD $11,000 as the result of his efforts. The Color Detail from Travis Air force Base pictured above on the last evening of Stand Down. They did such an outstanding job that Doug Miller presented an award to the detail along with one for Travis. Judge Hyde came through with his famous hand rubbed brisket. It was very nice to a live professional bugle for colors Volunteer Susan Springer from Tri-Valley Animal Rescue. The volunteers' were here at the beginning of this years Stand Down to welcome participant's pets. They board the homeless veterans pet and groom them with baths, trims, medical exams and then give them any needed treatment or vaccinations. They also give updates with pictures and any information. Then Sunday they are here to reunite the veteran with their happy companions. East Bay Stand Down 2014 Hope you all made the best of your Stand Down. Remember that Stand Down is just the beginning.
