TICO #01381980 Itinerary September 2 - Lamezia (D) Arrive in Lamezia and transfer to Hotel. Overnight September 3 - Tropea – Pizzo (B,L,D) After breakfast enjoy your scenic transfer to Tropea, a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. The seventeenth-century urban architecture, the labyrinth of narrow streets, historic houses, beautiful squares and the church of Santa Maria Island situated directly on the beach with its beautiful gardens. This afternoon will we transfer to Pizzo Calabro to taste the famous "Tartufo" - Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. September 4 - Casale Li Monaci (B,L,D) Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Sant'ilario Ionian for your guided tour of the Wine and Farmhouse of "Casale Li Monks" and lunch at The Vineyard Restaurant. In the afternoon visit Gerace and Locri. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. September 5 - Reggio Calabria – Scilla (B,L,D) Enjoy your breakfast and then for a visit to Reggio Calabria, one of the most important cities of Calabria, featuring its cathedral and the Archaeological Museum. Free time for a walk on the most beautiful Kilometer of Italy (as it was defined by Gabriele D'Annunzio). Continue on to Scilla which stands on a promontory dominated by the castle of the Ruffo, dividing the town into two parts, on the one side the fishing district called "Chianalea" and on the other "Marina Grande" with a long sea-front board walk. Lunch and return to hotel for dinner and overnight. September 6 - Messina – Taormina (B,L,D) Have a good breakfast because we are going to have a great day! Starting with the Ferry to Messina and meeting our local guide, visit the cathedral bell tower. Wait for the spectacular show in the square. Lunch and then transfer to Taormina, perched on the rocks and certainly deserving of the title of "Pearl of Sicily" for its beautiful location. In the late afternoon departure for the return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. September 7 - Paola – Altomonte (B,L,D) Breakfast is the beginning of this fantastic day, we check out of our hotel and we we start our journey to Paola and the Shrine of St. Francis, located in the hilly part of the town of Paola, this is the birthplace of San Francesco. Visit the Sanctuary and a short visit to the town of Paola with lunch. In the afternoon we will transfer to Cosenza and a visit to the city of Bruzi, this beautiful spot is surrounded by green hills, and then we travel towards the Tyrrhenian Sea. Enjoy a walk and shopping along the Corso Mazzini. Dinner is in a local restaurant and we transfer to our new hotel for the night. La Terra Mia Calabria September 8 - San Donato di Ninea (B,L,D) Breakfast and then we travel to San Donato di Ninea, the beautiful countryside with a beautiful viewpoint from the valley Esaro and the Ionian Sea. The village is small but very cozy and adjacent to the village is a wonderful mountain and the peaks of the Pollino National Park. Do not miss a visit to the Mother Church Holy Trinity, Church of the Assumption and the beautiful caves of Sant 'Angelo. A boxed lunch is prepared by the hotel for us. This afternoon we visit to Madonna del Pettoruto and the village of San Sosti. Our spectacular dinner is at Colle del Sogni this evening with traditional Calabrese dances. Return to the hotel in Altomonte for overnight. September 9 - Civita - Morano Calabro (B,L,D) Enjoy your breakfast and then transfer to Civita in the Pollino National Park, not far from Frascineto and Ejanina. This is one of the historic communities of Italian-Albanians (Arbëreshë). The country is referred to as the Devil's Bridge, its landscapes are considered among the most beautiful of Calabria. Lunch at the "La Locanda del Parco", after lunch visit Morano Calabro and other beautiful Calabrese sites. Return to Altomonte for a walk in the Borgo. Dinner is at the Cantina Barbieri this evening with folk music. Overnight at hotel in Altomonte. September 10 - Diamante "Hot Pepper Festival" (B,L,D) Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to your hotel in Diamante. Lunch at the restaurant in the hotel and enjoy your free time in the afternoon visit the festival dedicated to the queen of the Festival. Dancing and singing is on every corner of Diamonte in celebration of the Festival. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. September 11 – Diamante (B,L,D) After breakfast we head back to the Festival Hot Peppers. Lunch is at the hotel restaurant and afternoon we are treated to a picturesque drive to Praia a Mare, Scalea, Santa Maria del Cedro, San Nicola Arcella and Cirella. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. September 12 – Return to Canada (B) After breakfast, check out of our hotel and transfer to the airport for your return flight back to Canada.
