Ostim Combined Cycle Gas Fired Power Plant Power Plant Establishment & Operation the Power Plant which was started to build by Ostim Investment in 2003 in Ostim Industrial Center and completed in 2004, Ostim produces required electrics for its companies and these companies use the electrics with a very competitive prices. Metal Processing & Spare Part Manufacturing A large kind of spare parts has been manufactured in Ostim Industrial Center by Ostim Investment. Telecommunication Establishment & Operation The Ostim Telecommunication Center, established in 2005 by Ostim Investment, is a joint venture project with Sabanci Telekom who is the second biggest group of Turkey. The system serves in these 3 areas zWith its fiber/optic network that reaches 5000 SME's in the Ostim Industrial Area, it provides all of its SME's a high speed broad band internet at low cost in a local network. zAll the Ostim Enterprises and around 3000 houses near the area are able to use our SOUND Network and IP phones at low cost. zIn our F/O Network we have added value services area where we are able to sell software products through a hiring system. SECTIONS of a SEED OIL PLANT Our corporation installs, runs and provides the operational management of seed oil plants. The process starts with the project evaluation stage and it proceeds until the final outcome including the stages of; unrefined oil production, refining, weighing, quality control, bottling processes and training of the working personel. 1.RAW MATERIAL RECEIVING At this unit, some samples of the sunflower seeds that arrived to the plant are collected and analysed in terms of moisture and lubricity values. The seeds which are approved are then sent to the warehouse. 12 OSTÝM INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT & BUSINESS INC. 2. STREAM BOILER Considering the capacity of the plant and the circumstances of the region; different types of Stream Boiler can be built which are run by coal, fuel oil, diesel oil, natural gas and electricity. 3. UNREFINED OIL UNIT Front Preparation includes the stages of depuration of lubricated seeds and all the other stages before the extraction of oil. At the pression stage, the lubricated seeds passing the front preparation stage are decomposed into oil and bagasse by extrusion. At the extraction stage, the remaining oil in the bagasse is derived by chemical methods. a) FRONT PREPARATION Dust Sieve: The lubricated seeds coming from the raw material storage are disassociated from any foreign matter by Dust Sieves. Crasher: Crasher is used for cracking the shells of lubricated seeds. Shell Sieve: Shell Sieve is used for separating the shells from lubricated seeds. Separating the shells from the seeds provides easiness during the extrusion of lubricated seeds at the pression stage, timeeffectiveness during the bleaching of the bagasse at the extraction unit and also results in higher protein value at the bagasse. Shell Prov: Shell Prov is used for separating the dust and grains from the shells allocated at the shell sieve. Roller: Roller is used for crushing the lubricated seeds. Crushing of the seeds provides easiness during the extraction of oil by exploding the oil saccules. 13 OSTÝM INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT & BUSINESS INC. b) PRESSION Ustulation Pan Ustulation Pan is the hot plate used for increasing the heat of the lubricated seeds to a certain degree for making the pression stage easier. Presser Oil is decomposed by the compression of the dried seeds by means of spirals. Oil and bagasse are poured from the presser through different ways. Dregs Sieve Dregs Sieve filters the dregs from oil and this smoothes the filtering process at the filter-presser. Filter-Presser Filter-Presser is used for decomposing the unwanted substances from the oil. Filtering process is conducted by means of the fabrics on the filter sheets. c) EXTRACTION UNIT (BATCH SYSTEM) Extraction Unit is the unit that the lubricated bagasse coming from the pression unit is decomposed from the oil. The oil in the bagasse is united by means of washing with a solvent. After the washing process, the solvent and the oil are decomposed and the oil remained in the bagasse is therefore extracted. 14 OSTÝM INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT & BUSINESS INC. Extractor Extractor provides the decomposition of the oil in the bagasse by means of a solvent. System operates collaterally and the process continues until the saturation of the solvent at a certain point. Distillator Distillator decomposes the solvent–oil blend by means of heating. Settling Tank The wastes in the decomposed oil in the distillator are removed by means of settlement. Hexene Tank The substance used as solvent is stored in these Hexene Tanks. The system is a closed circuit and the solvent are stored in liquid form in these tanks. Sunken Oil Tank The wastes substances obtained at the settling process are heated and any remaing part of oil is decomposed from these waste substances. Oil Separator The stream is decomposed from any foreign matters by means of douching and released to the open air. Hexene Condenser Hexene Condenser converts the solvent, used in the process while decomposing the oil from the bagasse, from gas form into liquid form. Hexene Catcher It is the last controlling and eliminating point for hexene. 15 OSTÝM INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT & BUSINESS INC. 4. REFINING UNIT a)NEUTRALIZATION UNIT This process includes the mixing of the oil with caustic soda and the removal of the dregs by centrifugal decomposition method in order to saponify oil acids in the oil. This process provides the production of 1st class consumable oil at end of refining process. The unrefined oil that comes in the smell elimination unit must be cleared of the impurity substances in order to obtain 1st class oil. Caustic Neeutralization and Bleaching are the required processes in order to obtain purified oil. b) BLEACHING UNIT The main objective of the Bleaching Unit is to eliminate the colarant substances in the oil and to succeed the optimum colour at the final output. In addition to that, Bleaching also provides the removal of any remaining soap substances before deodorize unit. The mixing process begins after the elimination of water from oil in the tank which also serves as a drier. Stream is applied after the vacuum is kept. After the temperature reaches a certain degree, soil is applied by means of vacuum. After the temperature of oil-soil mixture reaches to the required degree, stream is shut down and the process is finished by means of stirring. Oil and soil are sent to the filters by pumps and decomposed from each other by means of these filters. c) VINTERIZE UNIT When cooled to the room temperature, seed oil becomes roily in colour. Vinterizing is required to keep the oil bright at even lower temperatures. Vinterizing is the filtering process at low temperature. d) DEODORIZE UNIT Deodorization qualifies the real value of the consumed oil and therefore it is one of the most essential processes of the refining unit. Smell and taste are the most concerning points for consumers. These specifications are achieved by means of deodorants. For this reason, deodorants have significant importance in the oil industry. Every oil has a characteristic natural smell and this smell is tried to be cleared off through deodorants. This process is conducted by means of heating the oil over 200C in the deodorization reactor at the batch system via vacuum. 16 OSTÝM INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT & BUSINESS INC. 5. QUALITY CONTROL AND LABORATORY UNIT After the arrival of the sun flowers to the factory, oil and moisture percentages are determined from the collected samples. The oil and moisture percentages of the bagasse coming from the pressing unit can also be determined on demand. Also, the bagasse raised after the extraction process can be treated in the same way. For the refining process, some quality controls are performed to the unrefined oil, neutral oil, deodorized oil and the final product. BOTTLING AND FILLING Refined and controlled oil is bottled from 0,5lt to 18lt volume bottles on demand of the market. For the low volumes Plastic Bottle and for the high volumes Tin Cans are preferred.
