The Brazilian outfit would be contributing for the development of Indian Football and help in building a strong U-17 team for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in India. It is a long-term collaboration where Paranaense will contribute a lot of technical knowhow for the development of a strong Indian side. Furthermore, the two Directors – Javier Ceppi and Joy Bhattacharya are on board with us as we build towards the U-17 World Cup. Both of them have a lot of expertise in technical as well as administrative matters and are the right people to take this first-of-its kind project forward. I would also like to congratulate the Women’s National Team for defending their Women’s SAFF Crown in Islamabad. Well done. Keep it up Besides, we also signed a tripartite agreement with AFC and Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy & Sports Science Centre (SRASSC) for the upcoming 5th AFC Medical Conference slated to be held from April 2-14, 2015. This is the first the time any Medical Institution has come forward to support Football. We look forward to the partnership. Warm regards, Kushal Das Mr. AR Khaleel, Chairman, I-League and Federation Cup Committee Chaired the I-League and Federation Cup Committee Meeting which was held at All India Football Federation (AIFF) Headquarters Football House, Dwarka on November 24. Besides Mr. Khaleel and representatives from all I-League Clubs, Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, All India Football Federation; Mr. Subrata Dutta, Vice-President, AIFF; Mr. Ankur Datta, Deputy Chairman, I-League Committee and Mr. Sunando Dhar also attended the Meeting. Mr. Anupam Dutta (representing FSDL) and Mr. Prasenjit Basu from Ten Sports were also present as were Mr. Souter Vaz and Mr. ZA Thakur (both Members). The proposed AIFF U-15 Tournament for I-League Clubs was greeted with much applause by the Clubs. The inaugural edition of the Tournament will be held in the next calendar year and will be a 16-Team event where esides the 10 I-League Teams, four other Academies and the two All India Football Federation Academies would be a part of it. In the first edition, 14 Teams would be divided into two groups (of seven Teams each) and the top three from each Group would be joined by the two AIFF Academies in the final round. It was unanimously decided that the registration of Players would be done centrally through the State Associations and all ID cards would be issued by AIFF. No Club would be allowed to register a Player after the completion of the 11th round of I-League. 1 It was informed that 75 I-League matches out of the total 110 matches would be telecast live by Ten Sports, the host broadcaster. AIFF will be discussing with its Technical Team as to whether a Goalkeeping Coach can be seated on the Bench. “We need to speak with our Technical Team about the Licence required for the Goalkeeping Coach to be seated on the bench.” Dhar also strongly reiterated that AIFF would “be monitoring practice sessions of every Club.” “None other than an A-Licence holder would be allowed to conduct practice sessions. As per the I-League regulations any Coach/ Technical Director would not be allowed to sit on the bench or even enter the Dressing Room on the match day,” he stated. As per the release of Players for the AFC U-22 Qualifiers slated to be held from March 23 to March 31, 2015, the Clubs agreed to get back to the AIFF over the same. Dhar also informed that the 2nd Division League would take place in two venues which are to be finalised post inspection by AIFF. The eight participating Clubs are Aizawl FC, Chanmari FC, United Sports Club, Mohammedan Sporting, PIFA Sports, Kenkre Sports, Hindustan FC and Lonestar Kashmir FC. It was decided that the U-19 I-League will kick-off in the second week of December. The agreement sees the Brazilian outfit contributing for the development of Indian Football and help in building a strong U-17 team for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in India. “The present contract runs till December 2015 and we would love to extend it on a long term basis,” he maintained. Besides Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF; Dr. Luis Sallim, Vice-President, Atlético Paranaense and Mr. Luis Greco, Director of International Affairs, Atletico Paranaense were present on the occasion; as were Mr. Mr. Cesar Bonamigo, Deputy Chief, Embassy of Brasil in India; Mr. Mauro Federici, Director, Brasil India Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Roberto Mendes da Silva (Beto) amongst others. Dr. Sallim admitted it’s a “huge responsibility.” “Besides developing good Players we stress on grooming good human beings. Nothing will obstruct us to reach our main goal,” he pronounced. “AIFF will be a very good partner and I challenge that within a year, all in India would be happy about choosing Paranaense as a partner,” he said. The partnership deals in exchange of knowledge among Coaches, technical knowhow as to how to train, participation of AIFF Youth Teams in Camps at Atletico Premises in Brasil, etc. “Believe me, in 10 years, Indian Football can reach a great level. Believe it!” he stressed. “Today is a significant day for Indian Football as we are starting a long-term collaboration with a Club which will contribute a lot of technical knowhow for the development of a strong Indian side in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017,” Mr. Das said in the media gathering. Luis Greco mentioned the role of AIFF Technical Director Rob Baan in the “formulation of this partnership.” “I would like to inform that the idea was floated by our Technical Director Mr. Robert Baan who envisaged the U-17 National squad’s need to play in various Continents as they prepare for the U-17 World Cup,” he added. “It’s basically a technical contract. Paranaense has always been a reference for youth development in Brasil. 2 AIFF NEWSLETTER November 30, 2014 WC Tournament & Project Director take up reins With the FIFA U-17 World Cup on the horizon, the Local Organising Committeeappointed Javier Ceppi, Tournament Director and Joy Bhattacharjya, as the Project Director took up the reins from November 3, 2014 and will be based at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. “We are happy to have Javier and Joy with us for the U-17 World Cup,” AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das told www.the-aiff.com. “Both Javier and Joy have a lot of expertise in technical as well as administrative matters and are the right people to take this first-of-its kind project forward.” The appointment process was concluded after an interview panel comprising of GS, AIFF, Deputy General Secretary, AFC, FIFA Development Officer and a senior AIFF Executive Committee Member conducted interviews in late August. The short listed Candidates were then interviewed by Mr. Praful Patel before the appointments were finalised. Indian Women defend SAFF Crown in Islamabad India Women’s National Team made it three out of three in the 3rd SAFF Women’s Championship as they made short work of Nepal with a clinical 6-0 win in the final to clinch the crown for the third straight time in Islamabad. Bala Devi ended as the highest goalscorer with 16 goals. All India Football Federation President Mr. Praful Patel congratulated the Indian Senior Women’s Team in retaining the Women’s SAFF Championship. “Congratulations Girls,” he said in his message. “This triumph in Islamabad shows that there’s no dearth of talent as far as Women’s Football in India in concerned. All of you make us proud. Congratulations to all the Players and the Support Staff,” he stated. AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das also congratulated the Women’s Team on the victory. “Keep up the spirit. We now look forward for Indian Women squads to further make an impact at the AFC level.” 3 AIFF NEWSLETTER November 30, 2014 Medical Institution’s support for Football in India A tripartite agreement between Asian Football Confederation (AFC), All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy & Sports Science Centre (SRASSC) for the upcoming 5th AFC Medical Conference was signed at a City Hotel in New Delhi on November 1, 2014 as a first step towards a long partnership to develop Football in India. The 5th AFC Medical Conference, held every four years is the first-of-its-kind in India to be held from April 2 - 4, 2015 at JW Mariott, Aerocity, New Delhi, with an expected attendees of 800-1,000 including International delegates. India plays host to this high level “evidence based science & medicine” Conference for the first time in South and Central Asia. Moments after signing on the dotted line, Dato Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Chairman, AFC Medical Committee informed that, “this is the first time that we are having a private Medical Institution coming on board for the cause of Sports Medicine and Football in particular.” “This is a milestone for Football Medicine in Asia. Medical Institutions have in addition to clinical medicine now set eyes unto new and growing field of Sports Medicine. The partnership is very timely as FIFA and AFC is focusing on development of Indian Football. The health care of Players is essential for the growth of the sport and performance.” he stated. The General Secretary hoped for a long term association with the Chennai based Medical establishment and equipped, “I hope this is a long term agreement with AIFF and we can use their facilities for the National Teams in the future.” The AFC Medical Committee also met at the Football House to discuss more about the same. 4 AIFF NEWSLETTER November 30, 2014 AIFF organizes exclusive FIFA Course for Women Referees All India Football Federation’s first-ever exclusive Referees Course for Women – the FIFA-MA Women Referees Course was inaugurated by Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, FIFA Development Officer for South and Central Asia, in New Delhi on November 17. The Course organised by AIFF under the auspices of FIFA was attended by 25 Women Referees from all across the Country. Ms. Krystyna Szokolai from Australia was the Course Instructor. Inaugurating the five-day Course, Dr. Prabhakaran urged the participants to “interact as much as possible,” with all. “You are privileged to have Krystyna as your Instructor. Her experience will enrich and motivate you further towards fulfilling your dream” he added. “You are the flag bearers of Women’s Referring in India. You are already role models for many and you need to motivate a thousand more girls to get in Refereeing,” he further maintained. Krystyna complemented Dr. Prabhakaran by reiterating that to the participants that they need to “ask questions.” “Don’t feel shy,” she stressed. “The more you ask, the more you learn. Take back as much as you can from this Course,” she prophesied. “All of you have made sacrifices to come here. You have either left your studies, families, work or something else to attend this Course. But sacrifices are always worth. There’s paucity of Women Referees all over Asia. Make no compromises,” she pronounced. “I need to thank AIFF for giving me this opportunity to conduct this unique Course in India which is solely and exclusively for Women Referees.
