The professional and amateur athletes come to battle
in spectacular and extremely popular competitions.
Just like at its very beginnings with the Festival des
Sports Extrêmes (FISE), the FISE World Series offers
spectacular events in staple locations of each of the host
cities. The festival like vibe and action sports filled days
are always an important part of the event, but people
can also come to enjoy exhibition villages, demos and
initiations for everyone on top of the regular competition
schedule. Through the tour, the riders cumulate points
through each one of the stops, while gaining important
media exposure and having the possibility to win
significant prize money. Overall rankings are calculated
at the end of the tour, determining the year’s champion
in each one of the disciplines. Notable point this year,
the FISE World Series organizes the UCI BMX Freestyle
Park World Cup for the first time ever, bringing a double
stake for the BMX riders.

Known as The Mile High City due to its altitude
of 5,280 feet (one mile for approximately
1,600 meters), Denver is a vibrant, youthful,
creative city and the perfect setting for FISE.
It is frequently regarded as one of the best
sports cities in the U.S. due to the vast fans
base of its seven professional sport teams,
including the recent Super Bowl Champion
Denver Broncos. Denver also has a large
population of local athletes – including FISE
World Series BMX athlete, AJ Anaya – looking
to leave their mark. The city is thrilled to host
FISE and to showcase the Sculpture Park
at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
In addition to boasting the ideal venue for
FISE, Denver’s urban atmosphere and laidback, walkable city center supply a true

The BMX Freestyle Park is an extreme cycling sport; it is physical, technical and
spectacular aerobatics are practiced in a BMX park with big curves, boxes, jumps,
transfers and others ramps favorable to BMX riding. BMX Freestyle Park professional
competitions are the most popular and spectacular disciplines in the FISE World
Series. You do not want to miss it! This discipline gathers the best athletes from
around the world who come to make the crowd go wild. Daniel Dhers, Mark Webb,
Logan Martin, Daniel Sandoval… these are only a few names you will have the chance
to see in this event!
This discipline developed a strong identity and is quite different from other BMX
styles. With this type of BMX, the riding takes place on a flat surface, where the
riders perform balance tricks, often using only one wheel or only the pegs. The
artistic aspect is at the center of this discipline and style is a decisive argument
in this type of contest. Flat BMX bikes are lighter and shorter, making them more
maneuverable. For more fluidity, many flatlanders use only the front brake and
sometimes no brake at all.

PRESENTATION
For the first time in its history, BMX
Freestyle Park becomes a recognized
bicycle discipline, as it is now certified
by the UCI.
This new movement in the cycling world is the result
of a great collaboration between L’Union Cycliste
Internationale (UCI) and Hurricane through the launch
of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup. The first
edition of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup 2016
will take place during the international FISE World
Series competitions. It will be the springboard for the
UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, planned for
2017. These championships will include BMX Freestyle
Park, Cross Country Mountain Bike Eliminator (XCE)
and Trials.
The DNA of Freestyle sports… This discipline comes from California and is the child
of the Surf culture. At first, only a mean to roll around, it boomed as a freestyle sport
in the 80s. Today, it is the most democratized board sport. It is literally everywhere: in
fashion, advertising, art and lifestyle. It is truly a way of living and a way to live by. There
are plenty of sub-disciplines in Skateboarding: Downhill, Megaramp, Bowl ... But the
skatepark remains the most developed part, especially regarding competitions. This
year is an important milestone in Skateboarding history as it has officially became an
Olympic sport and will be featured at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. FISE is proud
to be one of the first World Series presenting skateboarding competitions.

27 years old Frenchman Matthias is now one of the
main international characters of BMX Flat. Three-times
world champion (2008, 2009, 2011 and 2016), he has
won over 20 first place victories at different events
over the last 5 years. He is the winner of the FISE World
Montpellier 2016. His vision of life can be summed up in
one sentence: “live life to the fullest and in good health,
die old and happy”. Matthias has a long career ahead of
him with many more important victories to come.

ALEX JUMELIN,

38 YEARS OLD

Alex has been around on the BMX Flat world circuit
for more than 20 years. At the age of 19, he signed his
first contract with Adidas Pro and won 4 world titles in
the amateur category. A true legend of the discipline,
Alex continues to win international competitions. He
finished second during the FISE World Montpellier in
2016. He clearly hasn’t spoken his last word yet and
will give everything to win Denver’s stop. He is an
innovator, as he came up with several advanced BMX
flat moves during his career. We are sure that there will
be more worlds’ firsts for him in the future. He is the
only athlete who has attended all the 19 editions of the
FISE World Montpellier.

His constant happiness, contagious positivity and his
talent as a showman make Joris a unique and pleasant
rider to watch and hang out with. He has an impressive
facility learning any trick on his bike. He is not a full
time pro rider as he is also working as a train driver. He
has left his mark this year at the FISE World Montpellier
finishing 3rd.

Winner of the FISE World Series in 2015 and FISE World
Montpellier in 2013/2014, Logan is the new prodigy of
professional Freestyle BMX. Since his first appearance
on a FISE event 4 years ago Logan has stepped up on
the podium with amazing consistency. Logan is very
technical and with his fast, wide and engaged riding
vocabulary, he is one of the best Park riders in the
world. Logan won the BMX Spine competition at FISE
World Montpellier 2016 and the UCI BMX Freestyle
Park at FISE World Croatia 2016. One of the men to
follow for the FISE World Series 2016!

DANIEL DHERS,
THE MACHINE

• Currently 2nd of the FISE World Series 2016
Daniel Dhers is a recognized BMX park rider and
his nicknames are « DD » or « The Machine ». Daniel
Dhers’ breakthrough came in 2006, as he won the
Action Sports Tour; then the Venezuelan rider became
the man to beat in 2007, but no one could really rival
him. Daniel was also the very first rider to win the
FISE World Series in 2014. He is constant in his results
during the FISE World Series 2016, he finished twice
2nd at the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup Final
and is ahead on the tour!

Vincent started skateboarding when he was only 8
years old and is not willing to stop his current ascension.
He has gained a solid reputation on the internet over
the last few years and 2016 has confirmed his talents
thank to his first place at the FISE World Montpellier.
He is currently leading the tour; will he succeed to
maintaining his ranking thought the next stops?

Within just a few years Mike has made his mark on the
web (no pun intended) with his very risky combo tricks
and his viral videos. Very young, his career progressed
at a quick pace as he joined the “DK Bicycles team”
and the “Monster Energy team”. Mike is always hyper
energetic and we can actually feel it in his riding and
see it in his skills when he lands a tech combo. A
friendly and amazing rider! He finished 5th at the UCI
BMX Freestyle Park World cup and won the best trick
contest at the FISE World Croatia.

He became well known by dominating many French
street Skateboarding contests between 2009 and
2013. His best trick is the 360 flip that he catches
with his front leg. In March 2013 he became the first
skateboarder to do a switch frontside flip on the 5
blocks of Bercy. He turned pro in 2014 and rides for
Jart Skateboards. In May 2015, he was hooked up by
Bud skateshop and then Mountain Dew France and
won the FISE Xperience Reims.
