“Stand Downs Are Only The Beginning”
East Bay Stand Down 2014
Eagle Scout Veterans History Project
Chris Behring and fellow scouts from Troop 805 are interviewing ESBD Veterans about their military experience. The Veteran History Project is in conjunction with the Library of Congress. The videotapes from this project will be stored at the
Smithsonian.
The Eagle Scouts participating in this project will learn organizational and leadership skills as they contact, research and facilitate the interviews, manage administrative and legal forms,
initiate the project and write and execute the plan. Prior to the
EBSD the entire project was written and mock interviews were
conducted.
Viet Nam Veteran Interview
The Eagle Scout Project also includes fund raising to support
EBSD. To date Chris Behring has presented EBSD $11,000 as
the result of his efforts.

Volunteer Susan Springer from Tri-Valley
Animal Rescue. The volunteers' were here
at the beginning of this years Stand Down
to welcome participant's pets. They board
the homeless veterans pet and groom them
with baths, trims, medical exams and then
give them any needed treatment or vaccinations. They also give updates with pictures
and any information. Then Sunday they are
here to reunite the veteran with their happy
companions.
