Let’s continue the Tahoe fun in the biggest entertainment town in the world. The legendary South Shore Room at Harrah’s is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. Bill Harrah, the man who had the amazing vision to bring top major headlines to a small Tahoe Town, opened his now classic showroom in 1959 with the big radio, movie and TV star, Red Skelton. I saw Skelton years ago, shortly before he passed away, and he told so many funny and clean jokes (no cuss words) – it was unreal and exciting. Back then, there was a dinner show and cocktail show each night. The entertainer would come up for a one- or two-week engagement and pack the showrooms. The dinner shows stopped in the early 80s. I’ve seen so many impressive shows in over 30 years, from Sammy Davis, Jr. (who gifted me with invitations to spend time with him and his family over the years) to Steve Martin. The legendary Smothers Brothers who started nearly five decades ago, kicked off the 50th Anniversary Celebration for the Harrah’s Showroom. In the late 60s, the Smothers Brothers hit variety TV show was hip, topical and controversial. I talked to them backstage in the 90s about their career, and it’s pretty incredible. They are still so cool and funny! They had so much respect for Bill Harrah. During their press conference in November 2008, I said, “I had your comedy albums as a kid growing up;” and asked, “did these albums help your career?” They said it was really big for them, that they did 13 albums in all to really help make them popular. You can catch the Smothers timeless humor June 19-20. Talk about legends, Don Rickles, the master of insults, will be at Harrah’s Jan 23-24. Known as Mr. Warmth, now in his early 80s, Rickles is still a raging bull with his fast-paced humor – and it’s all in fun. He’s been on so many TV shows, movies and nightclub stages in his career, I couldn’t begin to list them all. Last year when I talked to Rickles backstage, he asked if I was going to write something nice about him. He has a new book and DVD out – go see the one and only! The Tubes, the unique rock band featuring lead singer Fee Waybill, that started in the 70s was so entertaining once again at Harrah’s. Waybill’s character, a 12-foot tall rock star by the name of Quay Lewd, sang “White Punks on Dope” including the audience in a sing-along. It was so cool, man! Waybill is like Carrot Top with props for so many of their songs. They’re known for outrageous performances and songs such as “Don’t Touch Me There,” “What Do You Want from Life?,” “Talk to Ya Later,” “She’s a Beauty” and many more. Next you can see The Outlaws Jan 10, Dave Mason Jan. 17, Marc Broussard Jan. 18, Don Rickles Jan. 23-24, Dr. John Jan. 31, and Smokey Robinson Feb. 17. Harrah’s Showroom turns into Vex Nightclub Thursday, Friday and Saturday with sexy Go-Go dancers and topless dancers to enjoy. Harveys has The Improv with host Howie Nave (from KRLT 93.9) and new comics each week – always fun to see! Horizon is offering Carnival Cabaret with men doing female impersonations of Cher, Reba, Barbra, Diana, Dolly, and Bette, with James “Gypsy” Haake as your host, modeling beautiful high fashion designer dresses and offering humorous and outrageous improv comedy. MontBleu has Grandmaster Flash Jan. 17 – the master of scratching records, rap and so much more. BLU Nightclub, offering $2 drinks on Monday, is always a party. Opal Ultra Lounge on Wednesday is the lingerie party, with free drinks for ladies from 8 to 11 p.m., followed by a lingerie show at midnight. Bobby does his body painting on the ladies at both places. Cabo Wabo at Harveys is always entertaining. Bar 24 Taproom and Grill at Bill’s has free drinks for ladies from 10 p.m. to midnight on Fridays. On Tuesdays, they have fun bar games and drink specials. At various times they offer midget wrestling, mechanical bull riding, sumo-padded wrestling, live music, DJs, Battles of the Bands, UFC fights on TV and so much more to check out. Good job Mike and the gang! Riva Grill at Ski Run Marina has Happy Hour from 4;30 to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Fish Taco Fridays with prizes and fun, and live music on Fridays and Saturdays with Jackie Douzat. Get a delicious Wet Woody there – uuuummm good! Mo’s Place, with pool tables, big screen TVs, Happy Hour from 4-7, live music, DJs, and food, had Blue Turtle Seduction. Tahoe’s home-brewed stars toured and played around 200 shows last year. Their new CD is called 3 Floors. With a mix of bluegrass, jam, reggae and rock, there was a lot of dancing going on – very cool! Keep up the good work, boys! And remember, have fun – you’re in Tahoe! The Lake Tahoe Entertainer Online brought to you by The Lake Tahoe Entertainer Online brought to you by Skibum is Printing a Public Apology! Mark this day on your calender for the Skibum is printing a public apology to everyone. I said I would not cut my beard for an entire year and I lied. I just cut it after 7 months, I couldn’t stand it anymore. The hair will stay though. After not drinking for 21 years, T Bork bought me a beer on mandatory Friday at the Heave. He thought it was non-alky beer and I drank it and actually caught a buzz. Now everybody knows I can talk the ears off a wooden Indian sober but I tended to quiet down when I used to drink so thanks to T Bork, they were lining em up to shut me up. Could be a new trend. The City is apparently not giving up the fight to keep Officer Johnny Poland off the Police force after being let go almost two years ago. A couple of weeks ago Poland won a Binding Arbitration to immediately be reinstated against the City by a 3 to 0 vote. The arbitrator’s were Tom Davis (for Johnny), Ex SLT Police Chief Don Muren (for the city), and an outside mediator with 14 years experience to oversee. Now I always thought “Binding Arbitration” meant exactly that, binding. But I looked up the word in The City Webster Dictionary and lo and behold it tells me to also see “ Maybe Binding Maybe Not”. Right after the decision was made to reinstate Poland The City Council held a secret meeting to discuss terms and explore options to his coming back such as appealing the decision, a monetary buyout or God forbid total reinstatement. Of course Poland has to live with an initial 6 week suspension then he will get reinstated with all back pay, COLA’s and any promotions he might have gotten. There is also another City Council meeting coming up where they, The City Council, will have to decide what to do in public. Interesting thing about the Council actually having to now make the decision when they could have nipped this thing in the bud two years ago when Poland first alerted the council to the problem. The council got a memo basically telling them not to mettle in City affairs and that the City Manager and Chief would handle the problem. Another reason for a Full Time Mayor. As if the Police department didn’t learn from the first survey done, The Taylor Nelson, (with private money so they wouldn’t have to release the findings if unfavorable, which they were), upper upper management approached the POA (Police Officers Association) and asked them to take a survey on whether or not they wanted Poland back and present the anticipated negative response before the Council meeting coming up. Be interesting to see if they allow the finding to be presented as it came back overwhelming in favor of getting Poland back. With all the city has on it’s plate, it has to waste time on this. Suck up and bust you guys, swallow the pride and Move On!! Finding #5 in the Grand Jury states “The evidence received by the Grand Jury paints a picture of a Department in crisis. Many of the statements made by members of the SLTPD and information gathered through documents can only be classified as troubling...” To which the City response is “ The Chief of Police and police management acknowledge that there are communication and cynicism problems, and they want to correct them” Really Now. Finally figured out how many resident locals there are left in the city and county, and I mean real long time local residents who have a stake in the what actually goes on here, City 10,681 and County 680. Got that figure from the election result totals for City Council and Measure G. Rumor of the Month: City is filing a Lien against “The Hole” Sign(s) that Winter is officially here: Driver side Wiper goes out, Tourists forget about the Idiot Lane, Twofers disappear and it always snows on blackout days. A note to the gentleman who complains about me “Hiding” behind my plate: I have been “Hiding” for about eleven years now and I doubt if I will change. Great idea though about the TV series with me as a Savior of Tahoe. Call my Editor and you guys can do lunch. Want to say goodbye to Cathy DiCamillo, our City Attorney, who will be leaving us soon. We will miss you. She wasn’t one of the good ones, she was “ The Good One” Later. Skibum As Usual: [email protected]. The Tahoe area is quite fortunate when it comes to year-round fly fishing! We are with in an hour or two of some of the best winter trout fishing in the world. All you have to do to enjoy it is to drive a bit and be prepared with proper clothing and away you go. With the proper fly selection and a little patience, Brown Trout, Rainbows and an occasional Steelhead can be caught throughout the entire winter. The size of the fish will range from small to quite large if in the right spot at the right time, with the correct drift and holding your mouth just right! There are two types of winter fly fishing, one is when the temperatures are very cold and the weather is not cooperating (one of my favorite times because everyone stays home and the fishing can still be great). The other is when Mother Nature is treating us to our usual high desert winter weather (sunny, in the 50’s to 60’s and snowing in Tahoe). The latter is when I suggest most of you give it a try. There is nothing worst than trying to fly fish when you can’t hang onto your rod and the eyes on the rod are freezing solid and you cannot cast. If you prepare yourself for all the conditions that winter can bring, you will have a better chance of catching fish. One of the most important items you must have is a proper pair of winter gloves. This single item can make or break an experience. Other clothing items that will help you enjoy some winter fly fishing are quality long johns, breathable waders, wicking style socks, GoreTex or similar waterproof jacket and a nice warm hat. These are all items that most of you have if you are here in town for skiing or are a local. Another item that will come in handy is Ice Off Paste. This will help keep the ice from forming on the eyes of the rod and allow the fly line to cast freely. And now for the places you might want to try this Winter Fly Fishing. One of my favorites is the East Walker River in Nevada. There are quite a few miles of fishable water starting 14 miles down stream from the town of Bridgeport, 2 miles below the Nevada State line. Low flows during the winter create a great fishery when flowing in the 50-150 CFS level. Usually the hatches go off midday and consist of Baetis or midges. Nymphing is probably the best method for producing quality fish. The West Walker River can be good as well. Wilson Canyon and Hoye Canyon on either side of Smith Valley, Nevada have public access and can produce some large trout. The Truckee River either in the Verdi area or down stream of Reno is also a good winter fishery as well. All of these waters are within a few hours drive of Tahoe and have a decent population of fish. Swinging emergers or indicator Nymphing will produce the best results. Pyramid Lake is another winter spot worth Victor Babbit a try. Cutthroats are the prizes in this fishery. They can run as big as you can imagine and fight well. The normal method used to catch these large fish is to use shooting heads and fish streamers along the bottom. Most anglers will use a ladder to stand on, out in about 3-4 feet of water. Try light and dark colored streamers in combination. These are only a few of the winter opportunities for fly fishing in Nevada and California. With a little research and a willingness to fight the weather, winter fly fishing can be better than summer fly fishing with a lot less crowding. Good luck and give it a try; I think you will be glad you did. For further information on these fisheries or any others in the area, stop by Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters located next to Midas Mufflers at 2705 Lake Tahoe Blvd in the middle of South Shore. Or give us a call at 530-541-8208 and we will help with whatever you might need for a day of fishing our local waters! That seems to be the consensus with just about everybody I have run this by with. To be honest I’m just happy to be working still. The old saying goes that if your friend is out of work then we’re in a recession but if I’m out of work then it’s a depression. Speaking in the first person of course. I don’t know man I have noticed people appearing to be a little more tense these days inside the comedy club and in some ways the comedy reflects the changing mood of the country. There are some good things to look forward to like the inauguration of our new President no matter what your feelings may be about him it can’t be any worse than the outgoing one. It remains to be seen I know. I am still very skeptical about any and all politicians. I am always of the mindset that anyone who runs for office is merely doing it to benefit themselves and their close associates but I’m trying not to be so cynical about it. Call it a New Year’s Resolution but I won’t stop believing there’s someone out there (be it extra terrestrial or local) who is keeping tabs on my every movement. Gee that sounded freaky huh? Oh well whatever feelings I have paranoid or not at least I have the stand up as a form of therapy. It’s cheaper than therapy that’s for sure! One comic who will put your fears at ease is Chicago comedian John Caponera who is back for the first time in this New Year. He loves this kind of weather too. Reminds him of his native city. Had he not gone into stand up he would have made for an excellent sports broadcaster since he incorporates so many different voices and play-by-play announcing in his show. And as a Chicago native you’re either a Cubs fan or a White Sox fan there is no common ground between the two sports teams. And his Cubs (sorry for what happened this past season ‘Cap’) could use his voice for the next season. My favorite sports guy he does is that of the Chicago Cub’s late, great voice announcer, Harry Caray. The other voice I think he does that is brilliant is that of Vin Scully, long time voice of the Dodgers. It’s just such a treat to hear him bring those legends in a comedic format on stage. It’s always fun to point out that Cap actually appeared on “The Gong Show” back in 1979. Nah, not the nationally syndicates, Chuck Barris version but a local, Chicago version. That was his first intro into the world of stand up. John jokes that “I walked away with the $500.00 winner’s pot and the pay hasn’t really changed that much.” It only took him two years on the Chicago comedy club circuit (there were a bunch of comedy clubs back then plus Chicago is pretty huge) before he took his act on the road. Howell J. Malham Jr. of The Chicago Tribune wrote, “Every so often, the kingdom of comedy is graced with a gifted, naturally refined performer who can effectively demonstrate the transcendental powers of the medium while making it look deceptively easy.” It’ll be interesting to se how John does this year as he is already booked through April, which is always a good thing in this business. The further booked in advance we are the less chance we’ll have to ask the new president for a comedy bailout. That’s what’s coming next isn’t it? Appearing with Cap is Frances Dilorinzo. She’s a fireball of enthusiasm combining your basic silliness with a smart intellect all rolled into one sarcastic entity. This is her second time here and between her and I can honestly say, what a pair (of comedians). Catch Cap with Francis the week of January 6th through the 11th. Rondell Sheridan is back only for the second time up here. For millions of Americans Sheridan is an extended part of their families. He played the father on the Nickelodeon series, “Cousin Skeeter” (as Andre, Bobby’s father) then Raven Simone’s dad on the Disney Channel series, “That’s So Raven” and “Cory in the House” where Sheridan is part uncle, part babysitter and big-part funniest adult friend. Rondell started his acting career back ’83 when he starred in the movie “Deadtime Stories.” That was him as the Looney Bin Guard. He later created the show “Minor Adjustments” and also starred on the Show as Dr. Ron Aimes. That show has the dubious distinction as the first and only show to premiere on one network (NBC) then to be sold and aired on a second (UPN) during the same TV season. He also starred in “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” in 2000 and “The Test” in 2001 but it was Nickelodeon that really gave him worldwide acclaim. And by a weird coincidence he too is a Chicago native being raised in the tough area of Chicago’s South Side. Love that edginess displayed when he gets on a roll. The complete opposite of that would be David Gee from Santa Monica. David has performed with a wide variety of acts, which include The Beach Boys, Ray Charles, Bonnie Raitt, Kenny Loggins and Glen Campbell. He has appeared on HBO, Showtime, Entertainment Tonight and Comedy Central. Gee and Rondell January 13th through the 18th. Be there. Dat Phan just wrapped up production on a new movie entitled, “When in Rome” that stars Kristen Bell (“Sarah Marshall”), Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynomite”), Josh Duhamel (“Transformers” and the TV show, “Vegas”), Danny DeVito, Anjelica Huston, Dax Shephard and Will Arnett. What a far cry from his stint as the first winner on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” eh? Say what you will (and many comics have) the once unknown Dat Phan has since found himself on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” appeared in his first half hour comedy special on Comedy Central and with Kim Basinger in the feature length drama, “Cellular.” What a difference when you consider it really wasn’t that long ago when Dat Phan was living out of his car. When you think about it comedy was his way of getting out of a bad situation and also out of that car. Appearing with Dat is Skippy. Yep. Marc Price returns and I sure hope we have a lot of snow Price seems to bring the white stuff with him which is good news for us up here. Marc played the character of on the NBC sitcom “Family Ties” from 1982 to 1990. Marc is much more than that of course but people still like to refer to him as Skippy and has no problems with it whatsoever. It’ll be a fun week with a Skippy and a Phan together January 20th through the 25th. Howie Nave is the host/emcee/ manager of The Improv @ Harveys every Tuesday through Sunday. Howie also hosts his own morning show (“Howie’sMorning Rush”) on 93.9 KRLT radio Monday through Friday from 6 to 10am and now you can see him Monday through Friday at midnight on his very own television show, “Late Night Rush with Howie” on RSN. His weekly film reviews, “Nave’s Raves” appears in The Tahoe Daily Tribune’s Action Magazine every weekend. Howie’s new DVD, “Live From Lake Tahoe” is currently available after his shows nightly or you can order a copy on his website, www.Howienave.com. The Lake Tahoe Entertainer Online brought to you by Aprés Wine Company Brings Innovative Wine Tasting to Tahoe Locals and visitors in South Lake Tahoe will find the Après Wine Company a welcomed addition to the area’s entertainment and retail offerings. Après, a wine bar and full-service retail merchant of fine wines and gifts will be pioneering the “taste before you buy” system in the Lake Tahoe area. At Après, patrons can relax with friends, sample the best wines from around the world and find gifts for any occasion. Located in the heart of the Ski Run Business District, Après Wine Company is the newest tenant in the recently completed Ski Run Center, across the street from Lake Tahoe and just one mile from Heavenly Ski Resort. Après Wine Company is the dream venture of JP Lonergan, a long-time South Lake Tahoe home owner and new full-time transplant to the Tahoe area. After years of wine collecting and study, JP decided to abandon his SoCal real estate career and pursue his passion. “My goal is to provide people with a wine experience like no other,” says the enthusiastic Lonergan. “Our Enomatic tasting machines allow you to taste many different wines in a relaxed enjoyable setting. We specialize in ‘world class’ small production, artisan crafted wines from the entire planet at all price points. I plan to carry in excess of 300 labels with 50 wines available to taste daily.” Lonergan looks forward to serving the local community and area visitors at Après Wine Company. Après Wine Company’s Enomatic Taste Before You Buy System: Lonergan asks, “Have you ever shelled out your hard earned dollars for a ‘special’ bottle of wine that once opened left you disillusioned and short 50 bucks?” According to Lonergan, Après Wine Company’s Enomatic wine dispensing machines allow wine buyers to purchase a taste before the expense of buying a bottle, taking the stress and mystery out of ordering and buying wine. “South Lake Tahoe wine buyers no longer have to be intimidated by pretentious waiters or worrying they’re being sold a wine they won’t like or is too expensive.” Here is how the Enomatic system works – customers purchase an Après Wine Pass (similar to a debit card) and are handed a wine glass. Next, they select from 1 of the 24 bottles of wine on tap and choose a pour. After inserting the Après Wine Pass the machine dispenses a 1 ounce pour, deducts the amount from the pass and pours the wine. Each bottle can have a different price per serving, and are priced to fit every budget, allowing customers to sample a variety of good, great and super premium wines. The machines ensure continual wine freshness by injecting neutral gas into the bottles to prevent air from oxygenating the wine. With Enomatic, a bottle can remain perfectly fresh for weeks. Lonergan notes, “the system not only provides a sure-fire way to discover new and delicious wines, the process is an entertaining, fun wine-tasting activity to do with friends without the hassle of driving to distant wineries.” The Wine Bar - Relax Over A Glass of Wine: Après’ warm and inviting Wine Bar is designed to provide hard-working and hard playing residents and visitors a place to unwind, relax and have a good time. Serving 24 wines by the glass daily, in addition to the 24 featured in the Enomatic tasting machines, the Wine Bar also has a nice selection of tapas-style appetizers and meals and wine flights. The daily flight menu consists of a selection of wines, usually three 2 ounce portions, presented for the purpose of sampling and comparison. This format allows tasters to evaluate and contrast different wines within a theme. For example, wines from the same region and vintage would comprise a flight, or wines from the same variety but different regions. It is a great way to illuminate the similarities and differences in the grouping. Après’ Wine Bar will also have regular tasting events, play host to periodic guest winery tastings, conduct wine classes and can be reserved for special events. The Wine and Gift Shop - Find The Perfect Bottle Of Wine Or Gift For Any Occasion: Après offers shoppers fine wines, wine accessories, and gifts for every personality, from warm household décor for the perfect host to picnic accessories for outdoor enthusiasts. At Après, 300 quality crafted wines are available by the bottle or case with a broad domestic and international selection to serve wine fans’ interests in new and established vintners. The innovative Enomatic wine tasting machines that let you “try before you buy” guarantee that customers get just the right wine to toast the host or celebrate a special occasion. After making these tough decisions, shoppers are encouraged to unwind in the Wine Bar! Come to Après and swirl, sniff, sip and enjoy! The Lake Tahoe Entertainer Online brought to you by ‘The Buzz’ - Harrah's - Harveys January ushers in amazing performances as the South Shore Room at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe kicks off its 50th Anniversary celebration. The month begins as Little Anthony & The Imperials bring their R&B, honey-smooth style music for one-night only, Saturday, January 3. Next up, The Outlaws high-powered, guitardriven, southern-rock will fill the South Shore Room on Saturday, January 10. On January 17, hall of fame legend Dave Mason takes the stage, followed by contemporary rhythm and blues newcomer Marc Broussard on January 18. The 50th anniversary bash would never be complete without a visit from “Mr. Warmth” himself, Don Rickles. At age 82, on the heels of earning a Primetime Emmy in 2008 for his documentary, “Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project,” Rickles is as busy and as popular as ever. Mr. Rickles will grace the South Shore Room with his presence for a special two night engagement, January 23 and 24. To top off an amazing month of performances, legendary New Orleans jazz musician Dr. John will perform an exclusive one-night only engagement on Saturday, January 31. Dr. John combines the jazz influences of the Crescent City with blues, rock and roll, and boogie woogie genres. His 1974 recording “Gumbo” is considered the cornerstone of New Orleans music and was ranked 402 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. More amazing performances are just around the corner as the South Shore Room enjoys this historic anniversary celebrating 50 years of entertainment! Hundreds of the world’s most popular singers, comedians, Broadway shows, pop bands and rock bands have graced the maple boards of the legendary showroom. Superstars from today and yesterday, including Frank Sinatra, Jack Benny, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Sammy Davis, Jr., Bob Dylan, Jerry Lewis, Robin Williams, Willie Nelson, Tom Jones, Jonny Lang, Liberace, Johnny Mathis, Wayne Newton, Patti Page, Diana Ross & The Supremes, George Burns, Donna Summer, Danny Thomas, Andy Williams, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Loretta Lynn, Belafonte, Tony Bennett, Sonny & Cher, Carol Burnett, George Burns, Ray Charles, Nat “King” Cole, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Bill Cosby, Liza Minnelli, and many others, have played the famed Harrah’s Lake Tahoe stage. 2009 promises to be truly unforgettable as legendary performers such as Bob Newhart, Joan Rivers, The Smothers Brothers and Don Rickles return to the stage. Winter is here and it’s 2009 - the year of the OX! This means big things for me - I can already tell...My zodiac sign is Taurus and my favorite thing to do is work (thus an OX is a working Bull) but who could blame me - I get paid to throw parties! Although Winter got off to a slow start we still saw some great shows pass through town! One Block Radius, Blue Turtle Seduction, The Grouch & Eligh, Del the Funky Homosapien, Mystic Roots and Pato Banton to name a few. I had to take advantage of a one in a life time opportunity as well....I traveled down to Reno to catch Cheech and Chong live as they reunited for the first time in 36 years! Now, I can’t say that I participate in the same extra-curricular activities as them or their many fans that night - but I had an ear to ear smile just the same! I can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard!! DAVES NOT HERE! Late-Nite Productions will be starting off the New Year will a couple Hip-Hop shows with Bay Area Pioneers - Souls Of Mischief. First, in Reno at The Underground on Thursday, January 8th and all-ages are welcome and then the next day, Friday, January 9th they will be in South Lake at Whiskey Dicks Saloon for the 21+. This Crew consists of Tajai, Opio, Phesto and A-Plus from Hieroglyphics and they are no strangers to Tahoe. If you are familiar, you will know the song that made them famous - ‘93 till infinity. That’s right, they have been strong in the game for 15+ years remaining Independent and Underground but yet very successful! Next we have a showcase of Local Artists, Blue Turtle Seduction and Deep Fryed Mojo. This is happening at Mo’s Place on Thursday, January 15th. If you were to ask one of the guys from Blue Turtle what genre of music they categorize themselves as, I doubt you will get a consistent answer! I know that someone will inevitably correct me but I have heard them best described as “High Altitude Jam Grass” I have seen these guys play since some of there first shows ever in Tahoe and they are a true example that hard work pays off. From a modest start, they now tour Nationally and play some of the most prestigious Venues and Festivals across the Country. MLK Weekend I will be bringing the Bay Area to Tahoe with the first edition of “Bay Area Rap Katz” featuring Mistah F.A.B. plus guests The Bayliens, DJ Titto Bell, Mavrik and DJ True Justice. Mistah F.A.B., is a Bay Area rapper from North Oakland, Ca. He is signed to rap legend Mac Dre’s label, Thizz Entertainment and Atlantic Records. Mistah F.A.B. is an acronym for “Money Is Something to Always Have - FaEva Afta Bread.” This is going down on Sunday, January 18th at Mo’s Place and if you saw him last year, you know to get your tickets early because the show was SOLD OUT! On March 8th we will be bringing you the second addition of “Bay Area Ray Katz” featuring Andre Nickatina - stay tuned! To end the month, we will be paying tribute to (pretty much) everybody’s favorite band - Sublime. No one does it better than Lou Dog Trio! They have now been up here a few times and are definitely a Tahoe favorite. Some of the fist shows I ever produced in Arcata, Ca were with Sublime over 15 years ago and this is as close as you are going to get to the real thing! Over two hours of every one of your favorite Sublime hits. Audiodub and Top Shelf will open. The show is Saturday, January 31st at Whiskey Dicks. I know Bradly drove the Ladies crazy and Lou Dog Trio does too! Just a little reminder that every Sunday night at Mo’s Place we are giving away a brand new snowboard and partying with World Famous DJ Red! We have drink specials all night and this is the best locals party in town! Hip-Hop Anthems and Mashup’s to keep the Vibe Alive! February looks busy as ever - The Saddle Tramps, Nappy Roots, Pep Love from Hieroglyphics, Rise of the Revolution, Reverend Horton Heat, Throw Rag, Agent Orange, Killah Priest from Wu-Tang Clan, Luckyiam from living Legends, Potluck and Hellbound Glory are already confirmed. You know me, I’ll probably sneak in a couple more between now and then! Big thanks to Sierra at Tahoe for supporting Late-Nite Productions and the Local Music Scene!
