What’s Happening at the Ohr this Month July 2015 CERAMIC TIME CAPSULES A Workshop with Thomas Feyrer Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, 2015 10 a.m.—4 p.m. $80 includes clay, firing, & lunch on Saturday (10% discount for Museum Members) Create a hand-built, enclosed clay form in varying shapes and sizes. Carve incise, alter, and embellish your vessel with personal narratives. It will have a small opening into which you can place letters or small mementos. We will fire all work to Cone 6. Artist Thomas Feyrer is a beginning yoga student, a grandfather, and has never paid interest on a credit card. He is also a master potter and cynic. Oil Painting with Frank Janca Six-Week Class Mondays, 6:30 p.m.—9:00 p.m. June 29—August 3, 2015 $235 per person Learn the basic fundamentals or explore advanced techniques of oil painting. All experience levels are welcome. The class will focus on painting subjects from still life, floral composition and possible portraits. (Model fee would apply) Trained at the Art Students League in New York City, Frank Janca traveled to Europe to paint en plain aire and develop his personal style of brushwork and composition. He continues to travel to Southern France each year where he paints on location and teaches workshops. All materials are furnished (10% discount for Museum members) Learn how to use Sharon’s technique to obtain realistic, deep, rich, vivid colors and textures from watercolor similar to those in her oils. Her innovative style, easy to follow lessons and great materials make even the novice painter feel like they can create beautiful masterpieces. Adult Class 1 p.m.—3 p.m. $35 Make a bracelet or earrings using semiprecious stones. (Class fee includes materials for one piece of jewelry. Additional materials will be available for purchase at the class.) Sabrina Stallworth designs custom accessories utilizing exotic hides, skins, feathers, semi-precious stones and exotic woods.
