UNIVERSITY OF BRESCIA The Universityof Brescia is a young, medium-sized university in a city of art and culture with an excellent quality of life. It is located in one of the most productive regions of Italy, both from an industrial and from an agricultural standpoint, which also attracts visitors from around the world because of its stunning natural surroundings and because of its high-quality wine. The University of Brescia was formally founded in 1982, building on courses that had been taught previously under the umbrellas of three other prestigious universities of Northern Italy (in Milano and Parma). It had a School of Medicine, one of Engineering, and one of Economics. In 1996, a School of Law became the fourth School. Today they are called “Macro-areas” of study, as a consequence of a national reform in 2012, and the University is organised as 8 independent departments, all of which offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Ph.D. programmes, and various formats of specialised schools, including summer schools. More than 15.000 students are currently enrolled, including over 1000 students from other countries. The University of Brescia is distributed into a very modern campus in the Northern area of the city which houses the macro-areas of Medicine and Health-related studies, and of Engineering. This scientific campus is an extension of the grounds of the large and famous hospital “Spedali Civili” of Brescia. The subjects of the macro-areas of Economics and Law are taught in several historical buildings of the central part of the city. There are three university libraries, a brand new cafeteria, student housing facilities and sports facilities, and the cultural aspects of student life are handled by the students themselves (with some projects receiving support from the administration). The Mission of the University of Brescia is to educate the new generations to develop an integrated approach to Applied and Social Sciences for the Health and Wealth of People and of the Environment. www.unibs.it eCAMPUS UNIVERSITY eCampus is an international University welcoming students from all over the world. It was founded by the Italian Ministry for Education in 2006 and since then has counted over 20,000 students. The University is located in Milan (Italy) on a campus surrounded by countryside. It includes residence facilities with 270 rooms and other areas available for teachers and students, and is spread over more than 10 hectares. It is a modern and innovative University combining the modern digital systems of online universities with the methodologies used by the most prestigious universities. This academic structure allows eCampus to reach excellent learning results fast. The academic structure of eCampus University is based on an advanced technological system and offers students three different attendance types: a Residential Programme, Combined Programme and Distance Learning Only. With the Residential Programme students follow lessons together with their classmates with the continuous assistance of a tutor who facilitates study and learning. Attendance is daily, from Monday to Friday. With the Combined Programme students attend lessons online from their own country (attending 6 weeks of lessons in person in Milan per term), whilst those who choose the Distance Learning Only can attend fully online, because attendance in Milan is only required for exams which are held at the end of each term (with the possibility of catch-up sessions). eCampus, in any case, is not a solely virtual learning environment: students can always count on the assistance of an online tutor (even on Skype) and this way never lose contact with academic reality. eCampus University has 5 faculties and 22 degree courses, classic or innovative, but all up-to-date according to market demands and capable of answering to changes in the economic and social tissue. The courses at the faculties of Economics and Engineering are also available in English (3/5 year duration) with the following courses: FACULTY OF ECONOMICS ECONOMICS AND TRADE BANKING AND INSURANCE SCIENCE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING ENGINEERING WITH COMPUTING &AUTOMATION ENERGY ENGINEERING CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING MANAGERIAL ENGINEERING www.uniecampus.it EUROPEAN INSTITUTE OF DESIGN IED has been established in 1966 and through the time, it has become a 100% Made in Italy network of excellence, operating in the fields of training and research, in the disciplines of Design, Fashion, Visual Communication and Management. Above all, IED is an evolving educational system with capability and dedication to reinventing itself on a daily basis. Its mission is to offer young creatives a both theoretical and practical training and hand them the ‘Design Knowledge and Mindset’ that will accompany them throughout their lives. It is far more than a school: thanks to its unwavering commitment to innovation, it is the melting pot where new generations of professionalism are constantly unfolded. IED is a powerhouse of ideas that develops creativity through its range of: • Undergraduate BA courses • Short term courses • Masters • Advanced training programs Our graduates and the brilliant positions of responsibility they occupy in the creative professions and enterprise tell the story of the excellence generated by IED. It’s a success story that has contributed to the achievement of the official recognition, for the majority of IED courses, by the Ministries of Education in the countries where IED operates directly. The design matrix takes the form of the four IED Schools: Design, Fashion, Visual Communication and Management. Each IED location houses four completely independent schools: what unites them is the common denominator of design culture and shared inspiring principles. IED teaching methods require that all the schools: • forge strong bonds with the local production systems in their regions; • interface with their benchmark sectors; • evolve depending on the growth standards of their underly ing markets and professional situations. For these reasons the IED training courses are often thriving trend anticipators. IED represents a conceptual innovation hub. A number of professionals from a variety of backgrounds come together to provide the input for a cross-fertilisation between areas and disciplines, and the outcome is excellence. www.ied.edu FREE FINE-ARTS ACADEMY Laba, Libera Accademia di Belle Arti, is qualified, within the Italian university system, as an Institute of Higher Education in Art with European and intercontinental aim. Laba was born under the sign of an idealism that seeks to safeguard the authenticity and freedom of expression as fundamental values of the person.
