Equine Sale Reports
Equine Sale Reports Wednesday 10th September 2014 123 Horses, Ponies, Donkey’s and a Mule were entered on the day which wasn’t a surprise as Autumn is coming and next thing it will be winter and no one wants to keep horses through the winter. It is back to a strong buyers’ market, not many private buyers bidding around the ring, many horses where purchased by dealers to be taken to other auctions. There is NO Meat trade at Beeston No direct buyers come Beeston to buy horses and this is why they are trailed from sale to sale (perhaps even more cruel). A total of nearly 30 equine came from Ireland and where presented for sale, totally in their working clothes some nice bred horses that just needed a bit of love, bringing back in to some work and put some condition on, it must be a real opportunity for someone to turn some of these equine in to a money earning business, by just giving many of them just a wash, brush and tidy their feet. Many of the unwanted equine that come because of financial difficulties are an absolute bargain. Below are some true prices gained in the sale rather than the bunkum seen on facebook. Best price of the day went to 15.1hh 9yo Dun Gelding cob for £880, next a beautiful golden buck skin 3yo Connemara gelding, a coloured Irish x Cob Mare broken to ride at £600, an 8yo 14.2hh Bay Gelding at £500, a 4yo Irish Draught X Connemara described as he had jumped and hunted a few times last summer and then turned away for the summer reached £500, another Connie 4yo 14.2hh described in the ring to be quiet to handle and had been professionally broken sold for £460. A couple of donkeys sold today topping at £300 for a Mare with a Jenny foal, a big riding gelding that realised £160. Section A colt foals sold from £20 to £85, Section D’s to £110, from Buxton a Shetland breeder sold a Mare and foal for £180 and a cheeky Shetland Stallion for £35. The two Irish vendors entered approximately 30 horses and ponies a long distance to travel with little rest some big riding horses in their working clothes and not shown with any tack sold to £4oo and an unbroken one at £450, with some spit and polish I am sure these could be turned round and made in to some good looking horses perhaps doubling your money? A consignment of 9 Coloured gypsy cob mares from River Meadows Stud sold unbroken but nice quiet types which would take very little breaking topped at £270 from £100. A 7yo bay gelding by Watermill Swatch sold due to the owner’s loss of job making £350, finally an amusing yearling Mule sold for £140. Overall many of the prices achieved reflected in the quality of equine entered.
